Only 32 GB, eh? Why get a 3rd gen iPhone when the new Palm Pre comes with a massive 8 GB...

Man, do you even remember what you have? That's a buncha tunes ....

I only have about 5GB and I occasionally think "Who was that and where did it come from?" and have to look at what's playing ...

Haha, I've got a 160Gb iPod classic... with about 22Gigs of Music/Vids on there.... I sometimes do forget what I've got on there :D

I don't think the 16GB is going away. It means the current model is being EOL'd, ready for a new 16GB. What I think this indicates is that Apple are going to continue selling the 8GB iPhone 3G (probably at a lower price point), since price is their biggest barrier.

The price of the phone itself is not their biggest barrier in my opinion--its the price of the combined voice/data/text plan every month.

Woah. Is that because of music in it or what? Thats a hefty size. Whats the basic idea behind it (without giving away too much. You dont want someone to steal it.)

It's packed with high quality multimedia content. I was thinking these kind of apps could be a problem with an iPhone with limited size but if the next standard is going to be 32GB or better 64GB this opens new possibilities for apps.

It'd be great to have a 32 GB iphone, not for my music but for videos and TV shows. 16 GB is fine for all my music

Absolutely. But with a data cap and lower usage fees (still rumor) it would make it a little easier on the wallet.

It really does. App developers like yourself can rethink all their previous limitations.

I would certainly download more video podcasts and music videos with a 32gb iPhone.

For it to hold all my music it'd have to be well over 150GB's in capacity! Though I'm considering getting an iPhone sometime within the next half a year, and the extra capacity is welcome. I actually really trust that source.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

I think that a 32Gb model has to come in order to support video. It will be a welcomed addition.

Hmmm, 32GB iPhone means 64GB iPod Touch, which means I'm finally upgrading my gen 1.

If Apple can knock a hundred dollars of the price of the 8GB, to put it at $99, and ATT can shave 20 bucks off of the combine data/service rates for reduced data/minutes, I think that'd definitely push sales for the base unit.

For people who don't have huge music libraries, don't endlessly surf the web, or use their phones for movies and games, such a device would represent a good sweet spot I think. Just enough web access to check emails, traffic status, weather, stocks, and the occasional GPS map would be all most people need on a day to day basis.

If turn by turn navigation comes, it'll be needed to support the maps too.

I don't doubt Apple is seeing potential for much larger applications through the next year.

What if they are dropping both 8gb and 16gb? Now it will be 32gb and 64gb at the previous price points.

Who knows, Apple has surprised us in the past.

As the iPhone only has room for one flash storage, not two like the iPod Touch, the max will only be 32GB until 64GB chips go into production.

Think a few of you guys are probably right with them dropping the 16GB so they can start manufacturing the new iPhones, my guess 16 and 32 but who knows, now which could mean a shorter wait between the announcement and the availability of it (going by the month or so wait for the 3G to be released).

I hope o2 allow people currently nowhere near the end of their contract to start a new one

It is odd that they said end of life for the 16.

Is it possible that we will have a 32gb and a 64gb model replacing the current 8 and 16? I thought 64gb might still be a little pricey.

Apple has never surprised us with solid state memory!! Where have you been. It is like clockwork. The minute the price of the next size up allows apple to maintain the exact same profit margin they make it standard. No surprises ever.

new iphone will be
16GB
32GB
period

This is what the market and profit dictate. Always follow the money you guys.

16 more days!!!!!!!!!!!! cannot wait.. im already standing in line:p

Metaphorically I am too. I'm so excited. Rent might be a tad bit hard to come by for June, but by God I'll have an iPhone.

Just kidding, but I am super excited and if these rumors truely do come to fruition I'm going to be so excited. These 16 days cant go by quick enough.

As others have said - the voice / data plan costs is the bigger issue for many of us. My bandwidth needs are way less than what I have been paying for. It would be far cheaper for me to have gone with an iPod Touch and a separate phone - but did not want two devices to schlep around. Soon I will need to see a less expensive plan from AT&T or may well go with two devices.
