Has anyone who did not have expedited shipping got their order past the processing status?

Yes, mine just shipped today, the 11th, with a delivery date of Thursday the 13th at 10:30 AM.

Doesn't really seem right though, I ordered my computer at around 8:15 EST on Nov. 30th -- 5 hours after they were released -- and it seems most people who ordered theirs just minutes after they went up still have their orders processing. I feel very privileged to have mine shipped so early when I was originally expecting Apple's time frame of 21 - 28 Dec.

Is it possible that the "Shanghai, China 12/11/2012 2:11 P.M. Export Scan" was simply when they processed the paperwork, and that the shipment actually did Depart yesterday at 10:50?

Perhaps the build and shipping order has to do with palletizing groups of machines according to final destination distribution point to minimized handling of individual boxes until near the final delivery sort.

Well that gives me hope that mine could ship tomorrow and still arrive for the weekend!

No need to feel bad about it. It seems a bit of a crapshoot who gets theirs first.. This thread'll be a distant memory in a week for most of us:)

I guess what it comes down to is that Apple never stated that it would be first come, first serve... We just assumed this because when items are released in stores, people line up... and that is actually first come, first serve...

It seems to me that they are paying attention to what day you ordered it, just not the time. It seems like everyone who got tracking numbers ordered on 11/30. We just have to wait and be patient... Hopefully the rest of the 11/30 orders will go out within the next couple days.

For me, it sucks that I stayed up til 3AM to place my order, but the bright side of it is that I was early enough to be in the "delivery before Christmas" window... If I had just ordered it in the morning, there would have been a possibility that it would ship later, as they switched it from 2-3 days to 3-4 days at some point on 11/30.

Yes. Patience. Mine went into preparing for shipment early this morning, so hopefully it'll be on the afternoon flight out of China. If not it'll be out tomorrow most likely. I'm not going to go crazy because it's not out because some guy who ordered his 10 minutes after me is going to get his day after tomorrow.

All of this really most likely could come down to logistics, and it makes perfect sense to simply process them on a day-ordered basis. They're probably chosen based upon flight patterns. I'm going to just use the US for an example here, but I'm sure it applies elsewhere in the world. When the plane arrives in Anchorage the flights to different parts of the US aren't there. They're going to coordinate shipments based upon when those flights are in Alaska to keep packages from being stranded there for an unnecessary day.

I don't think so... If this were the case, all the first orders would go to places closest to Kentucky. People all over the US and some parts of Canada were part of the shipment... Plus, what difference does it make to Apple... All of them come together on a plane, and then get distributed... That is UPS/Fedex responsibility. Plus I know for a fact that people in NY (I live in NY) had theirs shipped, while I didn't.

For those of you who are seeing a change to:

"Delivers Dec 21 - Dec 28 via 2-3 Business Days (excl. gift cards) - Free"

It is because Apple is now giving EVERYONE free 2-3 day shipping on ALL orders placed through the website.

There's no need to call in anymore... They weren't lying in saying everyone is being expedited.

For those of us who did call already, it was essentially just a waste of time(unless of course yours shipped before they made the change).

Who had 2-3 business days shippmet in the original order? arent you refering to everyone who has 2-3 weeks?

I ordered my BTO 27" at approx 5:45 am PST on November 30. It had a 'Delivers Dec 24 - Dec 31 via standard shipping' window.

Specs:

  • 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
  • 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
  • 3TB Fusion Drive
  • NVIDIAGeFrc GTX 675MX 1G GDDR5
  • MAGIC TRACKPAD
  • Apple WL Kybd (English)+UG
  • COUNTRY KIT

On 12/10 I got a pre-authorization on my credit card and some time that night or early morning on the 12/11 it when to "Preparing for Shipment". I am so excited.

It's replacing a 2007 24" Core Duo. This baby is gonna scream. Can't wait!!!

iMac ordered 10-DEC; Processing

Hi Folks,

I ordered my 27" iMac BTO on 10-DEC at night, and my credit card was charged in minutes. Currently it shows "Processing", and available in January. I hope to get it soon too. I am regretting as to why I didnt place the order on 30-NOV. But anyway, lets hope for the best!

I ordered my BTO around noon PST.

An hour or two later I called Apple and had them change my setup a bit, while keeping it on the same order number. My estimate is Dec 31-Jan 7.

Interestingly, however, a pending transaction came through on my card December 8th for the price of the original iMac I ordered. As of today, however, that original price still shows, but my available balance reflects exactly what would be left after the updated iMac order went through.

That probably means nothing, but when all there is only straws to grasp at, I might as well start grasping.

It probably happened that way because it was the only way to keep the same order number after you made the changes. They had to make two separate charges with the original charge being able to go through so you could keep that order number and place in line. This is of course just my opinion of what may have happened.

See you soon!

I have the same thing. It's like it has been stuck in China for two days. I thought that it would have shipped yesterday from Shanghai but apparently they are still there? No wonder it takes seven days to get here when they have them in holding pattern like this.

No, they are still there.

UPS defines an export scan as cleared for export from the originating country.

Yeah and I live in KY and ordered Nov,30 and I'm still processing as is at least 5 others that I know of who ordered on launch day that live here, so logistics is out lol.

They are probably holding the plane to wait for computers for all the people complaining on this thread ... :D :D :D

I agree with your point. I live in metro Cincinnati(1:30 from Louisville) and still in "processing."

I don't know about others cases, but I think in my case it had to do with the fact that my user history has over 20 macs purchased and twice as many ipods/pads/phones as well. I was polite and chatted with the rep a bit, talked about how much I admired the design of the 5mm edge and couldn't wait to show it on my desk in the office. How I loved the fact that my machine was completely solid state and how it complemented my external bluray burner perfectly, and he said "hey, I've thrown in expedited shipping, and I want you to try out the Magic Trackpad as well. We would love to know how it works for you as a touchscreen alternative."

And that my folks is how you get an Apple customer for life. It's not the free crap, it's the complete user experience and you can't get that anywhere else.

I just ordered my first ever iMac desktop and would like to know which external bluray burner you chose to complement your system. I have a BTO 27" 3.4ghz i7 1Tb Fusion, 8g ram and trying to find a nice bluray burner for 1080p video I still have on my Panasonic HD camcorder. Help! My new Mac scheduled to arrive December 31st. Thanks.

Yep, but until then, many of us whom gave up sleep to get the orders in at midnight Pacific time, will just sit here fuming that Apple is filling orders with no regard to the first come first served model. I, like many, will be out of town for the holidays, and really don't want my local FedEx guy leaving my computer on the doorstep, like he did with my iPad last month.

What it comes down to is... we think "I ordered mine at 12:00AM on 11/30 so I should get mine first."

...And this is how Apple looks at it: There are x,000 orders from the US which we promised to ship in 2-3 weeks and they will all be processed first.

There's only so many they can make and ship at a time...
