The Atlona box seems to work well. Looks good. Food for though, while the iMac 27-inch is a size downgrade from my 46-inch TV, the pixel density is like 2x and I also sit a lot closer. So, while the 1080p image is scaled up to 1440, it doesn't seem to be hurting anything.

Also, I'm using Astro gaming system for my headset. This is a pretty nice setup.

So u think that wii hookup will actually pull 1080p even for the 360? if it will, I'm buying it, just want to make sure b4 i spend $40

Hey guys, great read, finally some info regarding options...

So, I got belkin av360, works pretty good, straight forward, no bugs, no lags, no nothing.

However I really wonder if I should have gotten the Atlona one...

I know 720p is supposed to be enough and that my xbox games are 720p native... However when comparing with my 23" 1080p screen, you can see the difference and it's a pretty small screen...

Has anyone tried atlona versus kanex/belkin solutions? It is that noticeable?
Thanks for the help!

Just got my Atlona AT-HD620. Was expecting a miniDP to miniDP in the box, but I guess was I was kidding myself. Ran out to the Apple Store and picked up the Belkin.

First impressions were HOLY PIXELATION, BATMAN! However, I was sitting REALLY close. Sitting a little further away is better, but text really does tend to pixelate more than anything else.

However, the overall picture is great, and input lag is pretty-much non-existant. I played Hot Shots Golf on the PS3, and it was great (a good test of precision button timing).

I also have PS3 Move hooked up, and was playing a nice round of table tennis with no issue! Nice! :D

I did have to switch the sound format from 5.1 to JUST 2-channel, otherwise a lot of the sound effects were missing from when I had it plugged into my receiver.

Now, just waiting for my Wii2HDMI adapter, and I'll report back how that works.

Nice review!

I suppose you don't have a kanex or Belkin AV360 to compare the difference?? ;)

I think I could easily sell my Belkin AV360 and get the Atlona instead for like 50 bucks more... But I'm sill on the fence, is it really better for xbox gaming??

If anyone has the answer...

Cheers!

Is this compared to your TV or just the Mac? I think it appears pretty similar but any difference is because I'm sitting basically a foot away rather than 6-7 feet. At least the issue isn't enough to warrant getting a 27-inch display rather than using the iMac.

Compared to sitting on the couch in my living room, I think so. Higher DPI and lower lag. I can also better see fools hiding in MW2. Best feature though is I can game while the wife watches lame movies.

Well, I can't perceive ANY input lag, so that immediately makes the Atlona great there. I don't know enough about the Belkin AV360, but when I switched the PS3 to 720p, Wipeout HD looked quite a bit worse (not as sharp), since it was only outputting 720p -> 2560x1440p vs 1080p -> 1440p. So if 1080p is important to you (it is to me), then the Atlona is definitely worth it over the Belkin.

I can't really compare to my TV, since I have a projector (Panasonic PT-AE4000U), and no other TV :D

But I do think text pixelates more than my old TV did. I'm curious for anyone else to post their findings there. It's definitely NOT an issues sitting 1.5 feet away. Looks fantastic. :)

I love being able to flick on my PS3, hit the little button on the Atlona and the screen automagically switches to gaming time! :D

Question: Can you connect the PS3 or 360 to the Atlona via HDMI-> Mini Displayport? I'm current using the HDMI port on the Atlona 620 for my PS3... So I can use a HMDI->miniDisplayport cable for my 360 AND carry audio, right?

Just making sure...

Can all fix the 1080p ?

Can they make a patch so that the Imac 27" inputs 1080p or is this a hardware problem?

Is the Atlona really worth it? I'm mostly going to be gaming Halo Reach and MW2 on the 360 and it's important for there to be no lag.

Thanks for contributing your input.

I can say for a fact that in the Belkin there is no lag, I was playing some MW2 on xbox live yesterday and was particularly kickin' ass ;)

When I say "is it better for xbox gaming" i mean, will there be enough graphical improvement? The thing is...xbox games are mostly 720p native... but I "think" that same game looks better on my lg 23" monitor at 1080p... Maybe because it is smaller I see less pixelation...

I'm no expert! But willing to go the extra mille if it's worth to pay more for better graphics on my xbox games.. Question is...is it worth it!

There is zero perceptible lag. Atlona say there's 1ms lag, so take that for what it's worth!

By the way, I bought this HDMI switch this week, and it works perfectly with my 360 and PS3, and auto-switches between them, with no power cord at all! And it's cheap!

Here's the one with 2 HDMI cables with it, but you can also get it for cheaper on Amazon without the cables. Heck, even with the cables it's a great, great deal. I needed the extra HDMI cables. :D

Belkin mini display converter

Has anyone had issues with the Belkin mini display converter? I've had mine for two weeks and I am having issues with it. I installed Windows 7 to my bootcamp and ever since then the display box will not automatically switch over to my 360 and I cannot figure out if its a software issue or hardware. Any suggestions?

Today target display mode ceased working on my iMac i cant get it to automatically or cmd + f2 switch over to my Xbox, i am using a Belkin AV360
can you get to switchover at all? i did boot into Windows Boot Camp today which I do about once a week and ever since I did that this morning I can't get the AV360 to work

Sounds like a similar issue I had. Turns out that my box was a lemon. I returned it to the Apple store and got a new one. Now it's working fine again
