I use it mostly on Instagram and Safari. to me those are the apps that utilizes it the most right now. I'm sure we will see more integration over time. The phone and feature is still fairly new to us.

I don't use it much. Usually only for the task switcher. Mainly because I don't find any faster really. Perhaps in the future when apps utilize it better.

Not to mention, I sometimes forget it's even an option.

The only time I've honestly found it truly handy was when I was driving and on a call. 3D Touch maps, directions home was much easier/safer then opening the maps app, clicking in the tiny search box, and then clicking my home address.

Ahh, just googled how to do it. Thanks. Guess it will take some getting used to. For me double clicking the home button is faster.

For me, this is one of the best uses of 3D Touch. I have small hands so it's difficult to double click one handed sometimes. Or I have to adjust how I'm holding the phone to double tap and then adjust it back up. It disrupts my motion if that makes sense. The swipe I can do with either hand really quickly and then you're already in the motion of moving to another app or swiping through multitask. It's seems like such a little thing but it's so incredibly convenient, at least for me.

I'm finding little use part from home screen short cuts, but using it on the keyboard for the cursor when composing a lot of text it is awesome! I'm having trouble getting the app switching and not just going back in safari. I have it on the lightest setting too!

Never even knew about the keyboard cursor. Yea that's good!

Really not sure why a press and hold can't do exactly the same as 3D Touch on ANY device.

All Apple would then need to do would be to change the action to delete an app.

Force Touch is technically not needed at all.

It's more like a right click button which has some options as shortcuts for the app..lts useful in some places and others not a much game changer..

But end of the day, it's a new feature which is still in its early stages. Once more apps start utilising the feature it's true potential will emerge..

Right now it's a good to have feature but not a must have one..

But nothing that couldn't have been done with a long hold. Then it would work on all devices.

Switch it off then but for me I use every time I take a photo and it's very useful for alarms, Instagram and photos

Agreed.. But then how would the iPhone 6s become different than the 6 and sell around 13 million units in the first weekend ?

See, most of the updates that Apple roll out every year could be easily be clubbed into 1 but that way they won't have much to release as part of their new launches every year..

For example, Samsung will go from 16 mp to 18 mp next year but iPhone will stick to 12 mp for one more year as they need something to boast about in the 's' cycle year.. End of the day, Apple is a for profit organisation..

It is strange that with the iPhone 6 and 6+ Apple gushed about the screen content being so near to the surface, that the icons were almost bursting out from the screen and yet now due to 3D Touch our screen content is sunken again. I don't mind the new feature, it's fun sometimes to 'peek' at email content and the camera app shortcut is helpful, but is it worth the trade-off in screen quality for such a non-essential new feature? No way.

What do you mean? The screen on my 6S looks exactly as good as my 6, if yours doesn't maybe you need to get it checked out. If you mean the blurring of the underlying icons when you force press on the home screen that's a UI feature not a screen quality change, it doesn't affect the appearance of the screen apart from when one icon is highlighted and its menu is up...

No, I don't mean that. The display on my 6S+ isn't as nice as the one on my 6+. It fatigues my eyes and the whole screen content seems sunken somehow, it isn't giving the impression of being right on the surface like it did on the 6+. I've seen other people comment about this and it's true. I'm not especially bothered by this, even though it appears to be a step backwards in tech, but I am concerned by the eye fatigue I'm experiencing. 16 days now and my eyes still haven't become accustomed to it. Perhaps I got a bad one, it's hard to tell just by looking at one in a store. I would need to live with a different phone for a few days in order to test the display it out.

I'd go see a dr, there is no massive, significant difference between the 2 screens that should be causing that regardless of how many comments you have read to the contrary, I think a lot of people pick up on things they've read or heard & then get too caught up about it, battery life being a prime example of people obsessing over a possible nothing issue...

I'm sorry, but I haven't read anything credible whatsoever even remotely discussing there being a difference in the displays. This seems like a bunch of made up hogwash.

It's considerably faster than long holds (which have to be long enough to distinguish between someone just being a little slower and actually trying to do something by holding longer, like moving icons) in my experience, only taking slightly more time than a regular input. If you think these things are taking a long time, I'm willing to wager that you're not really used to it yet (which I think is a fair assumption considering the premise of this thread is that you "never use it").

I have only played with it a couple times (I still have my 6) and I can definitely see where it would come in handy. If I had a 6s I'd be using it frequently.

Why do you need to read an article about it, can you not see with your own eyes that the screen content is sunken when compared to last year's models? This is obviously due to the 3D Touch tech baked into the displays.

I'm not talking about battery life. Like I said, it's absolutely possible that my phone has a display fault as only a few people have mentioned eye fatigue. I was saying that the screen content is sunken when compared to last year's models, and that has something to do with the 3D Touch tech. You can see this when you compare them together so it's undeniable.

I find I use 3D touch a lot to quickly search for apps in the app store, to occasionally create a private Safari browsing session, and to find my way home in maps. I think the feature is so new, so it will take some time for developers (even Apple) to figure out which features are the most useful for force-touching.

Peeking at a web link hasn't been as useful as I thought it would be, because most of the preview page is often taken up by some massive title bar, which leaves very room for showing actual content, even on a 6S+.
