You want someone to lose their job and livelihood because you couldnt get a really popular product right at the most optimistic of delivery times? You need to get help. Seriously.

You knew your order had a range of dates and still ordered anyway. Apple didnt harm you in any way... But you are calling for people to be fired when you knew the circumstances around this release. You knew it had been rumored for weeks about possible supply chain issues for this brand new line of Apple products.

No, this is just the WORST apple launch and also the most important one since it is the first post Steve jobs product. All this confusion and beating around the bush with customers, while others in second batches getting their watch before people in first batch. Bottom line is, if u order within first few minutes, u should get on launch day. How much time did they have to prepare and they can't even fulfill 5 minutes of orders? Retail employees and chat are getting blasted due to her failure, that's why the email went out. So yes, this launch is on her and sorry, I don't pity someone making millions.

And few prepare for shipping/CC charged in this thread itself

There are several people in this thread with status updates, and several people who ordered before them have no changes:
eg:

way too many to list.

I am a developer myself.
These people ordered more than one watch...and at least one of their watches was or couldve been ordered before yours.

Apple didnt beat around the bush. They gave you an accurate shipping date. You chose to ignore it. There is nothing apple could do about that. That is not Apple's fault you cant read the fine print. If they miss the 5/8 deadline for delivery then get upset and ill take your side.

Apple has product to move. They are not going to keep other people from getting their orders just because it took longer fulfilling yours. Sorry but the world doesnt revolve around you.

When you picked your UPS location, did your estimated delivery date change? Mine just said Monday the 27th after I requested pickup. I think they add a buffer automatically though when you request a pickup at the store since they figure in transfer time? My guess is it will just go straight to that ups location?
That location is where the trucks come out of, so, it stays right there for Friday pickup. :) Was yours the same place or not? If it's a UPS store then yeah they need to move it there.

I'll call my ups store tomorrow to double check, but I'm pretty sure it'll go straight there off the plane, it's the ups store closest to the airport and where all my ups packages come from usually anyways. Plus the pickup is still pending, it just said Monday as an estimate and the my ups tracking hasn't updated yet. About 99% sure it'll still be Friday. I'll just call and politely ask what options are available.

Woke up to a nice email with tracking from Apple with a UPS tracking. Being sent via UPS next day air saver.

Very easy for those who will receive tomorrow to tell other people to calm down. The fact is Apple had to weigh customer satisfaction and shareholder satisfaction, and I think they made a business decision they thought would do the least harm.

  1. Release when more stock was available, but miss their promise of an "early 2015" release date. Or...
  2. Release in "early 2015" but not have enough stock on hand to make early adopters (who are incidentally Apple's biggest fans) happy.

The question is, did they make the right choice? Clearly we are not happy about the way this was rolled out. Many people didn't preorder because they assumed there would be a line they could wait in on 4/24. Those of us who did preorder are seeing people who ordered after us get their watches shipped ahead of ours. To add insult to injury, watches will be available at boutique stores and, for better or worse, they're on the wrists of a handful of celebrities. Both of the latter decisions, while aiming to grow the watch's appeal outside of typical early adopters of new tech, do not sit well with the Apple faithful who lost a night of sleep and shelled out money with an expectation of receiving their order in a manner that at least resembled fairness. Mind you, Apple never promised a 4/24 delivery.

I think Apple did cash in on some of their customers' loyalty, which we're not used to them doing. Historically Apple has knocked launches out of the ballpark. They're celebratory. They're fun. They bring early adopters together. I just hope this isn't a symbol of what's to come in a post-Jobs Apple, where courting the glitterati and fashionistas is more important than the loyalty they get from their long-time fans that made them the company they are today.

I will be buying a 38mm SS BSB tomorrow from a guy on Craigslist who is only asking for a moderate mark-up. I will use it to tide me over until mine arrives, and then give it to the boyfriend. He's used to my tech addiction and enjoys benefiting from it.

You have some nerve posting this when youve paid scalpers to block other early Apple adopters from their watches at launch but I should somehow be sympathetic to your feelings.

You are not happy you did not get the Apple product first. That is what this is all about.

Apple has been transparent throughout this process. You had your own things going on in your head. Its not Apple's fault you set yourself up for disappointment.

If Apple had released the traditional in store way, most of the watches wouldve gone to scalpers and companies looking to make a name for themselves at launch... as most Apple fans have jobs to go to and cant spend a week living in the streets living in squalor in the hopes of scalping an Apple Watch.

We wouldve spent all night outside the Apple Store and walked away empty handed regardless....and maybe for weeks as scalpers will keep coming back over and over and over again.

Now at least people will get their watches within a reasonable time frame of two weeks for the first batch of Apple Watch product and the vast majority of those people will be Apple's early adopters.

Its a fashion item as much as it is a tech item. Of course Apple wants their product in high end fashion stores and on the wrists of celebrities. Thats the nature of the fashion business.

You dont know why some people got their watches fulfilled before yours so lets not assume people are cutting the line because we dont have perfect information to make such a judgement call. Thats just you bring upset you didnt get your watch when you want it vs when Apple told you they could deliver it.

Woke up this morning to a shipping notification email from Apple with UPS Tracking.
Says it will be here tomorrow.

My card was charged on tuesday and status moved to 'Preparing for shipment'. Today I looked in my account and the charge for both my watches had dropped off, like it was never there! Checked the status and it was still 'Preparing for shipment'. Have not received any tracking numbers and the watches do not show up on my support profile. So confused.

Ordered at 12.03 and I'm from Seattle

Same Exact thing happened to me, same day and everything. I'm not pissed that I might not get the watch on Friday... I'm pissed because it feels like I'm being screwed around with. Oh, and I got the "dreaded email" this morning as well!!!

Thats just you bring upset you didnt get your watch when you want it vs when Apple told you they could deliver it.

And this is just you being sanctimonious because you're getting exactly what you want when you want it. At no point did I say I was upset. I'll cop to being disappointed. I just articulated how many of us are feeling.

I am because of the smug tone you took with your post....as if you've been agrieved somehow because you didn't get an Apple Watch on day 1 of the two week time frame Apple quoted to you.

1. You knew that going in there was a possibility of not getting it day one. A launch window pretty much tells you not to expect it day one and to lower your expectations.

You didnt want to listen to reason and set yourself up for disappointment. That is not Apple's fault.

2. You think I havent been one of the people who didnt get what they wanted on launch day?

I didnt get my retina MacBook or my iPhone 5s when I wanted it but I was no less happy to get it when I did finally get it... And I didn't call for people to lose their jobs over supply constraints that even the most opptimistic of expectations couldn't predict.

3. I've stood in line and pulled all nighters and been disappointed before. At least with this launch Apple gave its fans a fair shot at getting product in their hands first with minimal scalpers and zero sleeping in the streets.

It should be noted that because you purchased from a scalper you may have prevented someone else from getting their watch at launch. So save the indignation ...

Wow, this is a major disaster on Angela's part. Way to piss off your most loyal base of customers by having them get leapfrogged by people who were supposed to receive their orders in June

Knowing Tim Cook's history, and the way he handled the maps fiasco and Scott Forstall, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see her gone. This is a terrible roll-out all around. They literally announced the product back in September and had plenty of time to figure out how to get orders to people that placed one within the first minute of launch (it literally took me about 15 seconds to get my order through).

Look up "smug" in the dictionary and then tell me how I was smug. And I've never said that anyone should lose their job over supply constraints. I believe you're misattributing that to me. I just questioned the wisdom of announcing a new product category for Apple nine months ago and promising an early 2015 launch date, when it is now evident that supply far exceeds demand. There is no in-store stock available and there won't be for over a month, and it was announced rather late in the game. It would have made much more sense and better received if it had been mentioned in the keynote. It is obvious to anyone with a positive IQ they rushed what little inventory they had out the door on 4/24 to meet their self-imposed deadline and, as a result, leaving many customers with a bad taste in their mouth.

What I'm failing to understand is why you are going out of your way to scold those on here who may not be receiving their watch on launch day who are venting their frustration with Apple on how this particular launch was handled. Obviously you have no problem with it, as you are happily getting your watch the day it launches.

Shipped!!! 4/24

Shipped 4/24 indeedy!!!:D

Everyone complaining gets that it was a delivery window, not a delivery date. I think that is a big part of the frustration, why when during past product launches a specific date was offered did Apple decide to give a two week window. Why not push the launch date out two weeks and have enough stock for all early adopters to get theirs on launch day.

Perhaps you should just let folks vent and enjoy your watch. You seem way too concerned about making excuses for Apple and trying to make some sort of point to those of us who aren't happy with how things went.

Forstall wasn't let go only because of maps. Maps was the LAST straw.

That, and Ive and Mansfield hated working with Forstall and refused to sit in on meetings Forstall attended.

Remember before Forstall got fired we started hearing all the rumors about Ive possibly moving back to the UK?

Forstall apparently was such a PITA the stories leaked out there was cheering and applause within Apple when he got the boot.

He's directly responsible for letting iOS stagnate and Android to catch up, and pass iOS on features.

Read the quote. I never said you called for someone's job. I only stated that I didnt call for people's jobs. That is simply an example of the histrionics you are putting yourself through because you couldnt get a watch on day one in the Apple Store after a long night sleeping in the street for a luxury watch. You couldnt even read my post correctly because you are so worked up. Between your online purchase through the Apple Store and your purchase from the scalper on craigs list you will get the watch soon enough. :( You have my sympathy. *waves hand* :D

A. One does not put themselves "through" histrionics.

his·tri·on·ic
ˌhistrēˈänik
noun
plural noun: histrionics
  1. 1. exaggerated dramatic behavior designed to attract attention.
"discussions around the issue have been based as much in histrionics as in history"
synonyms: dramatics, theatrics, tantrums; More dramatic performance; theater.

B. I pre-ordered my watch of preference. I will probably get it next week. I'm disappointed, but okay with that. I only queue up for iPhones because I pay full price to keep my Verizon unlimited data plan and you can't do that in the online store.

C. Your posts are starting to say more about you than those you're attempting to belittle for feeling upset. A word of friendly advice: enjoy your watch tomorrow and stop chiding others for being upset with how the launch is going.

Not worst for me. I'm getting it tommorrow . It's all perspective

The watch wasnt handled badly. You all set yourselfs up with unrealistic expectations when Apple and all of the objective data was saying you need to adjust your expectations.

Im sure if Apple could get the orders out faster they wouldve. They set a window for a reason. They didnt want you people setting unrealistic expectations for delivery. Then they'd feel obligated to give you all freebies to make up for it. No Apple was not going to hold inventory as that costs money and would increase the price of the product for the end users.

If Apple felt confident in producing the product and sending UPS and FedEx on all those trips in a single day they wouldve quoted a single day. Apple sold 10 times what they were expected to. There was maybe no way UPS/FedEx could ramp up for that many deliveries that fast even if Apple could theoretically satiate all of the orders.

Perhaps people should just go play with the Apple Watches in the store while they wait for Apple to finish processing their orders.

I know what the word histionics means thats why I used the word.

Im not belittling you because you're upset. Im belittling you because you are blaming Apple for soemthing you concocted in your own head. Im trying to get you to understand its not Apple's fault you didnt listen to all of the warnings and read flags telling you to lower your expectations. You are belittling me for calling you on your own BS and challenging you on your silly assumptions that no one but you made up in your own mind.

Apple didnt over promise. They did quite the opposite. They said flat out we created a two week window because they didnt want customers to be disappointed if Apple couldnt deliver on the launch day.

Fixed that for you.

Fixed that for you.

Look, I want you to get your watches as fast as possible. I just didnt like the tone your initial post took with me and it read like an attack...then you even went as far as to attack my character even as I was trying to reason with you. Its not Apple's fault they couldnt meet the level of demand as there was no indication there would be a million watches sold in a week let alone within minutes. There was every indication of low yeilds and low interest. Take care and good luck.
