Do you know if we will get an email once our orders goes from processing to "Preparing for shipment"?

It'd sure save me refreshing my orders page every half hour.:D:mad:

I had no email for "Preparing for shipment" and as far as I know, my order went directly from processing to shipped. I checked at around 5 am PDT this morning and it was still processing. Woke up this afternoon and bam, it had already shipped. So if the page did reflect "Preparing for shipment", it was a very very small window of time.

I ordered my Imac within the first 30 min and my order is still processing. I'm a little worried though since the hold on my card was removed.

Was it a hold or a pending charge? A hold can't immediately be changed to a charge. It's removed and then the amount is charged, so it probably means you're going to be charged soon.

It's completely normal. The money will be charged once its shipped.... Some times up to a week after it has been shipped actually

So still can someone explain to me how are people getting free stuff ?????

I don't know about others cases, but I think in my case it had to do with the fact that my user history has over 20 macs purchased and twice as many ipods/pads/phones as well. I was polite and chatted with the rep a bit, talked about how much I admired the design of the 5mm edge and couldn't wait to show it on my desk in the office. How I loved the fact that my machine was completely solid state and how it complemented my external bluray burner perfectly, and he said "hey, I've thrown in expedited shipping, and I want you to try out the Magic Trackpad as well. We would love to know how it works for you as a touchscreen alternative."

And that my folks is how you get an Apple customer for life. It's not the free crap, it's the complete user experience and you can't get that anywhere else.

Apple reps will give free stuff all the time. It's nothing new. Back years ago I had hell with a PowerBook I bought. It went to repair 3 different times, and Apple practically replaced everything in it. It still didn't work well. Right about the 4th time I called new PowerBooks came out. The Apple rep just simply told me to take my pick of the one I wanted and any BTO options I wanted (within reason).

I think it was a big assumption from everybody that the departure 10:50pm from Shanghai was getting on a plane. Mine is in this batch but was just scanned "Export Scan" in Shanghai at 2:09pm -- so its still in China. Delivery time has changed to 12/17 before end of day. I think it is unlikely to be significantly sped up beyond this.. of course I'll hold out hope that the transit gods smile upon me and it is delivered on Friday instead but I'm not putting any money on that.

Once again wishing I'd called and asked for expedited shipping!

Same here we assumed the departure scan yesterday meant they were on a plane not so.

It'd be hilarious if they were just scanned and not really sent out until a good portion of people's go into prepared for shipment, eventually meeting Apples original estimate delivery dates of the 21st onward

So how do we know the delivered iMacs weren't shipped out first come basis?

Because people who order after me (way, way after me) with identical configs (i5, 680MX) have already confirmed their iMacs are shipping and have a tracking number. Mine is still "processing".

Ordered within 1 minute of the store going live.

It really would be nice to know how exactly these orders are processed and why some of us who ordered within 1 minute of them going on sale are still waiting. But my guess is we just "ordered it wrong," right? :D

That is weird, since we are both in Seattle and mine has shipped. I bought through the education store. Maybe those are processed first?
