I disagree about it being much ugglier... I think if the iphone continues to get more and more popular they will offer different styles and designs.. much like the two versions of the sidekick that exist etc.

Well...look at the iPod for instance. It all started with one design...one model...the infamous white 5GB iPod of 2001. Now (counting all sizes and colors) we have about 20 or 30. Remember this? The one that started it all...

^Exactly my point! (I was Masizzle but they keep banning me for some reason :( )

I will remain optemistic that we'll see some variations in the iphone eventually. For those of us who don't see buttons as old technology.

Yes, but the original iPod wasn't getting 10 million orders and didn't have the "faze" that the iPhone seemed to have. Let's also remember it took a really long time for the iPod Mini to come along.

Actually, it's about right.

There was no RAZR are must have cell phone back then, and the market was clearly a lot smaller than what is out there today.

please research before you speak

3g is backwards compatible

And you should read the post before you post ;)

My comment was in reference to the slide-out keyboard from the poster before with their HTC Touch.

3G is clearly going to be on the next iPhone, but for our sticky hands friend... he/she is going to have clean off their hands before they touch the next iPhone to send a text message. (IMO of course)

Keyboards are the way to go.

I will be disappointed when laptops are all touchscreen like on star trek....

Buttons and keys ftw!

I second that. I have always thought that a small, clip-on keyboard utilizing the dock connector on the iPhone/iPod touch would be a nice add-on, and for people that do alot of typing, it would make things much easier. Could be a 3rd party add-on. Something along the lines of this mock-up:

Why do people think there will be no 32gb iPhone? That's rather silly.

I predict such an iPhone 2 to be aesthetically the same, 32gb as a storage option, 3G and tactile feedback. At least. It won't be "iPhone 2" but just an updated phone.

And clip on keyboard? No. I doubt computers will go the way of touchscreen keyboards but for a portable device where space is everything; it will be there.

The iPhone will get bigger as the flash memory gets more affordable (and available). I'm sure that Apple would love to phase out the iPod Classic if they could, but so many people want 80 or 160GB of storage. I was one that *was* waiting for a 32GB iPhone, but I jumped on those refurbs at 8GB. I am dealing with it, but when they start really getting up in storage (64GB+), that's when I'll look to upgrade. Considering the 500GB of video I have, there is no such thing as too much storage on an iPhone.

I also don't expect much of a physical change to the iPhone in version 2. The last "major" change to the iPod Classic involved making it slightly thinner and...that's it. I hope Apple doesn't do that with the iPhone for the sake of accessories. I HATED trying to find the right case for the 5G iPod 30GB because there were about 8 different sizes to choose from. Something to make the camera able to face the user while looking at the screen may happen, but that's the only physical change I bet we might see.

As far as the clip-on keyboard, what the hell is the point of one? Who in the hell has a problem with the iPhone keyboard??? When I type in "aviut" and it changes it to "about," I could give a rat's patoot about any drawbacks. A few software changes and customization would be nice, but that's about all. If anything, Apple would likely allow the iPhone to pair with full-size bluetooth keyboards and then release one that is a little more portable (think folding) than the present one.

As far as physical changes I could imagine its height or depth being reduced, visually I think the iPhone is onto a winner. It's a stunning design that doesn't need to change. Except maybe stick a little camera under the glass (A friend has some phone with some 3 or 4 megapixel camera on back and a little VGA thing on front for video calls, VGA is all thats needed for front I think).

Maybe a matte screen option for the pro people. not really, lul.

Considering you can buy an anti-glare screen cover (2 for $15), I don't think that's necessary. It's a bugger to put on correctly, but it takes away the glare without any added costs to Apple (having to make 2 different screens would cost more). I just wish this option existed for the iMacs.

I will also reiterate my issue with changing sizes so often. This thing is already thin enough, and making it .2mm thinner won't do anything other than potentially mess up 3rd party cases. I also don't see how it could get any thinner without taking a bunch of junk out and/or making it run hot.

Thats pretty cool

Thats the ugliest thing ever!

It's not that bad and it's very functional.

Although I had something more like this in mind... and you have to admit this is sexy... :D

My joke detectors are off, surely it's a joke?

It is a joke but don't call me Shirley

It looks better than the grafted blackberry keyboard, but it still isn't attractive.

The only change I think they need to make is allow landscape lay out when texting. Small phone buttons ftl

Haha, that's just UGLY people. Some of the point with iPhone is that it is 1 home-button and touchscreen. And it's genius.

And then you could go get a blackberry...is the screen really that glossy for you?

It looks ugly...

Go look at all those people with cases, they complain about how much thickness a case adds, think about the size of an iPhone with a slideout keyboard

Ummm...this isn't a joke, people are asking for it...

Agreed on both points, but that doesnt solve the original "sticky chicken hands"
