I hate UPS. I did a chat and asked for hold for pickup, but needed a call to make sure the time would work as I had school last night.

I check the status a few hours later and it said hold for pick up yet they claimed to have tried to contact me. The chat rep entered the wrong phone number.

I called back to cancel hold for pick up once I found out it wasn't available until 7:45PM. No go. At school. Wouldn't work.

After they had cancelled hold for pick up, someone at UPS decided that they knew better and re-instated the hold for pick up, so now I have to face rush hour traffic tonight to pick it up instead of it being delivered to my house.

I REALLY hate them.

I agree, UPS is a pain to deal with and it frustrates me no end that they will hold a package until its original delivery date even if it arrives in my little town 2 days earlier. The only delivery service that's worse is the USPS.

That said, UPS will be my best friend today - shceduled to deliver my watch between 11 and 3!

In this regard Apple has already told us what to expect. It gave us delivery time ranges and also said there won't be AW for sale in Apple retail until June. Tie that in with shipping times here and also yesterday's confirmation that there was a production issue and I think we have all the info we need.

It seems Apple is running maybe slightly ahead of it's shipping ranges. I would guess the majority of orders are in the 4 to 10 minutes range after the store opened so we are still in a bottleneck are. Based on the data at MR it looks like most of 5 min has shipped and working on 6 minutes. I think next week will be the week when the remaining early orders (up to 10 min after preorder started) get pushed out.

If they haven't pushed out orders after :06, and have production issues.. How are they gonna expect to fill the orders placed after 4/10 before June? Most June orders were bumped up to delivery of 5/28-6/4.
Granted 5/13-5/27 are slowly moving ... But it's been almost a week since launch day and they're still processing orders made within the first few minutes of opening. And considering people that ordered around the :05 timeframe was give 4-6 wk window... Shows they didn't have a lot of production made from the start. And now they're saying because of the engine issue, it could cause more delays.

No, Apple is saying the slow shipping is due to the tapic engine issue which was discovered prior to launch, not just now; that they had inventory built up in Feb but then discovered it wasn't fit for sale. It's not going to cause MORE delays, just the one we are now experiencing.

So right now things are moving ahead of Apple's stated delivery windows. Unless some NEW production issue occurs then we can rely on the delivery information Apple has given us, and if we get our watches earlier then its a bonus.

The production issues were not something to which Apple admitted - rather, it was a leak. Maybe a planned leak, but Apple had a very good chance to mention the issue during their earnings call (rather than put out a press release) and assure folks (especially those that ordered) that they're standing by the delivery estimates in their emails. It would also be nice to have some further update. I ordered on April 10th and was told to expect a delivery between 5/13 and 5/27. Eighteen days have passed since we ordered. As such, you'd think that they'd now have a better idea of when they're going to ship at this point. They've already updated the early orders that had the nebulous "June" delivery date. Given that they now know how many orders have been placed, shipped and remain outstanding as well as production ability, Apple should be able to update folks rather than having people try to guess how things are coming based on the milliseconds in a confirmation email. I think Apple could do better.

I have to believe that Apple is still standing by the windows given to each of us. I just think that they could update them at this point. That being said, I'm also assuming that the windows factored in the watches that they supposedly had to scrap just before launch.

Yes, PITA. But to be fair UPS doesn't do it just to be annoying. Packages are containerized so packages in a tractor trailer not scheduled for delivery before Monday won't get off loaded until Sunday evening. It's just a logistical issue. It's not like an employee can just go in the truck and pick your package out. It's bundled up with lots of other packages and your's might be on the bottom.

My calendar says it's April 30. Why are you moaning if your watch isn't scheduled for delivery until 5/13 to 5/27? We are all in the same situation here. Keep on living. Your watch will get to you. At this point it seems Apple is ahead of these delivery dates.

I agree Apple could and should have been more communicative about the supply issue and have stated as such in other threads. Tim Cook sounded like a weasel in the conference call and I really abhor how Apple is putting AA up as the fall guy.

But my response in this thread is 100% about Apple's communication regarding delivery dates, nothing more. And in that regard, Apple has been ahead of target so I see little reason to complain on this issue.

I think we're on the same page. To be clear, I'm not saying that I expect a delivery any earlier than what Apple told me when I pushed the "purchase" button in the middle of the night. My only point is that I do believe that they've tried to hide the ball on the issues that they are clearly facing and that they could have done better to communicate. Having previously purchased 1st gen products (Apple and other) that failed after they were in the consumer's hands, I'm very happy that Apple discovered the taptic engine problem before shipping. I believe that they should have taken ownership of the problem and not simply said that shipment times are slow because demand exceeded their expectations - that's not entirely true and causes one to doubt other statements. Having worked enough with crisis communications for companies, the truth is always the best approach. I expected better from Apple on the communication piece - and think that they could still fix that aspect by providing some updates to those who ordered in the first few minutes as, by now, Apple must have a better idea of when they'll actually ship. If Apple does not have a better idea, then they really have some serious problems.

I just picked up my 38mm SG from UPS CC this morning! I was xx:04:51 and the 5/13-5/27 group, so they beat the original shipping window by a healthy margin :D

38mm SG Sport charged
E-mail conf: xx:5:20
Charged 5:20-ish 4/30
Preparing for shipment
TN

You ordered at 5:20 AM central? Hmm. I received my confirmation at 3:21 central and the only movement I've seen is a bump from "June" to May 21 - Jun 4 delivery. Also in TN.

OK, yes, on that point I agree. Apple has done a terrible job there and treated customers like chumps. Funny how TC wanted to shed Apple of it's arrogant nature formed during the Jobs II era but he is acting the same way Jobs did with the White iPhone 4.

good to see another Floridian getting their 38mm SG, was hoping to wake up to a charge today, but no such luck. :(

Also glad your order was before mine, rather than those we've been seeing after getting shipping notifications (o_O)

Really not much movement on this thread today, guess most of the 38mm SG people haven't received any good news :(

Still nothing for me. Confirmation email was at XX:07 and in Oxford, MS. Was really hoping to see some movement today or tomorrow, but should have known that was a pipe dream.

Maybe all of us May 13–27 folks should just try to forget about the existence of Apple Watch for the next 13 days?

38mm SG Sport charged early morning on 4/30
E-mail confirmation received at xx:05:48

I know it'll be awhile before I get charged since I'm xx:16 but it kinda irrates me that Apple is acting so smug that :05 orders with the second wave shipping are receiving theirs early. But the fact that :05s were even put in the second wave is disturbing. It seems like for Space Grey models production was way behind from the start. And typically space grey is the most popular iPhone color.

Hang in there.

Because I stayed off MR today until now, I have to get my fix... is that the first XX:07:XX order that's preparing for shipping?

There was a supposed XX:09:XX but I suspect there was something special or misunderstood about that one.
