It's definitively on the bigger side but looks pretty good, IMO. For me it would be a bit too big I think but if you like the way it looks on your wrist, go for it. :)

I absolutely can't decide whether I should go for the 40 or 44, so I just ordered both and will do an A-B-test when they arrive in late November...
Unless, you want stainless steel. You can easily get the Alum. version(44 & 40mm) on BestBuy.

I like steel case better on your wrist.
SO, 44 is looking fine on my wrist?

I personally think it looks a bit too big, but it could definitely go either way. Everyone has their own sense of style and that’s cool.
At the store, they did not have the 40mm demo. So, I tried 38mm, 40 case size is pretty much similar to 38, only a hairline bit larger. This is what I was told by the staff.

38mm on my wrist.

I'm getting the SBSS... :)

Honestly, I'd prefer the 38mm on your wrist as it looks more like a watch and less like a "wrist computer". But it really comes down to your personal taste and the look you're aiming for. Both do look good on you and neither looks out-of-place IMO.

I am used to wearing 42mm series 3, And for some reason I found 38mm like a toy on my wrist. So, I am not sure if I can go back from 42mm to 40mm.

I think you've answered your question yourself then. ;) Go and get the 44mm, looks just fine!

Edit: Visited my local McShark retailer and tried them both on. What do you think?

40 looks more natural.
44 looks like a phone strapped onto the wrist. Also with another strap that has lugs (unlike the sports band) the lug-to-lug distance will be wider than you wrist making it look ridiculous imo.

Hello everyone!

I'm about to buy my first Apple Watch (Series 4), and feel really uncertain about the size. While I realize it boils down to personal preference, your opinions would be highly appreciated. Like I'm sure is the case with most of you, I'd prefer the 44mm due to the larger screen, however, the less intrusive size of the 40mm is something I really value as well.

As for the color of the watch, if that makes any difference, I'm going to go with a space gray aluminium with the loop. Unfortunately the store I visited only had silver (44mm) and gold (40mm) on display, but the pictures should give good indication about the size whatsoever.

What do you think?

The 44mm looks pretty good on your wrists, so if you want a bigger screen go for it. I got the 40mm myself but if I had your wrists i’d definitely go for 44.

I went to the store and tried both 40mm and 44mm, and IMO in reality when you try them they appeared to be around 15% smaller than what we see on photos. I was pretty much inclined towards 40mm, after following this thread, but in person 40mm still feels like a toy and only hairline bigger than 38mm.
One should, really goto the store and try it in person. That is the best way to take the decision.

That's what I did. I was sure that I was going to buy the 40mm until I went to the store to try it on. The photo does no justice. From a distance, it looks like a toy even on my 160mm wrists! So I ended up ordering a 44mm! I'm convinced I made the right choice. Photos to follow soon!

I beg you - please stop with the TOY statement every time someone with a 160mm wrist decides to buy the 44mm watch. Its not a toy - its the same watch but a little bit smaller.
If you need to vindicate yourself for buying x or y watch please just use the phrase "I liked it better." Every time I read the toy statement I read lack of self esteem between the lines.

Yep, thought the same. If the smaller one looks like a "toy watch", then one could say that the large one looks like an iPhone strapped to ones wrist...

Also, a lot of classic watches are pretty small in diameter. Nobody would call them a toy, though.

Ok we will stop to call it a toy, when others stop calling the 44mm a wrist computer

Exactly. The 44 is a miniature iPhone strapped to ones wrist.

The 38 is a watch.

I replaced my 38 with a 44, and I have to say it is a legitimate iPhone replacement. I don't have to squint to look at the screen.

Since I got the 44, I've made a deliberate effort to use my phone less. And it just feels so good to not be staring into my iPhone 2-3 hours a day.

I think we'll look back at the series 4 as a seminal moment for the Apple watch.

Hello. I meant no offence when I said that, it just looked smaller to me and I guess I prefer the larger sized watches. I don’t intend to force my opinion on to anyone else. I apologise for that.

But also, if you’re getting so worked up about me saying that it looked like a toy, it’s not my lack of self esteem you should be bothered about. Just saying

Battery capacity is larger in the 44mm? Battery capacity will determine which model I will go for.
