Guess what my friend the store manager at my local AT&T store did. He photoshopped the original memo Saying June 15th to June 1st because he knew it would get me really excited. What an ********....

I am really sorry for the false alarm, and if you need someone to blame on giving you this false hope (wildcardd ), blame me. I went along with it and I should have known better... :(

No worries J. I have grown a thick, skeptical skin over the years. I won't get too excited until I hear it from Steve-o. :D

That's good to know. I just developed my first layer of "skeptical skin" since this happened. :D

Yeah that is quality isn't it! My mate was saying he could only get pirate copies of dvds to work on there and not legals? Weird that, because its fine for al dvds with me on a Mac!

So my new predictions on release.

http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/05/23/att_once_again_hiring_retail_temps_for_june.html
In what is becoming an identifiable pattern, AT&T is once again on the prowl for temp workers to bolster its ranks for a 'mystery' campaign during the early summer.

A call has been put out through the Kelly Services temp agency that will see workers join AT&T's wireless division as greeters for a project known only as "Summer Project Pro."

While scarce on details of what the position entails, the request is a near-mirror of the cellular provider's efforts for the iPhone launch last year and hints that the company expects a repeat sales rush for a next-generation product this year.

In June of 2007, AT&T hired short-term workers for what ultimately amounted to crowd control. The new hires steered customers quickly through retail stores to ensure that all buyers, iPhone or otherwise, were well-treated regardless of the added store traffic.

Like the earlier plan, the latest recruiting drive also provides a familiar two-month work span for successful candidates. Work would begin on June 16th and end almost exactly three months later, on August 16th.

And along with the no time off at ATT stores beginning June 15, I am going to guess that we hear the Announcement at WWDC on June 9th (t0mat0 Day). Then release the phone on June 20th.

This gives the ATT temps about a week to train along with employees who shouldn't be taking any trips so they can receive the training as well.

Also this gives nearly two weeks worth of publicity and build up until the phone is released. Perhaps they will have an embargo on anyone reviewing the phone until the 17th or 18th, giving a last minute boost to gain some traction.

Only 13 days until WWDC

Only 13 days until WWDC, can't wait to see if they update the Iphone.

I am more likely get one if it has 3G and a better camera with video recording, 3 megapixels or better.

i heard the iPhone was being canceled

like the newton and cube

WOW I hope this is true, that would be so awesome! I mean, imagine, NOT owning an iPhone, that would be the coolest thing ever and would ROCK! :)

On a seperate note, is 'tomato' latin for windbag?

I can see it now....!

WWDC Comes and Apple unveils all kinds of new Mac software updates, Leopard updates, new redesigned MacBooks and even an update to .Mac so things would actually work.

BUT NO IPHONE!

Then all the :mad::mad::mad: icons will flood the Macrumors gates.

;)
Ah, don't worry. People will still be pissed over something iPhone-related if a new iPhone comes out, as always.

But yeah, Apple has to make their priorities straighter in all of the categories that you mentioned.

Much happen this weekend?

Looks like to me, the majority of Northern and Western Europe has carriers assigned it seems, with the Singtel deals and China's movements looking likely to help in several large markets. A good resource

Windows 7 - the one after Vista. Getting blood out of a stone: here
I like how 64 bit isn't seen as mainstream, and a complete inability to pitch well. That and using IE 8 as a prime example of how they work (nothing mentioned, people clamouring for news, and already late...)

Don't forget tomorrow = the start of Google's 2 day I/O event

6pm BST. macrumors will go macrumors live, giving live text & pictures, and gizmodo and Engadget will probably have a codpiece fightoff all for themselves.

The unnammed WWDC Sessions
1 Tuesday Morning,
4 on Tuesday Afternoon,
4 on Wednesday Afternoon,
4 on Thursday morning
1 on Thursday Afternoon,
4 on Friday Morning,
2 on Friday Afternoon

All of these a week and a half later, and with <14 days to go, still haven't been given descriptions. Odds on they're going to only be announced post keynote.

With all this tunnel-vision focus on the iPhone mk II, pretty much any other upcoming product could fly under the radar. So I'm excited about those other things that aren't the iPhone 2. New MacBook aluminum enclosures, an iPhone 'nano', revamped Mac Mini, consumer desktop to fill the gap between iMac and Mac Pro, some tablet thingamabob, and possibly some new software. Software is easier to keep under wraps as there are no third parties involved who can inadvertently spill the beans.
