So, I picked one up the other day. Trying to find the "sweet spot" is really annoying. I'm assuming your supposed to keep adjusting the 3DS and your head until you don't see two images anymore, and that's the so-called sweet spot?

Honestly, I don't really see that much of a difference. There's a little more depth to with 3D effect (but it's not in your face like a 3D ride at Disney World or like Avatar where stuff was floating in the air). The AR games are neat except they require a cardboard card (Really Nintendo? Wasn't this idea a huge failure with Animal Crossing e-Reader on the GameCube?)

Pilotwings is also pretty terrible. I can't wait for the Virtual Console to launch. I'm glad Super Mario Land will be a launch title. Hopefully, Nintendo will iron out the 3DS kinks in time.

Between the 3DS and my Fuji W3, I've learned how to find the sweet spot

Usually when you look at an LCD you focus your eyes on the surface of the LCD. With the 3DS, you need to focus either past the LCD plane or in front of it for two images to come together into a single 3D image. Most of the games, like Pilotwings, have the 3D depth behind the LCD plane so 90% of the time you just pretend you're looking through a window at a distant object and the image comes together.

If you keep treating the LCD like a 2D LCD and focus directly on the LCD plane, that's when you get headaches.

I tried out the 3DS and took it back the next day. I didn't really see a big difference either.

Thanks! Just did!

Cool. Excite Bike is free. But I just paid for Zelda DX, which is kind of sad, considering I've paid less for modern games on STEAM.

++++

GRRRR!!! There's now a 0.2¢ balance. So I'll have to buy 97 more games to get rid of it. >=\

Yeaahh but it's LA! Few games are as good as LA. Very very few!

I played it half way or so on my DS via a, err, anyways. I think that's why I bought it -- partially out of guilt, because even when I demo something, I always end up getting it later.

Anyways, I plan on finishing it now.

I also bought Super Mario Land, the very first Super Mario game I played from start to end. :)

And since I now have a 2¢ balance on my DS, Nintendo better bring me Buck Rogers Doomsday and Starflight to buy once again. ALong with every game I've already bought on my Wii, just so I can clear it out. THis was VERY EVIL of Nintendo and very Microsoft like.

Already picked up Ocarina yesterday.

It's the same game I played on the N64 orignally and the Gamecube (Zelda Master Collection)....

Sad that the best game on the 3DS is a decade old and I've already played it multiple formats before....

I think Nintendo hit the nail on the head with this "Classics in 3D" idea. There are loads of games I'd love to play again in HD, 3D, portable, etc. So I'm happy paying full whack for Ocarina 3D, Lylat Wars 3D, MGS3 3D.

I hope we see Mario Sunshine and Windwaker on the 3DS before the next gen.

Apparently Professor Layton is teaming up with Phoenix Wright to release a game. I am definitely getting a 3DS if that is released, but now they are only apparently going to release it in Japan :(

That sucks. I love the Layton games and Phoenix Wright's objections more. Hopefully they do release it in the US. And hopefully they release Mask of Miracle over here too.

Picked up Ocarina of time today and I'm enjoying it immensely.

Where you expecting something different?

It's Ocarina of Time in 3d, they never said it would be anything else

No not at all. It is what it is, but it's still a sad indictment of a 'new' machine and 'new hardware' when the best game on it is essentially a decade old.

For all the 'innovation' in the world, it's telling that's all.

Other than minor update to the graphics, the only thing they have added is the gyroscope features to look around and 3D which together = disaster.

There are things that simply DO NOT WORK on the 3DS, and the new 'look around feature' with the gyroscope is a complete load of balls. The 3DS 3D sweet spot is so small that having this feature where you use the gyroscope to look around & aim means that you are having to move the 3DS out of the sweet spot making both feature utterly useless & redundant.

So far other than a 3D screen there has been NOTHING on the 3DS that shows any real innovation, and software wise the 3D adds little to the experience so far other than depleting your battery far quicker.

I love nintendo, but I often feel it's past it's hay day. So much so that it's re-releasing old titles to try and capture it, and all it does is remind me that those time have all past. It could be just a case that I'm a 30 something gamer and Nintendo are simply no longer catering for those that grew up with it or care for that matter. I'm too young for the casual 'brain age' demographic, and too old to discover these 'remaster gems' because I still remember them like I played them yesterday.

I don't think it's that bad at all.

Ocarina of Time has never had a boxed re-released, it was a bonus item for Windwaker preorders and a quietly released download for the Wii. Even Sonic 1 has had more boxed re-releases over the years (but that is all that Sega does these days).

I reckon that even if Kid Icarus and [any other big launch] were available for the 3DS that OoT would still be massive. It's one of the best games after all.

Next up... MGS3 3D.

I don't disagree, the 3DS is on my radar, but I'm not interested till it drops in price and gets some games.

Personally I think it's more of an indictment of the launch lineup than the system

I agree. You can't use the gyro and 3D together without losing the sweet spot. At the same time I like how they put 3D in the game and I like the gyro features like how holding the left button down will make the camera match the gyro.

I never played the original though so whatever

I'm with you guys on the gryo and 3D, it's a bad combo and I agree with what you stated about launch line up Liquorpuki.

Anyways I'm picking up OoT shortly and I'm looking forward to playing it again, just getting ready to head out. Will be a good way to kill some time on the plane.
