I called this number and when I punched in my order number it said my order had been activated and would be shipped within 24 hours but when I talked to the operator he told me they were currently out of stock. I don't know whether I should believe the robot or the att employee...
 
I got the backorder e-mail too.. .damn

I called in, she said they will know if a few days.

But it all works out, my CC company put my account on hold because they thought AT&T was fraud, otherwise it would have shipped yesterday. It should be reactivated today, and AT&T said for me to just call in and they will reprocess it once my card is ok. I just can't wait to get my iPhone! I've wanted one since launch...

Delivered!

My roommate just messaged me to tell me he signed for my iPhone before leaving for work. Aghhh I can't wait to get off today so I can go play with it. I'll post unboxing pics if yall would like when I get home (though I'm sure someone not at work will beat me to it). I ordered at 9am Tuesday
 
Ordered one just after midnight wed. morning. Got the confirmation email right away. I checked yesterday afternoon and was told it would ship in 24 hours. Then this morning I got another email stating it was backorder/out of stock with no delivery date given. :mad:
 
Shipped

I ordered Tuesday around 1:00 PM CST, and got my tracking number yesterday around 6:00 PM, right now is with DHL in Wilmington, OH and previously was picked up in Fort Worth, TX, and is scheduled to be delivered on Friday here in San Diego, CA!, hope all the backorders don't have to wait much!. Good Luck.
 
I got the backorder e-mail this morning as well. #%^!#%^!!^$^#$&!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone get to work and return those 2-day-old iPhones so we can get ours cheap!!!

ACK, this surely must be like heroin withdrawal.

Same thing happened to me! Laaaame, the att rep said they were due to get 3000 refurbs in the next 3-5 days though!
 
I just got mine 5 mins ago... after unpacking (in its own AT&T box) it seems 99.9% mint - no visible damages whatsoever. The USB charger is the item that looks used so I'd grade it a 95%. And... the iPhone is ver 1.1.1 with modem firmware 04.01.13G!! :rolleyes:

My brother-in-law works for AT&T. That means I'm special. I WANT MINE FIRST!

I hope what they told you is true about 3000 coming soon. On other sites, when they say "Back Order," it means WEEKS of waiting.

Picts? And are you jailbreaking? I'm assuming we'll want to upgrade to 1.1.4 first, huh?
 
I ordered mine on Tuesday AM. I got confrimation last night that it was processed in TX. Now the phone is in OH. On it's way to CA. Taking the long way home I guess.
 
I'm already an existing AT&T customer. But who knows I might jailbreak it... I gotta read up on the latest releases for jailbreaking though - especially with many different methods out there already! Any suggestions?

iPlus 2.0b or ziPhone. I'm going the iPlus route to assuage my bootloader concerns, though I'm not entirely sure how valid they are.

All u need to do is update the firmware using iTunes and jailbreak it using Ziphone. I am using 1.1.4/jailbreak iPhone for 2 weeks now and problem free. As soon as I received my 249 iPhone for my wife tomorrow, I plan to do exactly the same on her iPhone.
 
So which is better ZiPhone or iPlus? I had never even heard of iPlus before, was planning on using ZiPhone. But is iPlus safer or something?

Everyone using Ziphone. If I were you, just use the one most people used and in case if you have any questions/problems, there are many people here can help.
 
no confirmation on website?

I ordered my iPhone on Tuesday at about 7 PM, and I just received a confirmation email today at 5 AM. But when I try to confirm my order status on their website, it gives me "we can't find your order."

I called at&t and they said it was on backorder and I will receive it whenever it becomes available. Does anyone know when this might be? And why I can't check my order status online?
 
Ordered mine Tuesday AM... Just received it via DHL. In perfect condition so no complaints here BUT here are a few interesting things:

1. Already unlocked (not on "attach to itunes") Obviously locked to ATT but unlocked as far as I could use it as a ipod touch right now without ever activating.

2. Running version 1.0.1!!! 03.14.08_G!!!

3. NOT in iPhone box! How is that possible? Dont they make a big deal of returning iPhones EXACTLY as it was purchased... especially at ATT stores. Its in a generic ATT box. I just find it odd.

I have purchased a second one and that has not arrived yet but I do have a tracking number as well for that one.

I will be unlocking and selling this one as I already have my iPhone but it seems that Tuesdays purchases are being shipped!!!
 
I'll try to take pics later… but here's the summary:
1) AT&T branded refurb generic box (orange & white) inside a sealed AT&T plastic bag (therefore no orig black or white Apple iPhone box)
2) Comes with an AT&T SIM (not activated, obviously) inside the iPhone plus all orig accessories (including manual, cloth, stickers - in black pamphlet) are packed away in pre-cut white sponge-type styrofoam
3) iPhone's display glass is covered by a clear plastic protector (Apple's orig protector is much better), however the back is exposed
4) Headphones look new
5) USB cable looks new (but possibly just cleaned up to make it like-new again)
6) USB wall charger is not new (definitely used but still in acceptable condition)
7) My iPhone was ver 1.1.1 with 04.01.13G. Condition is 99% mint, I only noticed one VERY minor flaw after examining it closely - the flaw IMO is a very tiny scratch that was likely cleaned up by AT&T as much as possible…. I'm just getting picky here, since many are asking about the cosmetic condition. All in all, I would still give it an A+ mint condition rating (which is why I said 99% mint)

Hope this helps… for now! And yes, I do think it was worth all $249 + tax. Super fast shipping too! Thanks AT&T for saving me money!
