Honestly I have found the 2 GB RAM in the 6S Plus to be adequate. The 6 Plus with its 1 GB was terrible, with constantly-reloading Safari pages and apps. But the 6S Plus is fine, I really don't think RAM is a pressing issue right now, especially if they aren't increasing the screen resolution any more (they probably aren't for the 7). That said, 3 GB for a little future-proofing would be nice.

2GB is plenty. For more demanding games use a real mac.

Oh come on, they said that response when it was 1GB. I'm not saying 2GB isn't enough, I'm just saying MORE is always welcomed and eventually will be needed.

I don't know why people would prefer Apple to stick with 2GB. Must really be concerned about those margins instead of the consumer experience.

I'd love to be able to leave a YouTube video for 10 seconds to respond to a message and not have to rebuffer the whole bloody thing again when I get back. It's eaten up so much data and battery life, or fails to reload because I've lost cell service.

I welcome 3 GIG and even 4 while we are at it!
For the prices they're selling I would say 4GB is the bare minimum. Since the latest version of Android is on par with the latest version of iOS, it's just not justified paying more! I hope Apple Milk inc. is listening!

What the heck kind of thinking is this? I can't even..

There's just people out there that are okay with Apple reaming them from the behind by offering them last-gen tech for latest-gen price. And to even reference a "real mac" for gaming is laughable.

Macs aren't good for games because the lack of a decent graphic card. They are long overdue for a hardware update as well.

To get back on the 2GB... Why does an iPhone has to be that expensive compared to other Android phones with better specs? Apple has all the benefits of buying big at their OEM partners to get cheaper prices. Funny to see the Huawei P9 already offers dual camera (better than the 6S Plus). I'm curious how the market responds if Apple raises the price for that by another $ 100.

Apple needs the rumored iPhone 8 now to not fall into an overpriced dull company. Where is the innovation? (My ass)
Just get one of the "other Android phones with better specs", if you think they are a better choice. It's a serious suggestion. I'm sticking with Apple and iPhone for the foreseeable future.

Apple charges what the market will accept. It's business. Apple is in a unique and enviable position in their market. They are the only supplier of their products. If you want Apple products there is no viable alternative on the market. There is no downward pressure created by "other" Apple products. The Android ecosystem, on the other hand, has competitive pressures that can drive the market to a lower price point. You have multiple vendors selling essentially the same experience. If you don't want to buy a premium priced handset, you can very easily opt for a mid tier or budget handset and get a very similar experience. Android vendors have tons of competition for Android products. Apple has no competition for Apple products. With no competition there's no impetus to lower pricing. Until the market reacts negatively, expect no downward change in Apple's pricing strategy.

I shouldn't get mad about something that hasn't happened yet, but are you flipping kidding me? Put it in the 4.7" too please!

I would gladly pay the same cost of the PLUS model in order to get the same hardware upgrade in a smaller form factor.

I think I might if the rumors are true about the iPhone 7. For the same price I'm able to get a new phone with better specs twice :)

At least it'll mean they're going to increase the ram onr the next 9.7" iPad Pro. I don't think the iPhone needs it, but then again, iOS is becoming more and more ram intensive.
The 9.7 ipad pro is a enlarged version of the iphone 6s plus just with true-tone .....honestly

The one "feature" I actually want. I hate when apps refresh on my 6 Plus.

Apps will always trigger a refresh.

Apple adds 1GB so that apps don't have to refresh. Developers see that 1GB and take advantage of it with their apps. Now the apps are so big that 1GB isn't large enough to prevent app refreshing.

So Apple adds 2GB so that apps don't have to refresh. Developers see that 2GB and take advantage of it with their apps. Now the apps are so big that 2GB isn't large enough to prevent app refreshing.

So Apple adds 3GB so that apps don't have to refresh. Developers see that 3GB and take advantage of it with their apps. Now the apps are so big that 3GB isn't large enough to prevent app refreshing.

So Apple adds 4GB so that apps don't have to refresh. Developers see that 4GB and take advantage of it with their apps. Now the apps are so big that 4GB isn't large enough to prevent app refreshing.

...

So Apple adds 48TB so that apps don't have to refresh. Developers see that 48TB and take advantage of it with their apps. Now the apps are so big that 48TB isn't large enough to prevent app refreshing.

I read MacRumors just about every day. I hardly ever post. I'm an all-in Apple user (Apple and B&O, that's been the setup in my house & in my pocket for years and years and years – they work well together in many ways).

But really: is this what Apple news, or rumours, is all about these days: emojis and the amount of RAM?

If there was no iOS/OSX ecosystem, and if there was an alternative to replace it all, I'd do it – reading here all about what Apple's competitors do.

There's been nothing exciting about Apple in the last two years – and I AM wearing an Apple Watch, with a new Storm Gray leather band, but WHY?

Is 2016 just something we have to endure, and live (sleep) through, waiting for the 10th anniversary iPhone and all the other amazing stuff Apple will release next year at their new spaceship campus?

Or will 2017 be the culmination of disappointment?

I'm losing my faith in Apple.

Why can't the smaller iPhone get all the features the big one gets? Same with the iPad mini. The only iPad mini that was ever a smart purchase was the second gen one, which is what I'm typing this on right now.

I totally agree with you and since two years there actually is pressure from the competition. If Apple keeps innovating at this turtle speed, they'll be forced to adjust the price. Won't take long now :)

You do know components take up internal space, right?
