PilotWings is my biggest let down. There's nothing that 'bad' about it - it's just that it doesn't have the magic of past pilotwings.

This seems to be the demo title - is that because it's mearly a 3D version of Pilot Wings 64?

Seems to be the same as the N64 version when I was doing Free Flight on the Island.

Want to see what Starfox is like, though I heard it's also the same as the N64...

It's actually more of an extended version of the Wii Resort's flight game. Same exact island. Everything looks and feels the same.

The 3DS feels like a portable Wii.

I liked Star Fox 64, but I nope it's a new game.

The black 3ds officially beat the iPhone in sexiness

You're joking right? April fools? The 3DS is the ugliest thing to come out of Nintendo manufacturing in a long long while. The DSi was a nice looking handheld, as well as feeling good as far as ergonomics go. The 3DS is a glossy nightmare and should be used as a showcase of what not to do when it comes to industrial design.

Especially the green sorry 'Aqua Blue' version.

Bought Rabbids 3D. It's an OK 2D (quasi 3D) platformer - doesn't really benefit in any shape or form on the 3D handheld. But it plays well enough I suppose (till something better comes out and warrants me trading it in).

Somehow I was expecting to see a lot more praise and excitement for the 3DS after it launched....

The 3D effect seems to trigger mixed reactions. Other than that...there really doesn't seem to be anything truly exciting about it? I don't see any "wow, those graphics!!" or "holy cow, this thing is fast/powerful" type comments.

The general vibe I am getting from here and other places is more like "pretty neat", rather than "wow, so awesome".

Because that's exactly the response.

The 3DS graphics are roughly the same as PSP, so nothing new (and in fact, so 2005) and hence nothing to jump up and down about. Sure, it's better than the DS...

The 3D is mixed reactions because it's...meh. The consensus is that it's cool for a while, after which your eyes hurt, or the battery dies, or you get fed up with losing the sweet spot all the time. It's got the wow factor of being a new technology, but no real lasting appeal.

I had a 3DS for three days, sent it back. Totally underwhelmed.

I think it's because the launch titles suck.

I like the 3D effect. It feels like you're looking into a box, instead of at a screen. Headaches, losing the sweet spot, etc, are a non-factor for me. And what they did with the AR is pretty awesome.

But no killer game. Which makes it a revolutionary piece of hardware that barely has anything to show off what it can do.

I bought my 3DS for Zelda, so as it's not out yet. It's just what it is.

The original DS wasn't exactly a WOW factor at launch and for many -- especially the press -- it was considered a complete joke as they praised the PSP. Its launch line up was worse than the 3DS, but years later its games and sales speak for itself.

Anyways, the 3DS just needs titles. It's a solid portable gaming system with no shortage of GREAT DS games to play on it until 3DS titles start to role in.

Hopefully, not merely updated N64 titles... ;)

Yes, even with the 3D off - the games look nice...

I see it as a portable Wii, which could bring something much worse than a few key games from the n64, but a slew of shovelware from lazy-cash-in-devs like Ubisoft.

One thing I'm looking forward to on this, is its Virtual Console. With the higher rez screen it can handle the older SNES and Genesis titles.

The NDS (at least in the UK) launched with Mario 64 DS and Wario Ware Touched, two great games rated 85 and 81 by metacritic.com respectively.

The 3DS has Street Fighter.

Those were the two good games... Then there were things like Pac-Pix, Pokémon Rush etc. Also the original DS was really ugly, especially compared to the PSP :) In the end though, DS Lite came out as the winner.

One thing I really liked about the DS was that it came with a Metroid Prime Hunters demo, so there was at least something to play with immediately. Same thing with the AR cards included with the 3DS.

I'm really looking forward to future 3DS games, but then I always remember how the thing is region locked :( I have lots of Japanese and American games, for example Ouendan 1 & 2, Taiko no Tatsujin, Phoenix Wright etc. Many of these games didn't come out in Europe at all or came around a year late.

Any games scheduled for it? What about NEC TG games?

Atari's Greatest Hits the buzz on the iPhone/Touch/iPad right now... ;)

Not sure, but here's hoping this year.

And a HUGE YAWN to Atari's greatest hits. I downloaded it for my DOUCHE-iPad and tried out the free pong game. As usual, smudge screen controls are ***** for most games that require reflex. But it's definitely easier to play them on a larger screen than a tiny phone screen, where one's thumbs cover a large portion of the screen.

If I had an iCade, I'd buy some of the arcade games from the collection, but not the Atari games... But the problem there, is then I've lost portability.

And on this subject about old games. On my Nexus One, my Android phone, I have an emulator for all my favorite consoles, including of which the Atari. I bought/downloaded all my emulators directly from Android's Market Place -- something I'd have to jailbreak my iPad to do -- and with a utility I downloaded, I can connect my Wiimote to my phone via bluetooth and then plug my Classic Controller into it for superb controls. The only glaring issue here, is that for portability, this is not practical. Now if only someone would release a tiny Bluetooth joystick at a local retail store, I'd buy it.

Anyways, I wants the VC on my DS, as its controls are integrated and nice. Here's hoping that Nintendo will allow me to transfer the games I bought for the Wii to the 3DS.

I forgot about those two and with Mario 64, I recall hating the touch-screen analog stick, so never completed it. Wario Ware was fun though and that's a game I borrowed. But the rest, bleh! I played Zelda Minish Cap on my DS when I first got it and then finally finished Zelda LttP(GBA), so at least I had games to play that I enjoyed.

Won't be buying Street Fighter, Capcom is on my *****-list, oh and I've always hated playing fighter games on any portable.

The iOS has some good games, but older games made for joystick/buttons/paddles don't quite cut it. I can't imagine Tempest with at least buttons (though the knob is ideal).

I like TRON and the game for the DS you have to use the touchscreen for some of the battles. The Tank and Disc battles the stylus/finger gets in the way of the playing screen.

The PSP version you just use the buttons, keeping the screen clear for viewing.

I think Sony's design of a rear touchpad on the new PSP will be the answer to a lot of "mobile touch gaming".

Yeah, the touchscreen isn't there for most established games, but for the games that can take advantage of it and don't rely on twitch movement, games that are more casual in nature, it's a very cool way to play, like World of Goo.

That PSP opens lots of options, like a real pointer. =O
