This is really, really amazing. Great work. I wish there was a way to donate.

The only thing that would make it better is if you could get the background blur effect like on the default side dock. It's a subtle but important difference, imo. Especially for those of us going for the iOS7 look.

Yeah after looking at it I think my 10.9 style dock is pretty inaccurate. I seriously doubt I'd be able to figure out how to add transparency but I think I'll adjust the alpha and add shadow to some of the dock versions to make it feel a bit more like the normal dock.

:D:D:D after installing SIMBL and cDock and do the trick to show the new 2D dock at startup, everything work perfect!! Very Very Thks 4 your appreciated help !!!! :D:D:D

Yes but you'd have to install Xcode, get the BlackDock source, change like 2 numbers and build it. Since I don't think most people would be able to do that I've added 4 different dock versions that you can select with the installer as well as included the spacing fixes posted by Nero Wolfe. However if you do go the Xcode route you can customize it however much you want, making it any color, using custom separators, adding shadows, adjusting size, etc...

Here is the new installer which is now called cDock. I updated the readme and added screenshots of all 4 versions of the dock.

File View Link

It also doesn't require you to enter your password if you already have simbl installed now.

I joint this forum only to thank you
Thank you, thank you, thank you endlessly!

I really appreciate your app and would be glad to donate a small sum!
If you want to, send me a PM with your correct name and address, so I can send a Post Office money order. Checks for small amounts are too much trouble (often cost more to cash than they are worth, or take the longest time to clear), but PO money orders should work with no detriments, except you have to actually go to a PO to cash the money order. :D

I Thank you I used some app called Deeper from the Onyx developer to restore the Dock and then re-open cDock at first it relaunched the same 3D dock but after 3 seconds the 2D dock just popped up.

/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/ is always empty, I found BlackDock.bundle in ~/Library

Thank you again, any way to donate?

I finally got around to clearing a restriction on my paypal account from like 2012 or something. I can now take donations that way if you still feel like donating (There is now a link to donate in the about window of v3).

I'm sure using latest, cDock_current.zip.

I'm trying with:
- install cDock with 10.9 and transparent (I see password permission then splash gray wallpaper and dock)
- nothing
- logout, then nothing
- restart, and nothing again
- run cDock, remove Custom dock and Remove SIMBL

This is log after uninstalled:
_app.log
Code:
Removing SIMBL and Custom dock

launchctl remove error: No such process
rm: /Users/pakpenyo/Library/Application Scripts/BlackDock: No such file or directory
rm: /Users/pakpenyo/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/BlackDock.bundle: No such file or directory
rm: /Users/pakpenyo/Library/LaunchAgents/com.w0lf.BlackDock.plist: No such file or directory
rm: /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/BlackDock.bundle: No such file or directory

_simbl.log
Code:
launchctl: Error unloading: net.culater.SIMBL.Agent
I tried this on 10.9.3 and no luck. :(

I'm not 100% sure it will fix the issues you're having but please do try the latest version (3.0) if you're still interested and let me know if it works for you.

I would love that!

In the latest version (3.0) I've made a few small changes to the look of some of the styles. I think the 10.9 version matches the default 10.9 2D side dock much better.

Is it possible to have the cdock v2 square dock but with only border and shadow of cdock v3 square dock...more like old tiger dock, not the opaque mavericks one?

Um if you want anything more specific you should probably learn how to do this yourself it's really not that hard.

The attached bundle is about as close as I could get to replicating this (minus the seperator).

To install the attached bundle unzip it and then use "Install Custom Dock Bundle" in the newest version of cDock.

Problem. After installing a dock, it doesn't automatically apply, even though the dock does seem to restart but i had to go into the app content and manually run SIMBL Agent.app in order for it to take effect.

Also, when install the rainbow dock, is there a way to choose a specific colour instead of going random every time?

I've tried both cDock 2.0 and cDock 3.0 and neither are working for me. I'm attempting to install the transparent dock in both, and neither works. I see the grey wallpaper and the Dock gets killed properly, but it always comes back as the standard Dock.

I'm on 10.9.2. The dock is the 3D dock on the bottom of the screen.

I couldn't find out how to send you a PM, so I'm attaching the files you need should it not install here. Hope to hear back from you!

Hey Wolf,

I stated before I couldn't get it working - I was using v2 at the time, now I tried again since you released v3 but with no luck.

I made a screenflow video of my doing the install.
Video

Here's a link to the _app.log
_app.log

But no "_simbl.log" was generated in that folder.

I am running developer mode 10.9.3

Any idea?

Thanks for pointing that out. Should be fixed when I put out 3.1 wasn't replacing some file.

The rainbow dock is always random. You can build your own bundle with the black dock source and xcode then install it with cDock if you want a specific color. I thought about a way to let users customize the bundle but I don't really see it being possible without xcode installed which at that point they might as well just use xcode...

Think your issue is probably the same as the one above.

This is my last attempt...

I've removed SIMBL, uninstalled (With AppZapper) cDock 2.0, installed cDock 3.0, and then went inside and ran SIMBL Agent.app and then ran cDock 3.0. Same result. Dock is unchanged.

So I uninstalled SIMBL again from the uninstaller in cDock 3.0, used AppZapper to uninstall cDock 3.0 and installed cDock 3.1. Same result. Dock is unchanged. cDock 3.1 gave me an _app.log, but no _simbl.log. _app.log is attached.

I recorded the screen with QuickTime this time so you can see it happen.

Running SIMBL Agent before you run cDock is pointless because part of the install quits and restarts SIMBL Agent.

I'm honestly not seeing anything odd in the log (at least nothing says it's unable to do something). Do you maybe have non App Store apps disallowed in system prefs?

After running 3.1 check these places:

~/Library/Application Scripts/cDock/2d.sh
~/Library/Application Support/cDock/SIMBL Agent.app
~/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/cDock.bundle
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.w0lf.cDock.plist
~/Library/ScriptingAdditions/EasySIMBL.osax

If any of those aren't there something is going wrong.

If they are all there

Open terminal and type:
killall "SIMBL Agent"
Then open
~/Library/Application Support/cDock/SIMBL Agent.app

.
.
.

I think there's still some bugs I need to sort out.

Yep some bug remains, running 10.9.3 latest build and the new cDock app runs fine but the Dock remains the standard 'I am using the 2D dock on the left). opening the app - show package contents Contents/Resourses and double clicking the SIMBL Agent icon produces the intended (transparent in my case) Dock. Looking forward to 3.2!

Yup I've actually identified a large issue. The launch agent script wasn't getting execute privileges.

Not sure exactly how I missed that...

Should have an update out soonish. Also going to be adding the ability to install colored finder sidebar icons which is just another simbl bundle made by the same guy who made the original blackdock bundle.

Ok, everything is where it should be. I ran killall "SIMBL Agent" in terminal and then went where you specified and ran SIMBL Agent.app but nothing happened.

So I re-verified that everything was where it is supposed to be. It still is, so I ran "killall "SIMBL Agent" with sudo privileges and tried running SIMBL Agent.app again. Nothing happened.

So I re-ran cDock and tried installing the 10.8 dock. Grey screen flash, ding noise made, dock gets killed, and comes back the standard Mavericks dock.

I just don't get it. :(

Thanks anyway, w0lf. I think I'm giving up. Glad its working for most.

Did you enable this defaults command previously -> defaults write com.apple.dock hide-mirror -bool true;killall Dock

The SIMBL docks will not work if this is enabled for me anyway. Just in case, this will reverse it->defaults write com.apple.dock hide-mirror -bool false;killall Dock

Don't give up hope.

Check out v3.2 it includes a fix for the issue gumblecosby posted above as well as some other fixes.

If 3.2 still doesn't work open DockMod and go to User Preferences and make sure you have it disabled. (If enabled DockMod draws it's own dock that is unaffected by SIMBL)
