Battery capacity is larger in the 44mm? Battery capacity will determine which model I will go for.

Battery capacity is larger in the 44mm. But since it’s got a bigger display and more pixels to push, the screen usage time will more or less be the same.

On the other hand, the standby time on the 44mm will be much higher (since everything else is the same except for the display- so bigger battery means longer standby time)

based on my experience, larger battery leads generally to more usable time regardless of screen size.
of course screen size matters, but probably CPU and GPU are the lions in this case. my ipad air 2 lasts way more than my iphone 7, iphone 7 lasts more than iphone 5... just to show some examples. and iphones "plus" batteries last much more than regular iphone "regardless" of screen size (more lighting required) or total pixels on the screen.

therefore i expect that 44 mm lasts more than 40 mm by a significative margin considering that the battery is 30% bigger.

I went from the 42mm Series 3 to the 40mm series 4. In my real life usage, the battery seems pretty much the same.

useful feedback. but i think it's better to compare screen sizes of the same series because there is a different CPU and hardware in general from series 3 to 4

Hello everyone. Brand new to the forum and will be purchasing my first ever Apple Watch. But just like many of you I just don’t know which size to get. I went to the Apple store and tried them on and still can’t decide. The one thing I know for sure is that I will be going with the gold SS. Which means I’m going to have to wait for awhile. I don’t want to drive myself crazy during that 3 week wait. I want to be confident in my size choice. Not sure if this is the best picture of both but it’s what I have. Thoughts?

With your wrist you can wear the 44mm without thinking about it.
But with the 44mm it is more obvious that you wear a smart watch.
If you have no problem with showing that you are wearing a smart watch, dont think about it anymore and get the 44mm.

Hey, I don’t know if anyone is interested, but I just ordered S4 SS 44mm online from abt. They have them in stock (not the SB or Gold, though), and I should be receiving it on Monday. Also saved about $65.00 in sales tax, since they don’t charge for it in Texas! There are seceral states where sales tax is not collected. Going to return my Gold aluminum to Apple tomorrow, along with 2 watch bands. So happy, since I wanted SS to begin with, and nobody had any. ABT has been around a long time, and they are a reputable company.

Completely agree with this. The 40mm Apple Watch looks like (at least to me) a stylish accessory, like a real watch. And 44mm looks like a smartwatch (i.e. small iphone).

My wrist size is 17cm and I just could not buy 44mm. I've tried both sizes at the store (and I wanted to have a bigger screen), but 40mm looks just right (like a watch) on my 17cm wrist and 44mm looks like a big screen tied to my wrist.

Oh, BTW this is how my 40mm looks on my wrist:

The 40 looks great on you. I’m also wondering if it looks bigger because of the color contrast with the band? Or the fact that I’ve never worn one of these before! LOL. And they only had the large bands to try on with it. But it’s most likely I’m having a hard time letting go of having the bigger screen. I love that bigger screen. Especially since I will be using it primarily to monitor my sons medical condition.

I have always been sceptical with this angle of watch on our wrist, I guess it doesn't do much of a justice to the size of the watch.
This angle makes watch look around 15-20% larger than they are, when you see them in person.
I almost bought 40, but after checking out in person both 40 & 44, I went with 44. Everything is so cramped in 40mm, now with all that dense infograph 40mm gives the same impression of 38mm even after the bigger screen.
And side by side in terms of overall case size, 38mm and 40mm are almost identical. You really can't make much of a difference.
So, I guess people who found 38mm smaller, will find 40mm smaller too.

This angle might help you guys to judge it better.

My 44mm arrived yesterday and I’m really happy with my decision! I think the size looked good on my wrist. As someone mentioned it before, the photos don’t do any justice to the size. Everyone who looked at it also said it looked just about right on me in person.
My wrist is 160mm, for those who are wondering.

Thanks! Well, you have big hands (as I can see on a photo), so I think it's totally ok to go with 44mm in your case.

38mm and 40mm are almost identical.
Why you say that? 38mm looks too small compared to 40mm. The difference is obvious. 38mm looks really tiny on my wrist and 40mm looks like a regular watch (I've tried all sizes at the store).

That's very true! Here is my 40mm AW on my 17cm wrist from different points of view:

In my opinion the 40mm watch is not suitable for most men. You need a real small wrist (140-170mm) and a small hand too. A small wrist with a big hand on a large guy does not look good (in my opinion).
The 40mm is 1,5mm higher than the 38,5mm watch. This is not much.

Attached a photo of my girlfriends 38mm on my 150mm wrist, it makes the wrist look even smaller, especialy with the big hand.

For me your watch (oleski) is ok, but you could use the 44mm without problems.

Looks so tiny in the last photo. I've always said that it's not just the wrist. It's all about the whole forearm.

It’s so hard to decide! Not a cheap decision either. I could get the 40 no but the 44 is a said until the beginning of December. I haven’t worn a watch in about 15 years. So it’s not about which one feels comfortable because I have to simply get used to wearing a watch again. I think I read on this forum that you should be able to see the bands on your skin on the top and the bottom. I believe I can with the 44. Just don’t know if it looks completely ridiculous

You need to show the whole forearm.

This was from a few days ago. Not in the store now. LOL. I’m sure I’m making a big deal out of something small.
Ne we can understand you.
A picture from more distance of the whole forarm and open hand would be good. But as I said before, I would not longer think about it and get the 44mm.
You are a man? If you are unsure:
- better a tad too large watch as a too small watch
- 44mm bigger screen
- 44mm bigger battery

I am female. I guess I need to just get back to the store and try them on again

I found a side by side pic of 38mm vs 40mm and you can hardly make a difference and reason being the width is increased only by .7mm and height by 1.4mm which is negligible, when the screen is turned-off.
