This is actually a feature. As soon as it hears a British accent, it assumes you need a dentist.
Sorry, couldn't resist!![]()
Also, just a tip, if you have an issue every time you try to play a certain playlist or call a certain person, here is a possible fix.
Every time I try to play songs by Tool, it doesnt work. it either calls someone or plays songs from someone else. So I created a playlist with Tool in it and named it ONE. So now I say, "Play playlist ONE" instead of play songs by Tool.
Also works for my wife. Her name is Diane but it always thinks Im saying Brian, so I created a second contact for her named... you guessed it... WIFE. Call Wife now works perfectly!
And you don't even have to go that far. If you add Wife to her original contact as her nickname, it'll call her with just one contact.Nicknames are a great way to distinguish between similar contacts.
LOL
So when it talks in an American accent does it call your plastic surgeon or your therapist?

I really hope this happens but Im not sure it will. It seems like Apple just used the current voice command software that the new shuffles have, and I dont think the shuffles will ever need to launch apps or change settings. But it would be nice if key words accessed different parts of the voice command. for example,
"Play" of course launches the iPod app
"Call" you guessed it...
"Launch" would launch apps
"Change" would access settings.
I think it should have the "Tell me a joke" command like on the Mac voice control!
Remember back in the day? "Tell me a joke"... then the computer would say:
"Knock knock"
You say "Who's there"
"Orange"
You say "Orange who?"
"Orange you glad you bought a Macintosh?"
I connect the iPhone to my car via a cassette tape adapter, but when it is plugged into the headphone jack, voice command doesn't work at all. It's apparently looking for sound from the headphone jack (via the Apple earphones), but I'm not using those. Any solutions to this?

What year is this? I did not know anyone had a cassette player anymore!
Does it work with bluetooth car stereos?
On another note you could cut a set of iphone headphones up and set it up that way. Or just a thought. I know on ebay you can buy a 2 inch headphone adapter that just plugs in the ipone, has a mic and call button, then a 3.5mm jack. They are made so you can use any set of headphones. If you plug the cassette adapter into that it could work. I know I bought one like a year ago for 2 bucks shipped!
Yeah I guess I'll have to do that.
It's just weird to me that the phone can't detect the difference between a headset with a mic and one without. Wearing a regular headset (or in my case, using a cassette adapter), you should be able to just speak into the phone to issue a voice command.
Maybe 3.1 will fix this.
連絡先に載っている相手に電話をかける: 「電話」または「電話をかける」と言った後に、相手の名前を言います。
If i say 『電話をかける<名前>』 like listed above, it always doesn't understand. To make a voice call in japanese, i always have to say 『<名前>に電話をかける』 This way, my iPhone also understood.
相手が複数の番号を持っている場合は、「自 宅」や「携帯」などを追加できます。
This also never works for me. It's neither my, nor my pronouniciation's fault. Even native japanese speaker won't get this situation to work.
「次の曲」または「前の曲」と言うこともできます。
Also, when i tell my iPhone to go to 『前の曲』 , it starts this current song from the beginning.
現在再生中の曲の詳細を検索する 「曲名は?」、「この曲の名前は?」、「誰の曲?」、または「歌っ ているのは誰?」と言います。
This works flawless as long as the singer is japanese and i set the correct furigana into itunes.
But it was actually obvious, that other languages than (american-)english won't work properly.
