It's got to be bands causing these issues for most people (except space gray/space black, maybe).

You may be right about the bands. I noticed this rather graphic account of the black bands peeling:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1872568/

So if the band shown in post #8 is typical of the black band quality, you can see why they might have stopped production of black bands until they figure out the cause.

I'll bet Apple are pissed if sales of their hot new $600 "luxury" item are being snookered by a $2 rubber band.

Super glad Tim (narrowly?) beat you out for that CEO position!
I guess you'd have waited & released it in December, with a stockpile of 20 million.... meanwhile, they pushed it out asap, and will use jit to actually, you know, make exactly what people want, as they want, & not stockpile anything as they'll have near 100% sell through.
I know you THINK you have a better grasp on the logistics surrounding a wildly popular product being released than a trillion dollar company does, but...
News flash, Walter Cronkite- you don't.

If he was the CEO you would be defending him because clearly you are gulping down the apple koolaid. It's been a horrible launch, don't kid yourself. You did get one thing correct though, "pushed out asap", you can tell by the amount of defect, buggy and return threads.

Why concerned when it is still in the window given? Especially ordering almost 7 hours after they started...

He's concerned that his watch will arrive toward the tail end of the range and not at the beginning or even earlier than the range. I would rather have the watch before the end of the range as well. Before the range got here would be icing on the cake as well.

It is quite frustrating to read post after post of people getting new deliveries and still have my watch order "processing" (42mm SG sport black band 3:04 order time). BUT I would like for them to get my watch right before shipping it to me, so if that means I have to wait a little longer then I will. :(

WOW! I just love ****** smart mouth people! I never stated half the crap you just mouthed off about. I simply stated my feelings on the matter. Esp when I've asked if there is issues with bands and I get told no! I know I'm not the only one thinking this launch is crap, so take your high horse somewhere else.

So I am a 42 MM SG order with confirmation at XX:08 still in processing hell. Is anyone else in the same boat as far as confirmation time? Seems to me that Apple is up to the XX:05s as far as fulfilling orders....based on what I have been seeing.

I'm an XX:08. I was disappointed when I ordered that only May shipping was available for my 42 mm SG, but I'm trying to patiently wait. :D

I'm in the same time period xx:08, and still processing with no charges. Waiting patiently after reading all these posts, although tempted to make a second order just to see which comes first.

Still waiting. Looks like the new orders have been bumped up.

Hmmm. My husband has been wearing his since Friday afternoon. He's even showered with it. Let me check his closely.

SS w/ metal bands are constrained too. Doubt its the bands.

Agreed. I've got a rubber band on my Pebble watch that I've used daily without issues. I've showered with it, swam with it, yard work, sweat, blood, etc. and have no issues. It still looks good as new. Not sure why there are issues with these bands.

I think Apple wants people to think its the bands so we can't be mad that they screwed up with inventory demands

I ordered a 38mm SS WSB late Saturday evening for a birthday gift (June birthday) and it's gone from 4-6 weeks to 3-4 weeks in 48 hours.

I chose white intentionally because it is shipping faster than black.

Wait what?! How is that possible! I ordered a 38mm SS White Sport band on 4/10 and I have seen no movement on my end! Still says May 13-27 shipping!!

HOLY COW I WAS JUST CHARGED FOR MY MILANESE 38mm 4/10 at 5:30 PDT

Same here! I ordered an Apple Watch 38mm with Milanese loop on preorder day at around 4:25AM PDT (over 4 hours after preorders began). And I was just charged as well. Still "Processing" however. I'm in SoCal area.

Yeah me too!I'm in SF Bay area. Okay, I'll be honest this was so unexpected. I thought orders were still around the 12:10 mark. Must mean the 38mm was not even close as popular as the 42. YAY US

Why are we still comparing shipping times on dissimilar watches?

It's kinda like saying "I planted tulip bulbs two weeks ago and nothing is happening but the daisies I planted Friday are already sprouting. Why are the daisies getting moved ahead when I'm obviously waiting for tulips?"

well two posts above you, you will see that they are being compared to the same model and config. Read it again. One watch ordered immediately others ordered much later but shipping before the first order.

But Apple is responsible for the entire watch, so even if its the bands it chose the introduction, preorder, and launch dates. No real excuse there.

Love this analogy. Spot on.

I think you need to re-read those posts... they seem to indicate that two people who ordered the same watch, around the same time, and live in the same area (all the variables for delivery) have both been charged for the watch around the same time which indicates they will be receiving it far ahead of the estimated ship date.

Sounds like Apple will be delivering their watches both fairly, and well ahead of schedule. So, you know, boo Apple, am I right?

I ordered the 42mm sport white band on 4/24. Just updated this morning with approx. ship date of May 14-May 20 and said on friday it would be June. I was charged $49 for applecare. However, I ordered my wife the 38mm pink sport and that hasn't changed. I'm guessing it won't either.

Womp, Womp.

I have a question:

Is there a single documented case of Apple doing anything other then beating the shipping estimate provided at purchase?

As far as I can tell, no one has had their watch shipped outside the window provided when they purchased the watch, but plenty have had their watches delivered early. Why isn't that the story?

No need to be a jerk. Where is the comparison? All I said was the new shipping times got bumped up from an order that was placed Saturday. It originally showed a June ship date, now it's showing mid May.

Disclaimer: Nowhere am I complaining about not having my watch yet. The ship time is May. I'm expecting my watch to show up between the dates shown. Based on the shipments others are getting, it'd be great to get it early, and thus I keep checking on it. I'm not bashing Apple in any way. I was a few minutes late to the party and got pushed back, so if it comes in the May window from the preorder, Apple is doing exactly as it promised it would.

I'm noticing the order status page is completely down for me and has been for the last several minutes--I wonder if some stuff is finally going to happen with my order today.
