i dont know what you consider standard. let me tell you what i am paying with sprint. i have a family plan with 3 phones, one of which has the umlimited data plan. incl. 500 anytime minutes and free nights and weekends etc. total cost per month incl. all taxes and fees: $100.00
and the sprint data network is MUCH faster that what att has....
so much for standard rates
OK: here is my cingular (ATT) pricing for my existing account:
1100 minute Family Talk "Nation" Plan: $69.99: 1100 anytime shared minutes pool (each additional line is $9.99 up to 5 total), rollover minutes, and the usual nights/week ends, unlimited ATT to ATT talk.
My spouses phone is a PDA (Treo 650): unlimited data, including messaging: $39.99.
The 1100 minute plan is not listed online anymore; the 1400 minute plan is $89.99;
So if the iPhone is prices similarly, that's $90 for talking, $40 for data and messaging or $120/mo.
Speculation founded on nothing but wishful thinking: ATT will have the same plan menu for iPhone as for PDAs, smartphone, and things like my RAZR: family talk pools prices the same, and unlimited data/message for about $40 for each phone which needs it in the family pool.
A two year contract will be required (as is now) or a two year extension on your current contract (as is now when switching plans or phones with/subsidy), with $175 early termination fee.
If it works out that way, it's a no brainer for me and my wife. The only question is, will my daughter whine loudly enough to get one, too?
Eddie O. (my rock and roll name)
PS: I just got off the phone with ATT Wireless (checking my international roaming status since we are planning a trip--you can now roam from most cruise ships without ship-to-shore fees at $2.49/minute) and she said they have no information on iPhone rates and told me that anyone who says differently is just guessing. By the way, she was in Orlando, so at least ATT is still using domestic call centers (hooray!).
