Look on the bottom right corner.

If you look on the bottom right corner it looks like a slight color change. in the shape of a rectangle. Seems to me that the font on the back of this looks right and the lens of the camera is flush with the case. I suspect the small shape on the bottom corner is the new antenna? Looks like a factory job to me. I only wonder why whoever took this picture didnt take both the front and the back.

I agree with you. Noting the keypad, high ceiling with glass to the top, based on reflections one could presume this was taken inside a Cupertino office. Walls are plain white too with nothing on them (typical of the office).

But as a note. One could take a picture of a FLAT glossy black piece then bend it in GIMP in about 20mins. However to look like THIS, would take a little longer. Photoshop pro could probably wipe the floor with my skills but still doable. A lot of work but doable.

Apple does not purposefully make up rumors of new products, let alone draft fake mock-ups for already existing products. Why? Because those who haven't gotten and iPhone and are unaware just might see it and hold off on purchasing.

They want to sell their iPhone as is right now. Not lower sales.

It's fake! I took the image to Photoshop and altered the levels to see how it looks in a lighter version. Well the lower part is looking very strange!

Most pictures look weird if you do that with them. Keep in mind the source here is a low quality JPEG that makes artifacts.

I don't think that thing is photoshopped. I think it's one of the original prototypes. They might have tried different case styles. This could be fiberglass in the picture. Fiberglass is lightweight, robust and lets through signal unlike aluminum.

This might well be a non-functional dummy to test out the shape and balance of the product. The iPhone is pretty close to perfection in terms of ergonomics in my opinion. When I hold it in my left hand, the top button is right at my index fingertip, the volume rocker and ringer-switch are right where my thumb is. Also the weight is nicely balanced. You have to actually make some test dummies to see if the button placement is right, if the finish is too glossy or grainy, etc. Personally, I think the glossy black would suck: with sweaty or greasy hands, the phone would slip out of your grip too easily.

Notice the shorter text on the back, maybe missing the FCC number.

The glossy back would probably get scratched and smudged big time.

Besides, if it was real, wouldn't it have a reflection of the person with a camera on it?

A couple of things to point out here... on the back of this i would think that they would put "3G" somewhere on it down by all the writing.. another thing why didn't they take a picture of the front of this to.... and i dont know why apple would make that because that would be a complete fingerprint nightmare...... also another thing to point out is that this might also be a photoshopped thing because like the person above me pointed out there is no reflection of the person taking the picture

Also about the companies that make stuff like this for the iphone they could of just took both the silver and the bottom black piece off and fitted this one piece to fit over both spots..

Just My Thoughts:apple::apple:

looks to me that's the new cheap version of iPhone. One piece glossy plastic back/ 8gb. Cheap to produce and a best seller to come. iPhone for everyone. The high end models will keep the aluminum back and get 16 and 32gb. That's what of could be...

So covert... More yes than No. But who uses their laptop on the pot?

I would say the majority of laptop owners with WIFI have taken their laptop to the bathroom. I did... now I just use my iPhone to keep myself entertained on long pooping sessions :p

One reason I love the current iPhone is that the back can't be scratched easily and the chrome rim is the only vulnerable part. This glossy black back looks like it would be a scratch MAGNET. It just looks like nothing more than cheap plastic- not sophisticated, practical, nor pleasing to look at.

Hm I think it could be real, BUT it is the 'budget' iPhone not the high-end.

iPhone 8gb $249 ?
iPhone Pro 16gb $399
iPhone Pro 32gb $499

All models include 3G, front facing camera.
Pro models include GPS, and obviously increased capacity. Also- aluminum casing.

Other hardware changes- 3.2mp camera on both models.

Hasn't stopped apple before.

But why does it have to be low quality? It seems convenient that it is low quality if it's going to be Photoshopped. Most fake images are grainy.

I may have missed it in the last 7 pages.
but I for one don't think there's a chance that by the time we hit iPhone 2 it will still come in 8gb flavor.

Haven't posted in a long time but I think this is really interesting!

It's really smart how the person who took the picture compared it to the open bottom half of a MacBook Pro. I think when you look at it, the iPhone appears to be a few millimeters (sorry for the imperialists) shorter in length. 8GB does appear to be quite low on the Apple standard... If this is a fake, then these people weren't all that intelligent, why didn't use a 16GB iPhone?!

Maybe it's just me, but the camera on the phone looks a little tilted to the side (maybe just me).

Best regards

Puma

This caught my eye; could you expand on it please?

True comment about Intel Atom, but they are not ready for small devices yet. Not until 2010. Just read the wikipedia article on it, or Anandtech has a great article about it. Gen 2 will still be ARM.

Well if you're at work and security is high you can't break out the SLR can you. Looking at the reflection of the picture taker, he may have used another iPhone to take the picture. We all know how quality that camera is

its not the new iphone back. unless jobs is smoking the weed. It looks like a nice custom back, but not something that would appeal to the masses.

Entry model. Imagine a $250 or $200 model. Just enough to cover costs, and sit back and collect the contract royalties. Especially since 8GB is still large comparing the capacity of other mobile phones with mp3 playing capabilities.

I'd buy it. It looks like the Air's design. It really is quite possible. But just as equally impossible. I rather think it's fake so that when the real one shows up it has a flash.

Why? They don't put 2G on the current one. And how is it being a fingerprint nightmare any different than any other Apple product that is a fingerprint nightmare.

The reflection is clearly there on the bottom if you look for it. Lighten it up in photoshop using levels and stretch it out. You get the profile of someone holding a camera with both hands.

You're right. Regardless of this being a mock-up or not, it seems that "figerprintish product" are becoming the norm at Apple these days.
