Failed. Tim is making bigger iPhone bettter but we want the same function & quality for the same price.

iPhone 7 = 32GB, dual lense camera + OIS, 3GB memory, headphone jack, water proof, wireless charging = $650
iPhone 7+ = 32GB, dual lense camera + OIS, 3GB memory, headphone jack, water proof, wireless charging = $650

Nothing's more fun than having two tabs open and switch back and forth requires a refresh because RAM. Keep up the segregation. All models should have 4gig at a minimum.

Will Safari still constantly reload? I'm on the 6 and it does, not sure if this was fixed in the 6s?

It was fixed with 6S. My 6S+ never reloads and I am a heavy safari user who uses lots of tabs. I'm not impressed with my 6S+ battery life though, it is nothing to be impressed about... Maybe that's the price of more RAM. (I got a Apple watch, don't know how much that matters? My four year old iP4 has better batterylife anyway)

I concur, not to him but only after Cougarcat pointed it out to me. :)

This seems plausible, but wait they're going to reduce the prices of the 4.7" iPhone?
I thought the SE would be the low cost entry variant no?

Well SE is a true entry at 399 USD and at the same time the sell the old iPhone 5s stock for 299 Euros.

The entry version of iPhone 7 is rumored to go from 649 to 549 so the SE is still mutch cheaped. This will keep it more competative with the cheap high end phones flooding from China.

A Pro version at a higher price will make up for the decline in the entry price for the standard version.

Apple needs to maintain volume to maintain their overall margin and this is done by using same components in more models.

The SE uses more or less the same chipset as the iPhone 6s/6s plus which is needed to get the volumes up sine the 6s/6s plus does not sell enough on their own.

Apples biggest strenght has been to by high quality components at low price based on large buying volumes. This cannot be maintained on selling one or two SKUs anymore and thus we see more versions of iPad and iPhone showing up.

It probably won't need it but then again, that dual-camera might take up a lot of RAM. Makes sense to add it to the larger model only.
This doesn't make sense at all. At least it doesn't make sense from a business perspective. The rumored inclusion of 3GB of RAM in one or both of the phones is a simple accounting exercise. Is it more cost effective to purchase a large quantity of 3GB chips or more cost effective to buy 2GB/3GB chips based on the historical sales data of the SE/6S/6S+. Factor in sales projections for the SE and 7 series, project supply of each chip, and make a decision based on which option gives the best bang for the buck.

Sure, the feature set of the new phones will factor into the equation, but to a much lesser degree than chip cost and availability. It makes even less sense when you think about what you actually said. Do you really think the camera would tie up even a GB of RAM during operation? It's not like the camera would be in continuous operation. Plus Apple is known for it's process efficiency.

I'll say it again, the only difference between models should always be screen size (and the obvious battery differences). Throwing better stuff at the larger model is an insult.

Unless there's 3 phone models now this isn't going to increase $100 in price. Apple's not going to have a $200 price difference in phone models. They can upsell people $100 but not $200. But I wouldn't be surprised if the Plus name gets dropped and we have iPhone in 4.7" and 5.5" sizes and a Galaxy a Note clone called iPhone Pro that will be $100 more than the 5.5" iPhone and will come with 3GB RAM and go up to 256GB in storage.

I see your point and understand your logic, but if you've got more room inside the Plus model to put better components, why wouldn't you?

Yep, 2gb is fine. 16gb storage is fine. Screen is fine. So's camera. A9 is quick enough.

What's the matter with you people? Apple has to leave something out for you to get excited about later. Haters gonna hate..

Better on the 6S, which has double the RAM of your 6. Honestly it's the only reason to upgrade between the two as 3D Touch is a gimmick.

At least it'll mean they're going to increase the ram onr the next 9.7" iPad Pro. I don't think the iPhone needs it, but then again, iOS is becoming more and more ram intensive.

2GB is plenty. For more demanding games use a real mac.

Macs aren't good for games because the lack of a decent graphic card. They are long overdue for a hardware update as well.

To get back on the 2GB... Why does an iPhone has to be that expensive compared to other Android phones with better specs? Apple has all the benefits of buying big at their OEM partners to get cheaper prices. Funny to see the Huawei P9 already offers dual camera (better than the 6S Plus). I'm curious how the market responds if Apple raises the price for that by another $ 100.

Apple needs the rumored iPhone 8 now to not fall into an overpriced dull company. Where is the innovation? (My ass)
