I am wanting this thing now! Trading DOWN from a 6 Plus when I realized the large phone form factor is not for me at all!
That's quite the downgrade! Thoughts on going from a 5.5 display to 4? Reading? Texting?
Though I must say I have thought about it myself (6S plus), I'd miss the gorgeous display for web browsing et cetera but I'd at least get a manageable:d sized phone in my pocket that would be easier to handle.

$500 for 64gb. My 64gb 5s was $750 in 2013.

This.

Anyway you look at it this is an insanely good deal.

Not just for people selling a 5S. The secondary market is about to be destroyed for everyone. You can get a brand new iPhone for $399! I feel like my perfect condition 6S will take a huge hit.

Yeah this fall is going to be interesting for sure...I'd like to think the size difference will insulate us a bit, but a brand new iPhone (that wasn't purposely crippled like the 5c) for under $400 and free on contract is going to shock the market. When I go to sell my 6s+ I'm crossing my fingers!

£359 in the uk for 16GB, £439 for 64GB, and I was so pumped for this when I heard $399 which is roughly £278 now im just disappointed, we get bumped so much in UK

489 euros in The Netherlands. The exchange rate should put it around 345 euros. Ridiculous.

Edit: I just read that its 509 euros in Italy...

$399 is pretty awesome, even if 16GB

that will bring in tons of price sensitive customers always priced out from joining the lush walled garden

It has last gen touch ID. If it ends up only having 1gb ram then this low price won't be surprising at all--lots of compromises equates to lower price.

If it has 2gb ram, and the touch id is the only compromise, then I think this is a fair price. I'd pay $50 more though for current gen touch id though.

I was considering till i saw the EU prices, a €125\€136 difference between US (16GB $399=€354 & 64GB $499=€443) and Europe (€479\€579)...

£359 for the SE, can get more than that for my 6 month old 6S Plus that I hate. SOLD.

I'm seriously considering getting rid of my iphone 6 plus for this phone (if it has 2gb ram). I'm starting to hate how slow IOS is with 1gb of RAM and having to constantly close apps in the background to run properly.

The A9 chip with 2gb destroys my current phone in performance. If I need the larger display, I'll have my Air 2 with me.

I can't say that I'm not surprised but thus was the price point I thought a device.kije this seemed the most fair.

Apple cut the right corners. They didn't redesign the 5 chassis completely thus saving time and money on retooling and the engineering. The savings were passed into the consumer.

I think this handset is going to pull markets are from Android. I use android and love it too but I'm very keenly aware that some people choose android based on price. This is also now virtually the only flagship specced device with a 4" screen, which is also something people seem to want.

The only negative thing going for this phone is the resolution and that's only in terms of comparing with other handsets from different makers. Even that isn't really a fair comparison since nobody makes a 4" phone anymore. Certainly not with premium specs.

I honestly contemplated going back to a 5s when I had the 6 plus. 6 plus was the worst performing iPhone I ever had. IMO it was underpowered and incredibly overpriced for what you got. It just rodents on the wave of "we finally have a bigger screen".

It includes TAX in EU countries. The same with all Apple products when comparing Dollars to Euros.

OMG 509 euro even though its part of the euro zone? what the actual f... excuse me rip off

At first mention of it on the keynote I thought $399 was on contract. But it is free on contract, which has become somewhat irrelevant in 2016.

£439 for 64GB edition. 16GB might as well not exist it's so inconvenient to have so little storage.

Sony Z5 Compact is currently going for £300 on Amazon UK and has 32GB with micro SD card support.

I'm not sure Apple have priced this right for the UK...

Even my new Galaxy S7 cost me only £489 by comparison. Sure it only has 32GB but can take micro SD cards.

Don't get me wrong, it looks like an awesome little device. It'll fly with that A9 powering the small display.

I would love to pick one up for a secondary iPhone in case my 6 breaks or I want to use a really tiny phone.

Well to be honest, I just want something new, even if I don't need it :p
