27" External Monitor with iMac

Hi,

I have been using a Shimian Achieva QH270 monitor with my iMac (27-inch, Late 2013) using the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter, but I am starting to have issues with the cable.

My question is, has anyone come out with a different cable to solution for using DVI-D 27" 2560x1440 monitors with Apple products?

I would think the current thunderbolt port and cables would be powerful enough to power such a monitor.

There are many different companies which make minidisplay to DVI adaptors, have you tried purchasing a different adaptor?

I have seen those, but I think that kind only works up to 23" at 1080p.
