So all you need is to buy the belkin av360 and I'm good to go with playing console games on my 27" imac? No other cables or anything?

Sorry I just got my imac last week and I'm not making another major purchase like a big screen tv until after the holidays. My other tv crapped out on me, so I'm stuck with a standard def tv that isn't that good until then.

So my imac will give me the best gaming experience until I do buy a new tv in jan or feb.

I finally got my hdmi cable and minidisplay to hdmi, and I can confirm that my xbox 360 is displaying on my iMac. It takes a couple seconds of screen flicker, and then money.

I didn't buy an active converter and it works fine. I spent 5 bucks. Perhaps it's because my iMac is less than 2 weeks old

I am also interested in knowing where you got the connecter. Anyone else tried this with a new iMac?

I'm beginning to this this is not possible. I am leaning towards buying the Kanex. Not sure if the extra money is worth the difference between 720p and 1080p.

Someone mentioned 0.5 sec audio lag on the dr bott digital video link, is it already fixed in the newer versions and is noticable when you're just gaming?

hey guys i just got my altona hd620, hdmi cable and mini display to mini display cables from monoprice.com and I cant seem to get my imac to display my ps3...any help would be appreciated if you need any more info let me know

i tried pressing cmd-f2 but nothing happens im not sure why this isnt working

I got the Kanex XD and it is working great. Not as pretty as 1080, but I can't complain with 720. However I would like to plug in my GC and PS2 as well. What is recommended for RCA to HDMI converters?

Im glad you are enjoying your Kanex XD i ordered mine the other day, should be here on the 18th but cant wait to be able to play my Xbox 360 on my iMac. If you dont mind me asking how far away from the iMac do you sit when you are playing/watching? Is there any pixalation in small writing or images when sitting near to the screen?

Thanks,

George

If you sit right up close it's ugly (definitely pixelated, though still easily readable) but I usually sit 3 or 4 feet away and it's fine.

Set set the ps3 output resolution on 720p.

thanks I did that but the issue was that i plugged the mini display into the wrong port on the atlona device (kinda silly of me)

works now but i wanted to ask anyone what the best method to get the audio to play through the speakers in the imac is rite now i dont actually get sound just static but i havent had too much time to tinker with it because of the holidays thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!!

nvm i figured it out just had to change the setting on the ps3 to pass the sound through the hdmi

you might want to try switching audio on the video console to PCM or Stereo. The static noise is due to you sending digital signal to the iMac and it's can't process it.

Same thing with the XBOX 360. If you don't change the audio to stereo, you get ugly sounds from the iMac.

Hi guys,

I finally got the atlona hd620 for my iMac and xbox 360(used to have the belkin av360 but the thing fried 2 weeks later...I'm expecting a replacement and will be putting it on ebay).

I can say the image looks a little better with the Atlona but I can't test both side to side.. I also got the impression that setting the Xbox to 1080p gave me better results that on 720p. No lag at all (playing Black Ops which I guess is 720p native as most 360 games).

But does anyone know if it is possible to change color / saturation / brightness etc to improve the xbox 360 colors? is it possible to change the color settings in the iMac and switch back to the 360 and see the difference?

Thanks guys,

Sorry to resurrect this gigantic thread.

I'm wondering if anybody from a non-US country has bought the Atlona AT-HD620 and whether they used a power converter to plug it into power socket? I live in Australia and I'm wondering if I can buy the AT-HD620 and a power converter and then shove it into my socket without the entire thing exploding.

The HD620 comes with 110/240 power supply and you can use it anywhere in the world without any issues. It is also compatible with 50/60Hz HDMI input.

I'm wondering, what is the cheapest way to play Xbox 360 on my iMac 22"? Getting at least 720p of course, but 1080p would be nice.

In the uk the cheapest way seems to be the belkin av360, kanex hd or dr bott.

All retail for around £110ish

Hey everyone new user here, I have two questions about the Kanex XD for imac 27.
When i play on my xbox 360 can I change the brightness of the screen with my keyboard? I know the sound can be changed but havent seen anything about brightness.

Second question: I know the sounds goes through the displayport and into the iMac but if I plug in some other audio reciver into the xbox toslink port(or what its called) will I get the sound through that port och will display port take it?

Sorry if my english is hard to understand, not my native language.
