Definitely not new... This has been around since 2016 they recently (this year) changed their name from CMRA to Wristcam. I think it started as a Kickstarter or preorder thing back then. I went for it, and have been strung along ever since. Poor communication that is few and far between with promises of shipping soon at least once a year. They've even changed course because of "new watch" releases which have slowed everything down. If this ever ships I'll be very surprised, but glad my money wasn't totally wasted. Luckily my price was less than half of this "new" product price.
I knew this looked familiar!

If Apple wanted us to have a camera on the Apple Watch they’d give us one......five years late and severly under powered 200% above the price it should be....

There was this company called CMRA who never came out with the product, they took money from people, did not refund them and kept on delaying, it was a total failure.

But if done right, I won't mind seeing a camera on the Apple watch.

This is them. New name. I jumped off this train YEARS ago because did the lack of updates. It looks BIGGER than the profit from 4 years ago. 😳

I like the idea. It would be much easier to snap a picture on a hike for example, especially in the winter. Or it could be the return of Lomography in a way :D

One camera would definitely be enough. I don't need a FaceTime camera on the watch personally … How long can you hold your arm up like this? :D

But, man, why is this so huge? It looks like it adds another battery to the watch.

There’s a reason Samsung dropped the cameras from their watch line. It’s a terrible idea, and unfortunately often used for disgusting reasons.

The jingle from the ad reminds me of the local commercial from The Office that ends with the group waving to the camera.

Nice! I hope this actually happens. I liked the original Samsung watches with the camera. I backed an AndroidWear watch with a camera on kickstarter ... but they just took my money and ran.

I’m ashamed to say I ordered one of these via KickStarter in 2016. On 11/2/20 I responded to a Shipping Confirmation email. I have heard nothing back, or received the device.

I’ll gift it to my nephew should it ever arrive.

Why stop there? Just go ahead and replace your eyeball with a prosthetic Apple Lens and just be done with it. Take snap shots at will with the shutter directly connected to your prefrontal cortex. Come on! Who's with me?!

Nope, that product is not going to cut it. It’s way too bulky, the price is ridiculously out of whack where most consumers would never even consider an accessory in that price range. It just offers no tangible benefit and completely distorts the look of the Apple Watch aesthetically.

Also, if I recall correctly, there was a product that launched about 3/4 years ago that was very similar to this and failed miserably. I’m not trying to be negative, and I appreciate the ingenuity, but I think there’s literally zero market for something like this, when I think consumers don’t generally care to use a camera on the Apple Watch. And there’s probably also a main reason why Apple hasn’t included a Camera on the Apple Watch as well.

A camera on a Watch is a missing piece of the transition to going phone free. When I leave my iPhone at home, the first thing I miss is the camera. We’ve come to rely on our cameras as external memories. We take pictures of things we see through the day to remind us later, rather than writing it down. So, Apple Watch needs a camera. But this is not it.

An upcoming version of an Apple Watch should have a single front facing camera embedded in the display, between the pixels — something Apple has been working on according to copyright filings. It’d work for quick selfie video messages and for taking casual pictures of things you come across. Point your watch face and hit the side button to shoot. AI determines what it is you most likely wanted to shoot and crops it appropriately. Editing available after taking the shot.

When I heard this was available, I thought I might consider it. Until having a close look. Why this thing is so big and bulky, makes little sense. I’ll wait for gen 3 or Apple’s own Watch with built in camera.
