i do think that it could very well be the real thing.

No way. This thing is so damned ugly I would lose faith in Jonathan Ive if he designed something that looked like that. The current iPhone is sleek and sexy. That thing looks like an awkward chunk of shininess. I would not upgrade to a phone that looked like that...

If they actually go with that tacky polished black plastic, it will scratch so badly :(

The current design is perfect, everything except the chrome bezel is pretty much scratch resistant.

Totally TACKY and I hope to god it does not look like that. The black is OK but High Gloss??? It will scratch way to easy and show scuffs. Flat/Matte black would be acceptable and it depends on what the front looks like. The silver bezel has GOT to go!!!

Nope, I would have to say that this is someone's fantasy photo shop again!

Yeah, I'm incline to say fake; on the off chance that this is a mock-up I'll be very concerned about scratches!

I doubt it, pretty easy to photoshop, and not to mention it seems like a fairly radical change, it reminds me of my Creative Zen Stone, which is a complete finger print magnet.

I also can't see Apple radically changing the design, from flat and sleek to bubbly and kinda lame, especially material wise, after all a lot of the newer Apple products have taken the design idea of the iPhone (iMac and Macbook Air)

Well, if this photo is real you can bet it was taken by an Apple employee. So it stands to reason that they are out on the street corner holding a box of their desk junk by now.

No.
It's not looking more like the real thing.

I know this is called "Mac Rumors," but come on, how gullible are some of you people?

Not saying it is real or fake, because there have been numerous instances of both.

I remember the touch-screen iPod..... then the follow-up video. However, I also remember the fatty iPod and the thin Apple keyboard...

EDIT: I still stand by my comment, but I personally believe it is a photo of a black Colorware iPhone. The gap was filled and the text was added with Photoshop.

NOooooooo!

I really hope this isn't the phone, it means another rubbish 2mp camera with no optical zoom and certainly no flash!

I don't think i would bother upgrading, as they will soon be releasing a firmware upgrade for edge anyway!

.....add the "speckled" look and the (apparently) more curvy shape, and it seems we have to be looking at a fibreglass housing, and not a metal one......

So... wild prediction is we are looking at a cheap-ass fibreglass shell "iPhone nano" from the rear.

I think fiberglass would be a terrible material. Why use it and not plastic?

I can't believe Apple would go back to glossy, scratchy materials again. They learned with the first gen iPod Nano.

Can you say "PAGE 2?" Don't waste our time with this crap please.

Why would you waste time posting this at all?

#1 You don't have to spend any time on this
#2 This has generated lots of discussion
#3 This is a website who's entire purpose is to discuss this stuff, real or not.

In other news, I warped up iTunes in approximately the same position as it appears in the reflection, because, you know, I should be doing my real job. Anyways, for academic reasons, here you all go:

I ran across this pic on web. Wow that looks HOT!

The blog I found it on: ipodobserver.com

Fake.

Why? Very simple and obvious.

The case is stated to be a glossy black. Thus, there would not be an engraving on it - especially if it's a black plastic. When has Apple ever put an engraving on a glossy material, or any other material for that fact other than Chrome or Anodized Metal? Answer = Never.

I think it's a colorware iphone that's been photoshopped to remove the line between the halves and to change the position of the text. Although if it is real I for one welcome our new iPhone design.

Are you kidding? So everybody can show off they have the latest and greatest Apple product of course! Every new iPod has looked different between generations, I'm sure Apple will do the same for the phone.

It's been said before, by myself and others, but this isn't true. The iPod has gone through very few form changes. For the first several years of the iPod's production the only changes were the user interface changes, i.e. the spinning wheel becoming a touch-sensitive wheel and ultimately the current clickable wheel.

In fact, in its six years the iPod really hasn't changed much at all with regard to form factor. Increasing the size of the screen, changing the scroll wheel and making it thinner and available in black is about the extent of it. The mini, shuffle, nano and touch are all separate products.

Considering the user interface of the iPhone - one button and a touch screen - is a huge part of the revolutionary iPhone, I sincerely doubt there will be any significant changes to the form factor. In fact, from a marketing standpoint, it would be considered a poor move to make significant changes to such a young, popular device.

My guess: the new iPhone may be a bit thinner, have a new color option or two and a second camera. Aside from that all upgrades will be speed (processing and 3G) and internal memory.
