Yes it has all the cables included.

Yes the sound comes through the internal speakers, although it sounds like you may have to adjust your sound settings on your xbox if it's not working with your tv. If you can get the sound working over HDMI with your tv it will work through the iMac Speakers.

Hmmm. Wonder why it didn't work when connected to my TV. Could it be due to an old (pre 1.3) HDMI cable?

Anyway, I think I'll just wait for the DR Bott to arrive. I've tidied all my cables next to the iMac now and I don't want to cut the cable ties and carry the Xbox downstairs again...

BTW, what inputs and outputs does the Dr. Bott have?

Steve.

One end of it is HDMI(f) and the other is DisplayPort(f).
The box includes all of these cables

DVI cable
miniDP cable (f) for 24"LED Cinema Display
HDMI cable
miniDP cable (m) for 27" iMac

Thanks. So I'll only actually use two of those four cables, right? The HDMI and the miniDisplayPort?

Steve.

Lack

You only have a little half a second lack in sound... If connected mine trough the digital out on the xbox itself instead of hdmi!

How do you pass the audio with this Dr. Bott Digital Video Link for 27" iMac 720p? Do I have to pass it separately or the device does it?

I'm thinking of getting a Dr Bott. I actually don't have a current gen system atm, but will soon. In the meantime though I was wanting to make sure that Dr Bott will work with PS2/GC/XBox?

No it will not. It will only funtion with devices that have HDMI out or Digital DVI.

I bought the Dr Bott Digital Video link for imac 27 inch.

However, I can't seem to get my ps3 working with the imac.

I have the HDMI cable coming from the ps3, into the converter. Then the mini display port cable coming out of the converter into the mac.

Once everything's connected and turned on, when I press cmd+F2 it goes black for around 10 seconds, then a blue screen for a second, then fades back to my normal mac desktop.

I've tried changing the settings on the ps3 to HDMI (but as I did this on a non HD TV, it didn't display after I clicked "change" (obviously) so I'm not sure if it actually worked..

I've also tried resetting the ps3 with the cables plugged in to the imac but it still wont show a picture.

Can anyone help? :(

From what I understand, you need to set your PS3 to output in 720p mode. The iMac will not accept the 1080P signal. Why? Nobody knows...

I'll take a guess why:
The iMac 27" horizontal resolution is 1440 lines. 1440 is exactly double 720, so to scale the 720p image it only needs to double up the pixels. However to scale the image from 1080 to 1440, some more complicated image processing is needed and it may end up looking strange.
Maybe Apple would rather leave the feature out than having it look distorted...

The thing is that pretty much every LCD panel in the history of the world accepts a range of input resolutions (including ones which aren't convenient fractions of the native resolution). The graphics card should be more than capable of scaling this to the desired resolution which seems to be that it's a firmware or driver issue which Apple just doesn't feel is necessary to address. Why a 1080p resolution isn't supported is beyond me and is a huge oversight as far as I'm concerned.

I thought this might be the issue. So I have to take my ps3 to a friends house with an HD tv and change the settings? Sigh..

I was going to buy an xbox today but stalled because the ps3 wouldn't work.. Would rather wait to see at least it working before I buy another console :(

Thanks

In case you want to avoid the .5 sec sound delay, can you just use the 360's digital audio output to speakers or headphones independent of the iMac?

Also, can the 360 be hooked up to a 24" cinema? I would love to see Halo on that screen :D

To change the settings? Hold down the power button until you hear two beeps and it will set default settings for your TV/monitor.

Hi (and sorry for my poor English, I type from Italy)!
Philanthromac, I have your same identical problem with my ps3. Did you succeed in making the ps3 work with Dr. Bott Digital Video Link? Did you try changing the video settings of the console with an HD tv?

Btw, I do not have an HD tv, that's sick! I hope it'll work, but it sound absurd to me that the ps3 doesn't recognize the native resolution of the iMac panel and automatically switch its setting, just like it does with my non-HD tv!

how has anyone got on with this device in the uk? how did you plug it in as it comes in only a eu plug at the moment doesnt it? plus im finding it hard to get hold of one of these dr bott products can anyone point me in the right direction:?

thanks

mike

I'm no tech nerd but as far as I can see the imac is capable of playing 1080p as you can download and watch 1080p trailers/movies quite happily. It seems it's just in terms of inputting an external device such as ps3/blu-ray it only accepts 720p or 1440p.
