I had an eight week old that was supposed to be my alarm.

This was the first night he slept past 3 am PST. He did not do it the next night either.....Who knew I would regret my child sleeping well so much.

Stainless Steel Link band Apple Watch

I ordered on the Apple Store app the minute it was up (the web page was still down) and I got shipping date of May 13th to May 27th.

I am glad somebody said it. The site was not live at 12:01AM From my iPhone 6 plus experience I knew not to depend on one way in. I had MacBook Pro queued up on the site, iphone 6 plus ramped up on the 800 number and iPad set with the app. I got in first via the app. The 800 number clerk was at the mercy of the site which didn't "open" on time and was slow. Like another, the payment pre-information I input the day before and checked was not there necessitating re-entering costing precious time. With all of that I am still in the 4-6 week group. I am convinced they didn't have the 42 space grey from the onset. Angela must go!

Agreed. Steve is probably rolling in his grave. This is probably the most botched product launch next to the iPhone 3G when they decided to launch iPhone OS 2 on the same day as the phone creating mass hysteria with their activation servers that morning. Anyone remember that debacle?

Angela is in charge of retail, you should direct your anger towards Jeff Williams.

For Angela's part, she's put a new product in the hands of customers before release day with the try on appointments, something Apple has never done. She's doing a good job, and the customer experience in the stores, and online, has been mostly positive.

The fact you can't get hold of one isn't her problem.

I have been in therapy for months to block that memory ;) .

Hmm not so sure

Easiest marketing tactic is to be 'conservative' on shipping estimates and then fulfil orders early. Creates hype and satisfies customers. Clever.
With Angela Ahrendts at the wheel I am not so sure the previous goodwill will happen again. She seems not only elitist but completely lost when it comes to understanding the Apple core customer.

I want stock in whatever you are smoking. This woman has presided over an epic fail. Read her quotes! I have. Do you think she didn't have direct access to Tim? Do you think if she laid out the doomsday scenarios they wouldn't have delayed launch? They had NO retail channel commitments since it was available exclusively at Apple stores. Don't you think customers would have preferred getting whatever stock available on the 24th in Apple stores with online orders later? This was ass backwards.

Lets see when we get our watches before we call it a failure.

Not having them in the stores at launch makes perfect sense given the number of band options. People would be even more pissed if the only band they got after waiting in line for 6 hours was the one color they hated (in my case, the green one).

The Android Wear watches are advanced calculators that loose connection to the phone and then become useless. If you download an app on the watch, which they do not recommend, the watch becomes very unresponsive.

The Apple Watch is well worth the wait and it plays very well with the iPhone 6. A friend has reported that it is very responsive, smooth and they have yet to have any issues with connectivity between the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch.

What are you talking about? I'm as big an Apple fanboy as their is, but I also spent about 3 months using a Moto 360 and its a damn good product.

I've been following this thread for a little bit now and thought I'd chime in. I'm in a unique position having ordered two watches one for my wife and one for myself. Her delivery date is the 4/24-5/8 time frame. Mine is 5/13-5/27. Just worked out that way with the watches we wanted. Guess I'll see what happens soon! Hopefully

I'm not smoking anything.

Angela's role is the buying experience, which isn't the problem here.

Of course Angela speaks to Tim Cook, and I'm sure she has questioned the stock numbers, but it's not her job, thats Jeff William's job.

Should Tim Cook have delayed the launch? Possibly.
Has Tim Cook been told the truth? Perhaps not.
Have Tim Cook and Jeff Williams discussed their concerns? Almost certainly.
Has Jeff Williams failed to meet his targets in terms of number of Watches produced? Maybe?

But regardless, Angela has been asked to execute the retail stratergy for the Apple Watch, the lack of watches to sell is not her shortfall.

So a product selling out means it's a botched launch? Come again?

"Steve is probably rolling in his grave"... then you justify it by comparing the Apple Watch launch to a launch by Jobs.

See what's wrong here?

Not sure it means anything, but I'm unable to edit the address or payment info of my order anymore.

A product that has no available in store inventory. And a product that seemingly had categories sell out in seconds? That says you weren't ready to "launch" April 24th.

Exactly. I think the only reason for a launch on April 24 is that it's in April. And The end of April is the latest they can call "Early 2015".

So now they can say "We made it. It's early 2015"

Had they released one week later (What they are doing with Al the 24-4/8-5 dates) all the fan sites Had to blog about "Watch not in early 2015" and that's something they don't want.

Major sigh

That makes sense. Still sucks for the majority who are actually getting theirs "Summer 2015" lol.

The ends don't justify the means...on that basis rather than the dollar always wins in the end, it is already a failure

So, the optimist in me hopes that pre-ordering the Space Gray 42mm Sport at 3:05 the odds are good I might see a shipping notification this week.

The realist in me in is prepared to wait 2 weeks.

Guess I also belong here..

I ordered a 38mm :apple: Watch Sport in Space Gray on April 10. I got into the store pretty quickly (I tried with 5 different devices :D) and got the Watch I wanted into my cart but I lost time searching for the possibility to reserve a Watch for pickup at my local Apple Store. :(

So I decided to preorder the usual way and got a confirmation mail at 09:13 (German time), shipping: May 12 - May 26.

I'm curious to see if some of us will be getting their Watches early or maybe even for launch on friday. Nobody's shipping status changed yet, am I right?

Simple really - this was the starting inventory position

Had the watch saved in my favorites and use the Apple Store app, it took a whole 10 seconds to complete the order including paying with Apple Pay. Ordered at 3:04 am est. As soon as the store became live. 42mm SS, Blue leather loop. 4-6 weeks (May 13-27)

Exactly as above - one SS 42 with Link Bracelet - May 13-27 ordered at 12:04 am Pacific.

I think the answer is remarkably simple really. This was the starting inventory position and says that the stainless watches were always going to first delivered in quantity on May 13.

42mm Space Gray at 12:04AM PST, same shipping dates as well.

I'm almost convinced they didn't have space grays ready for 4/24.

I have to agree with you here. I ordered at the same exact time. How could they run out in less than five minutes? That seems odd to me.
