i doubt anyone would actually spend $700 for a phone. problem with that is that even though the canadian dollar is at par with the U.S., prices are always higher in canada, so that would probably make a 32GB iPhone around $750-$800 and when you can get a blackberry or a HTC Touch for 150-200 tops i doubt anyone would go for an $800 iPhone, no matter how good it is.

It's not just a phone. That is merely the icing on the cake, as it was with the current model. My feelings anyway.

The fact that the iPhone will be using a single 32 gig flash chip makes sense in the other pricing. They are not cheap.

Assuming the case is redesigned, which all speculation and rumor seems to point to, it should mean they could easily fit two 16GB flash chips in.

Those specs may or may not be correct, but if they are, I'm convinced there will be another piece of the puzzle - e.g. a lower-cost EDGE model for $299.

If Apple is serious about making this a mainstream device, there's just no way they'll be *raising* the price of the iPhone, when they need to be edging it down.

No Way!

This would never happen... Think About it:

2 Models (16 and 32 Gigabytes)
x 3 Colors (Black, White and Red [If Not More Colors]
___
6 models at the very least. Then when you include at least 1 cheap model that would make a total of 7 models minimum.

This means that every single Apple and AT&T store would have to be trying to maintain a stock of at least 7 different iPhone models at all times. This just wouldn't happen. Apple and AT&T stores are having a hard enough time keeping 2 iPhone models in stock!

Not Gonna Happen,
TheYankees1903 :apple:

P.S. One possible solution that no one has discussed yet is that each color may be a different removable face plate. Then there would only be three models minimum (16 Gigabyte 3G, 32 Gigabyte 3G and a Low End Model).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

I was one of the lemmings who stood in line for 5 hours on launch day for version 1.0. I think I'll pass this time especially if the prices are over $400 and ATT doesn't subsidize.

One of the chips is going to be taken up by the 3g chip probably, just like the EDGE is now. If they somehow can fit in, great, as that will help the price, or double the capacity (can anyone say, 64 gig iPhone:cool:).

If they add GPS, 3g, and a Video/higher resolution camera, I doubt there will be room, but you never know with the genius of the Apple engineers.

I really am just hoping for MUCH better speakers.

If these price points are correct, then I agree with others that a lower end model is in the works. If they were going to just lower the price of the current model, then there wouldn't be supply shortages.

Ignoring the price for a minute...

How do you think video conferencing would be implemented? Would this be an option when on a call, or would it work with some kind of messenger?

Videos would probably upload to YouTube seamlessly - too bad, I'm way more into the new Flickr video.

GPS would be interested. One thing that would absolutely rock is Google Street View integration. That's a tall order, though - I wonder what an Apple-designed GPS would look (and sound!) like.

Hi, Flick is intergrated in the Apple TV, I'm sure It will be in the new iPhone.

new iPhone

3G-8GB-$299.00
3G-16GB-$399.00
3G-32GB-$499.00

8GB-$199.00

wait and see...

That is the only way to sell over 10M in 2008

as much as I'm excited for this phone there is no chance in the world I will pay more than the 400/500 USD price point Apple has set now...

I was one of the suckers who bought the phone for $600 -- fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me

Unfortunately the prices sound right to me! $699 is steep but the Functionality will be out of this world! Other phones may have 3G and GPS etc but when it is implemented correctly it is effectively allowing you to replace a multitude of devices with your iPhone. That appears to be the angle taken so far and could very well continue. Steve will spell it out and sell it in such a way that it wont sound so bad!! LOL

$699 for 6 devices
Phone
iPod
High Speed Internet Device
Portable/Automobile GPS Unit
Video Communicator
32Gb Flash Drive :)

$700 for a disposable phone is outrageous. Stop drinking the Kool Aid guys! I'm outraged that some of you are even considering it. People were freaking out about the PS3 being what was it $400 or $500 dollars. Think of the technology in a ps3! Don't give me this yeah a $300 price jump for 16Gigs is reasonable, I should slap you.

I vote same prices if not less. If you think about it the price to make a ps3 is way more that they actually sell it. They make more money on software. Now that we have an App store in which apple makes a profit off of every single sale (minus free) they can afford to lower the price point to make the phone more attractive. Plus when you factor in contract supplements its a no brainer.

I actually called Apple cause I'm going nuts woundering when the new iPhone will be coming and one of the workers there had told me that "The new iPhone will be 3G, with GPS, video calling / video chat, video recorder, better camera, will be slightly thicker, flush headset jack, and there will actually be a function for you to be able to watch t.v. from your iPhone" altho these rumors from them are not confirmed thats what most of them told me. And yes there will be a black iPhone from the rumors that ATT had told me. They said there might be a 8Gb iPhone a 16 for shure and maybe a 32GB. The price range they have quoted where around the same price range as the old iPhone but Apple and ATT are working on making the phone available for upgrades. a.k.a Lower price with a new activation or a extended plan.

You are correct. Its retarded that Apple does that. We all got fooled into buying a $600 USD iPhone. But as I know just from  and AT&T the iPhone should be around the same price range as what they are now. Altho the 32 GB iPhone.... That is one thing I can't fully confirm. According to Apple, 32GB iPhone will be out sometime in 2008 for shure, but the price range will be about $100 more then the 16 GB. *Cough* As always....

500$ for 32GB, or im not buying one at all.

The MBA is priced based on what flash cost back when it came out. Flash has come down since then.

I see:

8GB no 3g- $299
16GB with 3g - $399
32GB with 3G - $499

iphone wont go over $499, things are getting more and more expensive these days (gas), theyll lose a lot of sales, and my sale.

You know what you here in a basketball game when the referees make a bad call? Bull ****.

"I called Apple up" yeah, oldest trick in the book. How does it feel that even Steve Jobs is laughing at you at the moment? :)

For the people that are saying that the iPhone will be subsidized by AT&T, how would that work for people who are buying one from the Apple store instead of from AT&T? I don't want to wait outside AT&T for mine...

I called up Apple and they told me the same thing, only they told me it was going to cost $1! And would be edible!

I actually called Apple cause I returned my phone and now I have some crappy phone and can't wait for the 3g iPhone, I keep asking them for updates. The stuff I posted is all true. Apple reps said "They only know as much as what we know." And according to what they said all the above is true according to their rumors. Apple is also curios as well as we are about the new iphone *Cough* BS. I truly think they know. But just letting yall know. They said that 2.0 for iPhone will come out in late June. The new iPhone will be out in ate June also. Or maybe after WWDC.
If ya don't believe me Call them up. 1(800)myapple | 1(800)6927753.

The gap of 16 GB storage in the iPod touch shows a $100 difference.

16GB iPod touch = $399
32GB iPod touch = $499

8GB iPhone = $399
16GB iPhone = $499
32GB iPhone = $599

Apple holds a $100 difference between a 16GB iPod touch and a 16GB iPhone, $100 for the phone. 32GB iPod touch $499 32GB iPhone $599.

Yeah, a $599 32GB iPhone is more believable to me, too.

I do hope they make the new iPhone lighter, that'd be very nice.
