Those bands!

Yes, that really is dreadful. One can only hope is isn't visible like that in the final product. Who could have possibly thought this was a good idea? It's kind of mind boggling.... (well . . no, it's just down right UGLY!)

It's funny how we keep getting these leaks and the design is a little different every time.

It makes me think they are all fake, including this one.

They aren't fake, they just aren't actual iphone parts. They are Wico i6 parts.
Why they are still being said to be "leaked" iphone parts is beyond me. Come on macrumors, step your game up!

Either these lines are used only in manufacturing and are not part of the design and Apple is pissed that everybody on the interwebs sees these and comes up with negative opinions, OR Jony Ive didn't simply lose the design touch with software, but also with hardware.

I bet $20 on the former, who's in ?

I agree. It's just too "out there" to be otherwise.

Not speaking directly about whether any of these are legitimate, but depending upon the prototype stage, the mounting holes and tooling may be different depending upon what the prototype is intended to demonstrate or the quantity produced.

As for those commenting about the shell, you cannot tell the exact metal exterior shell from the interior of the phone. There are inserts that obstruct the view. Just look at the 5S teardown.

Those antenna breaks are the ugliest **** on earth. Now I'm the biggest Apple fanboy ask any of my friends. And I legitimately like all their products, they look great and work great especially together.

This design on their flagship product (spin it how you want, the iPhone is Apple's biggest pride and joy right now) is just silly. I refuse to believe it is the final product and if it is, it must have some killer features to distract me from that hideous design.

Hopefully not real. Makes the white iPhone look like it's wearing a jock strap.

Renditions of black iPhones aren't as hideous.

This will not be the final design, it can't be.
I'll buy one anyway, my iPhone 5 is getting old and too small for me.

Fugly

I am seeing so much product shots with those white (or various colors) of "antenna" breaks which make the iPhone look fugly. I mean are these for real or some prototype that has been getting a lot of photo leaks?

Personally I am finding nothing appealing about the iPhone 6 at all, designwise. The overall design is from the iPod Touch from 2 years ago, I mean I already own the thinnest iDevice out there, it had the same components of the iPhone 4 without the cellular chips and wires. Taking 2 years to get the iPhone into this form factor is rather lackluster. Also the design was boring then and is boring now, but the addition of these antenna breaks or bands or whatever just takes a boring product and make it look like crap.

Considering that the design is the only really new thing about the iPhone 6, and it looks fugly, I am kind of wondering if the iPhone 6 is working up to be a dud.

Look at the top two images, the differences are pretty major. I doubt these are prototypes, I think it's much more likely some people with the right tools are just producing KIRF phones and mockups that mimic the supposed iPhone 6 design. I'm sure there are plenty of ways to make money doing this.

You guys are all about the bands huh? It's more important how it performs. It will sell like a hot cake and all of you who complain about the bands will buy it too.

Such anxiety and hand wringing over leaked shots. Then when the final product emerges it all goes away. Until then this may help to keep some from committing suicide:

20 Thoughts To Help Relieve Anxiety and Depression (modified to reflect the situation)

1. In order to have good things, there must be band lines.

2. It’ll never be perfect—just like the rest of the ones that need band lines.

3. They put in band lines because they need to be there at that time.

4. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, so band lines may be needed

5. You can’t control everything and everyone, especially those who desire to install band lines.

6. Money, wealth and band lines are not the same.

7. You’re exactly where you are right now because that’s where you need to be, otherwise you might yourself be a band line.

8. You don’t want or need to know the future, perhaps it actually holds no band lines.

9. No one will remember the little flub you made in the office or at home earlier while obsessing over the band lines.

10. Life doesn’t assault you or throw curve balls at you; you get what you give. You must have given band lines at some point in your life.

11. If you don’t like something it’s because you see yourself in it. Yoou must have band lines somewhere inside.

12. Right now, at this instant, you have everything you need to be happy: Air in your lungs, blood in your veins, lips to smile with and a phone with the ability to make and receive calls even if it has band lines.

13. When things break and need mending, it gives us something to do. If it breaks because of the band lines it will give you something to do.

14. Everyone makes mistakes. Even the invincible apple could be making a mistake with the band lines.

15. Success has no standard definition. Apple will succeed whether or not they have band lines.

16. Life is very simple, band lines are very simple. Co-exist in peace.

17. You don’t need something to be happy. You need someone—and that someone is you. You can be happy with or without band lines.

18. Just like you look up to someone, someone out there looks up to you. Act accordingly. Do not get depressed over band lines.

19. There’s a lesson hidden in everything. There is a lesson hidden in the band lines, but that does not mean you have to break them open to find it.

20. Other people have had your problems before and managed to overcome them. You can too. There are other people that have overcome the "band line anxiety".

Go forth grasshopper and cope with band line depression, these tools may aid you in some small way.

This is one of the best posts ever.

And for the record, the band lines don't look too too bad in black!

Ah!

Finally some iPhone 6 rumours - I was wondering when they'd start... it' been so quite here for the last few months, I was thinking it had been forgotten...

:p

I don't see those garish white insulators making it into the production run, someohow; call me fussy, but... ya know?

As with the iPhone 4 leak... people said "Look at those breaks in the steel on the side. That design is un-Apple."

Then Steve explained their existence at the keynote as being a part of the antenna system and blew us away.

I have a feeling the iPhone 6 lines contribute to some functionality that we don't know about yet. Maybe wireless charging...

That, or I better get some insanely better reception!

Bolded for emphasis

3 Possibilities-

They're part of some new feature or function and will be prominently marketed as such by Apple (wireless charging, some new transmission or sensor functionality)

They're protecting the real material or are a placeholder for the real material that will be integrated with the case

Jony Ive threw his hands up in the air and said "F it, they wanted a bigger phone."

I'll go with the 3rd possibility. Anyway, let's wait and see what Apples releases. If this is the real deal, then I suggest people get the black one or get a case if you want the white iPhone 6. There's one thing for sure, people will know you have a iPhone 6, especially if it's white. Of course the reason they'll know is because it won't look as good as previous iPhones, at least from the back. The iPhone looks like it's wearing a jock strap comment is spot on.
