This thread is to inform users of any speed issues on the 3G handset. There has been numerous comments that the GM seed was slow on the 3G handset. For anyone that has installed the 21 June Release can you post your experiences on the 3G handset with iOS 4 installed in relation to speed etc? Thanks
Just restore as new. Mine is jailbroken as well and works perfect. I find it just as fast as 3.1.3 - Don't know why others are getting slow load times.
I have iOS4 on my 3G and it's pretty slow. Sometimes, when I tried to open music player, it just shuts down the music player while trying to load. Typing MMS messages is also slow. It takes 1-2 seconds to type a letter... It's maybe because I have iOS4 GM from WWDC. I'll need to reinstall with official iOS4 and check if the speed improves.
No problems with battery life, or speed. Even with multitasking, background wallpaper and battery percentage it works great!
It is currently taking forever to 'backup'. Been 30 mins so far and the progress bar has barely moved. Once it is done I will let you know!
Been running os4 GM for 2 weeks and it absolutely rips on my phone. You will notice the camera is lightning fast now.
Yep. Longest backup I've ever seen... Not giving me an estimated time remaining either. Crap- now I'm having second thoughts about taking my phone out of commission in the middle of the day. Anyone know; if I get a call, will it pause the backup? Crap it out? Cancel it? Go to voicemail? Is the install process at least going to take a reasonable amount of time?
I've got a text message and it is still going. Dunno about calls. This is painfully slow though, I've been backing up now for 35 mins and am maybe 10% through.
You are obviously not the people he is asking the question of unless you jailbroke your phone. He is asking those with *3G* s how their experience is. If you are multi tasking on your phone, then you have a *3GS* which has more RAM and will not be a good teller of how well iOS4 works on a *3G*.
Ok, once it gets passed the 'c' in Backing it flies through - all done now and phone is restoring to iOS4!
You can skip the back up. Click on the X in the status window. It will then start syncing. However, do not do this if you haven't backed up recently. if you plan to use a restore for your new iP4 then you will need the restore point. I skip the back up a lot and it always syncs with the changes done on the phone side and the itunes side.
That's what I thought. However, it slows down my 3G phone. Oh well, I just need to wait for 3 more days and switch to iPhone 4~~~~~
For those of you with Klingon iTunes, the backup will be super fast once it gets past the KAARRRRRRGRGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
