Apple doesn't care about exchange rates. The price is "399" regardless of currency. EUR 399 * 1.23 = 490399 USD. In direct conversion to euro it's about 354 EUR. Let's add a high european VAT (many countries have less) of 23%: 435 EUR. Why the hell the price of 489, and even 509 in some countries?
They deliberately decided to make this device less accessible in Europe. They have the right to do so, I have the right to be pissed about it.
Nothing about this device screams 'premium'. First of all it is way too cheap - now anyone can buy one. I don't like that at all, it is very non-Apple catering to the casual consumer.

$399 = £277 but iPhone SE is priced at £359, this is usually the case.
You need to add VAT, should be £332 I make it.

Isn't 20% of the UK price the VAT? $399 in the US is before tax. Each state has different sales tax, from 0% to 9.75%.£359 in the uk for 16GB, £439 for 64GB, and I was so pumped for this when I heard $399 which is roughly £278 now im just disappointed, we get bumped so much in UK
Well time to return and get the SE 64 for the same price of $499. I'm sure they will have a sim unlocked version yea?
If that was the case then it'd be $459 in NZ instead of $749. The exchange rate is definitely considered... and a considerable "buffer" is added too.Apple doesn't care about exchange rates. The price is "399" regardless of currency. EUR 399 * 1.23 = 490
Did you get a deal on your 5s? Because a 64GB iPhone 5s in 2013 should have been $850, which makes this even more incredible.$500 for 64gb. My 64gb 5s was $750 in 2013.
Socialist states with socialist programs translate into higher taxes. Not hard to understand. Its the peoples fault, and the Government wanting Free health care and the like. I'll stay in a Capitalist Country, thank you very much.
Taxes. Taxes on everything. Europe in a nutshell.489 euros in The Netherlands. The exchange rate should put it around 345 euros. Ridiculous.
Edit: I just read that its 509 euros in Italy...

Didn't you see the video of Liam, Apple's new recycling robot?F
They have to be harvesting the shells of the 5S's from the trade-in program to be selling them this cheap lol.
