I'm bemused that anyone could think adding 3G would increase the price to consumers. The tech is already a few years old, infact most phones around the iPhone price tag have HSDPA! If anything 2.5G would be cheaper and 3G would cost the same as the iPhone does now. 3G is coming to make it competative in Europe, not as a price bumping feature.

If a 3G iPhone cost more in Europe nobody would spend a premium just to get a faster (which is standard in all phones in the iPhone price range) internet connection. It's having a hard enough time here as it is...

Yeh, but you forget, Apple always charges more for things that the rest of the world has had for years. And the fanboys are always happy to pay top dollar for it.

i have a feeling they will run edge and 3g simultaneously..... they cant just phase out edge they are far many iphones to get rid of apart from us where they are almost gone.

...that and AT&T does not have full national 3G coverage yet.

They can get away with that on computers. Say Apple comes along in a few months and gives Europe a 3G iPhone that costs more than a 2.5G phone does now and it's dead. They're already fighting tooth and nail here to make it competative.

Which is why I'm thinking a 3G phone will be here very shortly at the same price the current iPhone is now, giving us more for our money instead of a lower price. 2.5G's to be sold off £50 the current price.

It's rather conservative but it's all I see happening on this topic.

32gb Iphone

Alright so I’ve been doing my reading about the 3g support the rumored Iphone might have. I understand its faster internet on a serviced activated phone.... BUTTTT does that also entail that internet connection will be faster when it’s just working on WIFI?

SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER

Anyone hear rumors about a 32 GB iPhone coming out in June? I am thinking about buying an iPhone, but I don't want to pull the trigger too soon.

Well the 16gb iphone was released not to long ago and is still posted as a new item on apples web page. With that being said i think the rumors about the 32gb being released in june will be a but too soon. As much as i would want to have this thing in my hands by now, i think it will be several moons away

WIth having the 3g support on the standard internet service on the iphone, we know that the interent will be alot faster...SO does having 3g increase the WIFI connection speed as well? ( meaning:if the service was not ativated: and that if it was only running wifi )

Nope, Wi-Fi will be the same, unless they add wireless N, and even then, you'd need to be in a wi-fi hotspot w/ wireless-N support.

For me, 32GB wouldn't do it, I'd need a 3G phone. Improved battery would be nice, since with more GBs, I'd watch more video :p

It is going to be about image and video

Somehow it sounds more believable for me that Apple would offer a higher capacity model with video making capability and better camera control.
This sounds to be enough to keep people buying all models as there have been no real competition since its debut.

Well, anyway, Apple has many areas to address and even the worst scenario (doing nothing) will change its market lead.

NO.
wifi has nothing to do with 3G.

WIFI will be as fast as the internet connection that is running off the wifi.

3g runs at about 1.8mbit.
you can have dialup running off wifi, or you can have ADSL2 or T2 running off wifi. it all depends on whats connected to it.

do you think 3G will make your wifi running dialup faster?
... i dont think so.

edit: beaten to it.... but im still leaving it there...

Don't which support 3G, all fall back to EGDE(at least for US carrier sold phones, I don't know about the rest of the world)

I thought that 3G switching to EGDE was assumed to be part of the plan. I mean AT&T 3G network is "meh" and T Mobile is nothing, so they need to support EGDE

apple is offering a new camera. have you read about the Ieye. its their new digital camera with editing software built onto the touch surface and wifi connection so you can upload vid staight to interent

This should be stickied or something.

3G will have zip to do with speed on WiFi. In fact, upgrading the WiFi to 802.11n would probably have ZERO effect on the WiFi speed. The fastest Internet connection I know of is 12Mbps (and it's not widespread at all). Most people have between 500kbps and 3Mbps. Think of it like a bucket that can hold 5 gallons of water. If you just need the bucket to hold 2 gallons, does buying a 10-gallon bucket help you hold more water? Nope.

3G will speed up data connections when off WiFi but only where 3G service is available. This is NOT EVEN CLOSE TO EVERYWHERE. Go to AT&T's wireless Web site and check out the data coverage area near you. If you are nowhere close to a major city, you can probably forget 3G helping you in the near future.

November no way!

If Apple were smart they'd save that jump for when the next real hardware revision comes along (either that or use the storage bump to hide the lack of a revision). With that in mind I'd like to see the 3G iPhone with 32GB and other hardware improvements.

For that I predict November at the earliest. Though, as I say in other threads, I'd love to see that be earlier.

I know for a fact we will have by july a 32 gig 3G iPhone and I am hearing "Fathers day another son is Born!" Thats straight from Cupertino and a drunken iphone team talking too much. A friend of a friend has a friend that has a cousin. Thats no joke thats how it went down. :apple::apple::apple::apple:

just a minor technicality. maximum ive heard of is 24mbit.... and thats in australia!

and we're apparently behind the rest of the world when it comes to internet speed!

iPhone32.png
Here's the image that was removed off the Macrumors front page of the 32 GB iPhone. I guess Apple didn't like them posting that information on the site. I personally don't need 32 GB on my iPhone. I still have the 4 GB and I only use maybe 3 GB of it. But I suppose if you watch a lot of movies or have huge music libraries that you might need more space. At this point 32 GB just seems like over kill.

This is really interesting...Apparently Apple's planning a *64GB* iPhone just around the corner...WOW. We're almost up to iPod classic size...almost.

The Serial # on the iPhone is covered for security reasons

That image is most definately a fake, you can tell from the differential font weight between the 64 and GB.

here's a Tip

That image is most definately a fake, you can tell from the differential font weight between the 64 and GB.

Usually "Engineering Samples" do not have serial numbers on them.
any image with a blurred serial is obviously Photochopped.

esp. look @ the image of the 128GB model, it's not even a clean photochop job.

for those of you wondering still, if these images are real.
