Actually, I probably did it backwards but it worked so I don't care. :D

Downloaded and installed iTunes 64-bit (I have 64-bit Vista)
I downloaded Ziphone 2.6b.
Connected iPhone to dock/PC
Loaded up Ziphone and clicked "Do it all!"
Waited 4 mins...

After it was done, I loaded up itunes and clicked restore. This basically updated my phone to 1.1.4.

After the update was done, I ran Ziphone again, clicking "Do it all!" one more time.

Waited 4 mins...

That's it? It's done?! Yay! :D

The ATT lady told me DHL only updates at night for the new tracking numbers in the system.
 
I only have an order confirmation still, no backorder or shipped email... :(
I ordered around 6pm.

As for unlocking I think it might be best to do just a little extra work and use iPlus, so you don't have to mess up your boot loader. Not to mention it appears ziPhone is all stolen code, so that could get complicated with support down the road, idk.

I was sort of hoping they would come in a cooler box, but I guess I will live. Maybe if I am lucky they will send me a new one instead... (yeah I can dream) :p
 
I got my shipping notice too, acknowledged today, presuming as I expected, delviery on Monday or so. How silly to put me on backorder status for all of twelve hours! :rolleyes:

Now I need to research apps to put on it. I'm not really into hacking it, but I want to be able to upload my own ringtones (found something good looking for that), I want srelay to tether it (unless there is a better option?), and if at all possible, a downloaded / installed stopwatch that doesn't need to be launched while on network (does anyone know of one?).

My tracking says "shipment acknowledged" at 12:01 a.m. today. This is a few hours before I got that "back-order" e-mail. Weird.

Anywho, from what DHL's Web site says, I should get the phone before 5 p.m. Friday if it left Texas today ("by 5 p.m. the second business day).

Cool! I just got my order shipped notice too.

I see a lot of questions on what's better - ziphone or iplus . . . But what's better on a OSX? I am leaving this $350 POS Wal Mart Acer Celeron Vista laptop (had to add a gig of ram just to run the thing) special here in China for my GF and wont have a Windows machine at home. Great excuse for me to get an AIR. :D

I'd still tell ya to get an MBP instead of an Air, but it's yo money! :)
 
Just got my order shipped email! Hooray!!:D

The tracking number still doesnt work yet but will soon hopefully

EDIT: Tracking number activated, shipped from TX

Sorry for the bad news, but I called DHL and they said my iPhone would be delivered by MONDAY. The second business day thing must be after today--> friday, then monday. Which really sucks. But I told them to hold my package so if it does get to my city tomorrow I can just go pick it up myself.

From what I have looked into, you can just make a 30sec or less clip in AAC format and just change the extension to .m4r and drop it into iTunes. I have done this preemptively and it appears to work just fine, they are all in my ringtones section. I saw a video of someone doing this and he was able to sync his ringtone just fine, which would be great because I don't want to spend $15 on iToner.
As for the stopwatch, you have to be on the network, really? As with my touch you of course did not have to be connected to anything, it has a built in clock, it should not be that hard.

That is how the entire business world works... Nothing new there.


On a different note, what is the build week of your iPhones? You can tell by looking at your serial.

Yeah I probably should get at least a MB more practical maybe. . . but I just love the feel of the AIR so much.

As far as ACER being crap . . .oh yes . . . it's already been sent in for warranty work. The backlight went out. Wish I'd never cheaped out and bought this thing!

I just saw that my estimated delivery date is Monday. ARRGH. I hate weekends when you want something to be shipped to you. It's like a 72-hour Friday!!!

I haven't gotten mine either. XO It's seriously annoying me. I ordered mine tuesday about 12:00 Hawaii time, and then on wednesday, at like 9, I received an email that the credit card didn't process or something. XO and I called them and situated that, and then today I got the ****ing back order email, and flipped. But I called AT&T and they said it should ship soon, but I still haven't gotten the email. :p This is really annoying. I WANT MY IPHONE. I've waited so long haha, I've gone through two ipts before realizing I really wanted an iphone and I can't wait. :p :rolleyes:
 
I want mines so bad... i ordered it on wednesday morning at 12 am... but i didnt check my email, when i did they said there was a problem with processing my order. And i had to contact them with in 7 days or my order will be canceled. its to late now to call them, i just hope i get it... im sad when i read that everyone got theirs already...lol
 
Got mine, have the NES emulator downloaded, a new theme (leopard), summerboard, and am waiting on tmobile to get its act together setting up my interwebs. I'm very excited. I did have to upgrade firmware when I got it but this thing is better than I thought! and works great unlocked!!
