I think Gen 1 was for Guinea Pigs, Gen 2 might be useful for some, but Gen 3 might be just right. At least for me anyway.
I can only speak for myself, but when I say two day battery life would be good, it's not because I want an actual two days, but because I want to know that it will last me a full day without having to babysit or worry about it.Umm... https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-watch-2-battery-supposed-photo.1990289/
Whenever I do a workout (every day essentially) I have to top up the battery for a bit to make it through a whole day. Most of the time it's not bad, as I throw it on the charger while I shower. But there are times where I workout at a gym before work can't charge it while showering.
Also, the complaints about more than 1 day battery life I don't really understand. I think the most important is having a routine with the watch, not having to think about when it needs charge, just that you place it on the nightstand when going to sleep (for example). If it improves from 1 day, it would need to be something significant (like a weekly routine - I remember every weekend charging my Pebble when I had it).
If we have a bigger battery, I'd rather we can get more out of it during the day and not try to stretch for a potential two day battery life. Or maybe enough that it can be used for sleep tracking and need just a quick top up in the morning.
What are you expecting (or wanting) in gen 3?I think Gen 1 was for Guinea Pigs, Gen 2 might be useful for some, but Gen 3 might be just right. At least for me anyway.
My sentiments exactly. I am already sold on the AW2 anyway.I've actually been very impressed with my watch's battery. The watch IS something I would like to see thinness improved on over battery, ironically.
Bingo!I think the other thing people need to realize is battery life will diminish as you continue to use the battery. Having more power than needed is important to having a usable watch a few years down the road.
I think it's great having devices that can last a day and a half because that means on a heavy use day I don't have to worry about it and in a few years the battery will still last me long enough.
Was this a problem? I've read ofI bet it still won't work in the shower. Get it wet and that's the end of the watch...

Maybe the battery is thicker to replace the space they will save with a new thinner display. Thus, no change to the outside of the watch.
Cellular! What are you expecting (or wanting) in gen 3?
I always wondered why Apple didn't use a 20-22nm process on the first Watch and went with 28nm instead. Seems like they could have saved some power usage going to a smaller process.
That said, I'll get the next Apple Watch. My wife likes hers and it works well, but it wasn't a must-buy for me. The new Watch OS almost made me buy an existing Watch, but that coupled with new hardware should make the second generation significantly better.
It's cellular iPhone independence or nothin' for me!Gen 1 is already useful for many. Naturally it should improve in capabilities every iteration, but if you think Gen 1 is only for guinea pigs, I doubt it will magically morph into something you want by gen 3.

Folks even swimming with their watches. It certainly shouldn't have issues I the shower.
