I guess I was lucky to purchase as a new user~
It's still at att stores in the northeast but as of now they are sold out of them online and many people (including me) who ordered them on tuesday/wednesday iphone's are on backorder
DHL just left mine on my doorstep... but it's easily trackable in detail - you can even sign-up (in DHL's site) for DHL to text or email you!

I got the Email this morning with DHL tracking number. I was originally planing to break my contract with Tmobile which has 6 months to go and pay $200.00 and sign-up with ATT. But all these posts of people talking about unlocking it and using it on Tmobile got me to reconsider my options. What are the advantages/disadvantages of using it on Tmobile?.
One of the benefits of sticking with T-Mobile is that they have better service. I am a T-Mobile customer and plan on using my iphone for T-Mobile.

I ordered about 7:30am PDT on Tuesday. Other than the confirmation email, I have had no futher communications from AT&T. After reading the dreaded word "Backorder" I called and finally got thru to a person. Turns out mine shipped yesterday via DHL and is schedule for delivery tomorrow!

Many years ago a swore I'd never to business with AT&T if I could avoid it. But it turns out I can be bought -- but AT&T service still sucks after all these years.

-- but AT&T service still sucks after all these years.Not sure if this has been mentioned, but there are only 2 real downsides (in my book):
1. No visual voicemail
2. No warranty (you activated/unlocked it with a carrier other than AT&T)
I'm not sure how the warranty thing works though, because it was my understanding that if you unlock/activate/jailbreak with iPlus, you can restore to 1.1.4 and Apple would not be able to tell that it had been jailbroken.
Can anyone clear up point number 2 for us?!
how'd you get yours so quick? i ordered mine on tuesday at 7:53 am PST (i live in socal) and didn't get an at&t email confirmation until wed. Now it says it should get here by friday.

Weird... I ordered mine Tuesday around 8AM EST (South Fla here). Got mine today noontime... see my pics above (previous posts). Good deal for $249 + tax!
Update for yall.
- Ordered from SF on Tue around 3pm
- Got "Back ordered" mail around 5am this morning
- Called AT&T to check the order status via cust. service operator
- After some holding, he came back and told me "it now has shipped and has a tracking number"
Not sure if the pressure of calling caused it to magically get a tracking number, but either way, apparently the wait wasn't too long for new backorder units to come in.

I don't think they do. The only people I know of who ship on saturdays are the usps so that's an option I always try to get when ordering something. If I can get it on saturday on the weekend than on monday instead, then even better.
