It won't be released at midnight. If anything it would be midnight PDT because that is Apple. So you're better off waking up at 430 EDT if you do that anyway. Its not going to be released until later in the morning or in the afternoon though.

For what it's worth, you can take it with a grain of salt, but i spoke with 2 apple support people on sunday (via phone) and both said 12am pacific time...how much do they know? we'll find out in 3 hours....

You would think, but I just plugged in my phones before I crashed and did a quick update check and it took longer to check for the update. I can assure you that even if they put it up right now, the demand could crash the servers.

Yeh I have that ipcc file but my iTunes is already updated to 8.2 full and so I hear the carrier file won't work with that version.

Well, considering that it's only 9:21 PM at Apple I wouldn't be too concerned.

That being said, it won't be midnight. They usually do this kind of stuff in the morning once everyone's at work so they can monitor it. It's dumb to put out a HUGE, important update when your tech people are mostly asleep.

So check back in 12 hours.

Haha that's what search is for! Apple-F, "iPhone1,2_3.0" (or iPhone1,1_3.0 for the 2G) - if nothing is found, it ain't out yet.
