HA! Hi. welcome to Apple. You must be new here. If it does come with one its going to be the cheapest cover you've ever run across.

i remember a year or 2 before the massive iPod boom a few years ago, my iPod was $600 (Canadian) and it came with a good case, a dock, charger plug, cables, a pin converter, and even some apple stickers... *sigh*... i miss apple stickers.. (although i got some apple stickers with my new iMac last year)...

i wonder if the iPhone will come with apple stickers...

Well, then...

Personally, I find myself wanting everyone who says a phrase like, "I just got off the phone with an AT&T rep, and they told me the price will be X. It's totally on the up and up!" tarred and feathered. Now... I know, I know its not very nice, and I know nobody deserves to be dipped in hot black tar and dragged through the streets, but I genuinely detest puppeteers who enter threads about something ENTIRELY DIFFERENT, and instantly create a debate about whatever minor controversy they've managed to stir up.

Well, back to the original topic, I do rather like the lucite case.

hahahaha i know how you feel, it really is all about the apple stickers!! but when i get them i dont want to waste them, cauz they might get damaged, or wet, or mightnt stick on properly :(
go :apple:

i dont know what you consider standard. let me tell you what i am paying with sprint. i have a family plan with 3 phones, one of which has the umlimited data plan. incl. 500 anytime minutes and free nights and weekends etc. total cost per month incl. all taxes and fees: $100.00

and the sprint data network is MUCH faster that what att has....

so much for standard rates

Um, as was clear in my post, I was talking about bluetooth headsets. Sorry for the confusion

I have a remarketing idea. The manufacturers of dinner gloves, if anyone still makes them, should introduce a line of gloves that can be worn while operating an iPhone. It would be good if they have rubberized grips so the user wouldn't drop the iPhone, yet comfortable enough to operate in (no surgical pun intended... or did I :) ).

They could come in all sorts of colors and lengths. This would only be successful in smudging becomes a big issue.

What do y'all think?

Fantastic...if this were 1940.

A2dp

Does anyone know or has anyone read anything about A2DP on the iPhone? It'd be nice to be able to use stereo bluetooth headphones with it.

I'm going with this guess:

$75 for 500 minutes anytime voice, 5K nights and weekend voice minutes, unlimited data, with rollover of unused anytime voice minutes;

$100 for 750 minutes anytime voice, plus the above;

$125 for unlimited voice and data.

Additionally, I think there will be either a flat discount or a rebate of $100 on the iPhone from AT&T --but not from Apple, since discounting is not on their minds, or in their hearts-- following the initial introductory period. This is in keeping with the cell phone industry's normal practices. However, at first, I would look to pay full retail.

As to protective cases: The same people who buy them for their iPods will likely get one for the phone. But, given the sleekness and tactile-visual "sexiness" of the unit, I think the majority of users will forego such a product. If Apple's marketing geniuses thought there'd be a strong demand for such a thing, they'd have their own brand packaged and ready for an add-on sale.

One thing I'm curious about: Will there be an extended warranty available from Apple? And, what about insurance? Both are definitely questions to ask.

any prepaid in that  :( i would really like to have that.

Screen Protectors

screw cases. i just want a screen protector. any ideas where i can get one b4 or on friday?

At GameStop or other videogame stores... but the iPhone is supposed to use that whole magnetic touch business so I don't know if having them is such a good idea. I'm not even sure I understand how it works, but it's a concern. The better screen protectors use static electricity to adhere to screens, which is the better way to go in lieu of the ones that have a sticky adhesive and will leave a nightmarish resedue on your screen.

I'd wait to hear what recommends cuz I sure as sh*t don't want to mess up the screen with either one.

Also, what's up with AppleCare for the thing? You better believe that I'm paying the additional $50 - $100 for AppleCare so that if it goes wonky I'm covered. It's gonna be sad to see people without backup phones who have to send their phones in for a'fixin.

$129 is pretty standard. You can get the cheap ones for less, but there is a clear difference between the quality of these products (and I'm not just talking materials, but performance, where it really matters). Trust me, I've got a cheap one and it's barely usable at times.

Considering that the Aliph Jawbone, which is considered one of the absolute best BT headsets on the market right now, retails for $119 (I got mine for $95 including shipping from TigerDirect) I'd say that $129 is ridiculously overpriced.

Yes, it is...

Yeah...you mean the 1000 minutes plan where *they charge you even if you talk to other phones on t-mob* and gladly smack ya down for damn near 50 cents a minute if you go over?!?

This...is a deal to you?

Even their *geniune* 1000 minute plan (myFavs) only gives you *5 people* you can call mobile-to-mobile without burning minutes. They don't even have unlimited mobile to mobile withing *their own network*!!!

Man, that just sucks :)

Yeah, this is a deal to me.

I'm self-emloyed and use the phone for my small business, strictly business, (well 98% of the time), during daylight business hours, unless there is the rare emergency that requires my attention to make calls beyond 6:00 - 7:00 pm EST (quiting time for me). Being in sales, I am on the road working the crowd in my little city so I don't always have access to a landline so I have to use my mobile minutes for even the shortest and/or for the lack of a better term 'dumbest' of calls.

Looking at AT&T(cingular) site, I would have to pay an extra 20.00 and still not have 1000 minutes only 900 and if I go over they hit you for .40/min JUST LIKE T-MOBILE (see their website - http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/detail.aspx?tp=tb1&id=aa538f98-5bb4-43bc-92af-c10ea534d504). Where's the dif?!

Rollover minutes is great for what little minutes that would be left but to maintain my current pay plan of 39.99, I have to halve my current 1000 minutes to 450 with AT&T and that ain't going to cut it. I have but don't really need unlimited nights and I don't do weekends, although they are unlimited as well. Also, most clientelle I deal with varies with who their mobile provider is so free mobile to mobile is great if you happen to reach someone who is on the same network, otherwise, it is not that advantagous to me and the suppliers/vendors I deal with are landline not mobile numbers and calls to consumers varies between landline and mobile anyway.

My Fav, eh, that requires a new plan/contract agreement and I am currently month to month and can cancel without penalty in case something grand comes along whether that be an iPhone or a better rate plan.

So like I said, yeah, that is a deal to me. Unless you know of a nationwide minutes plan greater than 1000 minutes, less than 40.00/month?

Gator Fan YOU NAILED IT!. That is the pricing structure that makes sense. Now all we need is an official announcement and I'll go stake my place in line.

ps: I miss the old Rainbow Apple stickers, the white ones are nice too. But that doesn't stop anyone from making their own Apple swag...

Where's the dif?!

Rollover minutes...

Its right there, chief :)

Personally, I don't know how they do it...I mean if you "underutilize" your minutes for just one month, you pretty much cannot go over. My wife informed me yesterday that i currently have about 4000+ rollover minutes.

And After being a customer on Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile in the past, there is no way I could ever consider a voice plan where I don't get my minutes back. Its just archaic and inconceivable to me (yes, personal opinion) that if i only use 700mins out of a thousand, I don't get 1000+300 the next month.

Now...I will say that free T-mob hotspot access is pretty nice...but i've been giving them $30/month for this for awhile anyway...because they are everywhere i travel.

What gets me tho, is well...what kind of incomes are we talking about here for folks that plan to pay $600 for a phone, but only have $30 to spend to talk on it? :)

And you know, looking at it from ATTs POV...sure they could sell it with no data plan, and you know, charge like $5 meg if you even try it. And you know people will piss and moan when they get that first bill because they HAD to try it "just this one time" blah blah blah.

Anyway, I guess you aren't getting an iPhone, because you aren't getting 1000 mins and 'data forever' from att for 30 bucks :)

More for everyone else, I suppose :)

Oh yeah.

All of those cases are "meh". Personally, unless I have to, I'm not planning on removing my phone from whatever pocket or whatever its in; my ego is well-formed enough where i don't need the universe to gawk at my phone ;)

That sure is a nice sticker. Nice licence plate, too :)

Yes, had to hide the license number for fear that all those PC Fan Boys would hunt me down and kill me.

It's interesting to see the discussions that it starts in cars behind me.

Hey a FULL 1/3 of the country has yet to hear about the iPhone. I'm just doing my part...:D

1/3 of the US? Where did you get that number from? You must be seriously living under a rock if you never hrad of the iPhone. :p

Hmmm... what would you do of the car in front of you had a big Microsoft Sticker and a "Zune - join the social" banner on the bumper? :p

Keep in mind that you can't assume that 100% of Americans are part of that population unless you can say that 100% of Americans have and use mobile phones.

Thanks for the backup on this one. Boy these Apple haters don't have much of a sense of humor when it comes to me saying that my iPhone "bumper sticker" is my effort to educate the 1/3 of America who haven't heard of iPhone yet.

As far as putting ANYTHING from MS on my car, forget it. MS "celebrating" the sale of it's 1 millionth Zune is a joke. Does this mean in 20 years we will be hearing about them selling the 1 millionth coffee table computer.

Seems a little Flintstones to me... :D (Okay PC People! listen up, see the little smilie guy here, that means it is intended to be taken lightly, so Lighten up and wait for the iPhone to come out before you commence bashing)

Dude, I'm with you. I got plenty of Apple stickers but no car to put them on. I have one on each of my external drives. Thought of putting the remaining ones all over my Macbook in a polkadot fashion :)

Jawbone

Supposedly, Apple Stores will be selling the Jawbone starting on the 29th ( http://www.macworld.com/news/2007/06/18/jawbone/index.php ) . So I'm guessing that the :apple: headset will be slightly cheaper, and include the dock (that I thought was going to come 'with' the phone, but maybe it is an upgraded dock - with the charger for the BT headset, or maybe ... I'm tired of guessing... but my thinking was going along the lines of 'but if you want the dock, you might as well get the :apple: headset too' ... sort of blur the actual cost of either item technique...)

4+ days...

IS THAT THE ONLY PLAN?!

Ouch! Too much!!!!

I have 1000 minutes with T-Mobile and the rate is 39.99 (sans taxes) but that makes it 44 and change. I really only need the phone, a good hefty chunk of minutes and vocie mail. Anything else is a luxury that I hope I am not forced to pay, otherwise, AT&T and Apple just lost a 2 year contract and iPhone sale respectfully.

That's $960.00 more each year or over $1,900 more for the life of the contract then I am paying now. I don't need the fancy pants stuff - a phone and iPod combo is all for me personally. Come on AT&T give multiple plans for multiple client needs or lose a potential 'switcher' customer!

I completely agree. I don't know where everyone is getting this idea that a data plan is required for the iPhone. If I have to add anything to my plan Apple lost another sale. There's no way i'm extending my contract and changing my plan for an iPhone. I want one desperately but if that's so then they can shove it. :D

Back to the topic of cases.....

When i got my Nano I made a replica of the case that came with the original 10gb iPods. Check this outtttttt

I'm going to make one for my iPhone the day before I buy it.

Sprint: 39.95/month for 450 minutes, unlimited Sprint-to-Sprint, unlimited nights and weekends..no rollover

Verizon: 39.95/month Unlimited IN Calling to any Verizon Wireless Customer
FREE Night & Weekend Minutes

Yes...*clearly* Cigulatt is MUCH MORE EXPESIVE

Lets see..Verizon offers a 450 talk/"Unlimited" Smartphone/PDA Data plan for...'drumroll' $79.95...which is EXACTLY THE SAME ****ing price as Cinulatt.

But What about Sprint...the proported Best Deal Around?

I'm not even gonna bother...just read this "great deal" for yourselves:Gitcha! Gotcha!

So seriously...really...HONESTLY.

Just. Stop. It. Please.

ATT cost *exactly the same* for their combo Voice and Data minimum high speed data plan, AND its really Unlimited AND your unused inutes don't vanish down the toilet.

Find something else to bitch about...because the pricing is on parity with the industry.
Those data plans are for BB's and Data cards. For phones it is 15-25 bucks. And that gets you EVDO speeds. If you don't have an EVDO phone you can pay 10 bucks (like I do) and get unlimited EDGE-like speed. The only reason why I haven't left Sprint is cause you basically can make your own contract through retentions with them. Most people on sprintusers.com have plans with crazy minutes and free stuff for like 30-40 bucks. I just recently have switched over to a family plan and have been told that I have unlimited text on both phones for 15 bucks (which is 15 bucks cheaper than they would like to charge me).

I looked at AT&T's plans and it would cost me about the same to switch to them, but I hear you can't work out great deals through retentions with them. I do want the iPhone and am fighting the usual urge to just pick it up when it comes out.

On topic: Does anyone think the existing iPod adapters for cars (um, like the one for my Pioneer radio) will work with the iPhone?
