It's like opening a restaurant when one of the menu items aren't ready yet. I mean if you're going to launch a product, you should make sure you have every model available the day it goes on sale. If not, make note of it from the beginning that it'll arrive later, instead of placing an order saying "surprise, you need to wait 4-6 weeks despite ordering at 12:01." Then you cancel the order to order another watch and you lose your place on line.

I knew from the beginning my ship date was going to be 5/13-5/27 for my space black SS 42mm which I'm fine waiting for. I didn't want to settle and just get one that shipped earlier just to have it. So I'm fine waiting.

This launch is botched, I don't care what anyone says about it. The fact that they don't have any link bracelets available to ship on launch day is ridiculous.

They never should have done this many countries at once. Now, 90% of the people have to wait more than a month. So stupid.

Angela is screwing things up. I have NEVER seen "dummy models" of Apple products in Apple stores before, and yet there they are.

Um, restaurants do that all the time.

Agreed. They have never done this type of rollout before where anyone anywhere could order the same product. I'm starting to lose patience. I also took off the 24th, so thinking of going to work. Trying to wait to see if anything changes with shipping stuff.

I'm glad in a way it's a couple more weeks. Things will be better at that point.

There are going to be issues at first. A number of thing will be worked out

Like, 'hints and tips', and 'best apps for this and that'.

FWIW, my VISA was just charged for the Applecare on my Space Black Stainless Steel link watch...might be an indication it is shipping. Dunno.

My order confirmation was emailed at 3:02 EST on the 10th for some background.

Big reason why we have to wait so flippin long is because some people ordered two OR MORE watches! Grrrr it should have been one per person! Didn't we learn young Fair Share?!

So if you're opening a restaurant and for whatever reason you're out of fillet mignon, yet there's a line that goes around the block — what do you do? Tell everyone to go home? No, you open and serve the people you can.

It's unfortunate, but what can you do? Well, there's always McDonalds #.

You know, they say it takes 9 hours to cut all of the links that go into that band — maybe that's the problem.

If I know beforehand that my chef can only prepare three fillet mignon, I don't put them on the menu. But I probably promised my guests fillet mignon for 9 month so I don't have a choice, eh?

This is not a restaurant, but it still smells ...

Where'd you get that idea?

42mm link bracelets, first wave of shipping are from April 29 - May 12th
While the watch bundled with the bracelet is May 13 - May 27

TL;DR The link bracelets will ship before the respective watch does...

Look I'm not saying that the Black SS Link Apple Watch is the best Apple Watch... but the Black SS Link Apple Watch is the best Apple Watch! No offense to others. While it is clearly worth waiting a few extra weeks for this masterpiece, it is ludicrous that diehard fans that stayed up to 3am and paid a premium for a 1st gen product can't get the watch on launch day. We are not used to this disappointment. It does not sit well with us.

You must be new here :)

EVERY launch has people who missed whatever line is the bubble. We then have the inevitable thread like this about the time they got up, etc..

I seem to recall this with the 6+, where a lot of them shipped a week later. In a week or two, at the most, we'll be talking about the fun this thread was, and close with the famous line we always use...

"See you next launch" :)

Good point and I am a new poster to this forum, but it's not my first rodeo with Apple launches. I too fell victim to the great 6 Plus crash of '14. The difference here is they had ZERO stock of their premium priced product (excluding Edition) available at launch. I could live with getting beat to the draw by fellow diehards, but at least we had a chance. :)

You do know that other people may also have ordered at 12:01, right? Or even earlier. Maybe hundreds of people, or even more. Or did you think you were the first?

But people are told ahead of time that it's a soft launch.

Until I see someone with a link bracelet scheduled for 4/24 delivery, I'm going to believe that Apple pushed back all of those orders until 5/13

For the record, I agree it's bad — but if the product is genuinely unavailable, I don't know what else Apple can do at this point.

And I don't know that this has anything to do with the delay, but Apple does say it takes nine hours to cut the links for a bracelet.

Just a thought...been following these forums for a few days, and have not see anyone mention the fact that Apple Watches will likely be coming in everyday from the 24th. I see a big conspiracy about "batches", but I think it will be more like everyday deliveries. There is also a few day gap between the "1st" gap and the "2nd" gap, and certainly there will not be no Apple Watches shipped during that time.

I believe everyone that is in the 5/13-5/27 delivery date will see their orders in very late April or the first week in April.

My $0.02.

Honestly I would have preferred that they went straight to unavailable with the models they can't ship on launch day
