Sorry, apparently some people missed the part that said that I wasn't sure how much stock to put behind what I was told...I received a few "death" threats...

Anyway, I only gave you guys the info I received...hence why I put so much emphasis on not looking into it too much.

My best guess...the plan I outlined is probably going to be put into place...what I can assume by "ghost plant" is that Apple and its manufacturers are going to open up a 2nd location nearby to move the packing portion of the assembly line into. This will increase the amount of watches that can come off the line, moved onto temp storage and then wheeled over to the 2nd area where people can be packaging them 24/7. Quality control won't take a hit, because they're not being made separately...just more.

But that's just my best guess.

As for the planes, maybe the person was being "hopefully optimistic" that it was SGS, and it was really just extra-full shipments in general (I point to the number of extra bands that have been shipped today as my best).

Sorry to get people's hopes up.

Thanks!

No, I wasn't blaming you, but I figured you talked to your source again today and asked him or her what happened. Sorry, didn't mean to bring it back up.

My Watch Arrived

Hello all,

UPS delivered my watch at 3:25 CST in the DFW area. I really love it and look forward to learning to use all it's features. I was in the xx:07:04 group so I hope the rest of you get your watches soon. It's more impressive than I expected from the Apple Store demos.

Lucky to have made it just before yesterdays huge slow down. Still waiting on updates after your group got through.

I can't put a ton of stock in what I'm about to say, but I figure any news is good news...so, here it goes:

From what I have been told (and I can't reveal my source, or give any clues...sorry)...expect tonight's shipment to be "extra-full" of 42mm SGS. Should clear out the XX:07 and XX:08 orders for the US.

If this is true, move up my estimation for next week to have XX:25 (maybe even up to XX:30) orders shipped by next Friday, again, IF THIS IS TRUE. Seems as though another "ghost plant" has come online to run ONLY 42mm SGS to clear out the backlog...and these could be coming from overseas via someone that is NOT UPS...but will be delivered to Alaska to be taken elsewhere by UPS...so, untrackable...

Take it at face value. I cannot provide any proof of these statements.

Maybe Apple was using a false flag to find leaks and your souce is getting shown the door now.

I'm new to this thread today. I took a look at the google doc and it looks like between yesterday and today they shipped ~30 seconds of orders per day. Is that accurate? What has the rate been like leading up to today? I keep seeing stuff about a big slow down.

My info again:
xx:08:19 confirmation email.
Saint Paul, MN.
Processing.
No Credit Charge.
No EoD.

This was my first time preordering an :apple:Product and honestly, its been a frustrating nightmare. But not really, its just a first-world problem imo. Yes they jacked up the launch, so much so that I might not preorder again and just wait (I REALLY WANTED THE :apple:WATCH THOUGH, THATS THE ONLY REASON I DID IT). Im xx:07:21, charged last night at 10:40p, shipped today 5/7 at 2:30p, and will receive it tomorrow. IM OUT!!!!
Good luck and happy waiting!

First time preordering also. If much rather wait long hours in line

It was going good. Until last night. Usually we wake up to a room full of charges. But last night there wasn't any charges.

Don't let this be your bad experience. I have always pre-ordered as I don't have time to go wait in line. I always pre-ordered my iPhone's thru Apple except once I went thru Verizon because they were having a promotion. And I always got it on launch date without any problems.

Except they make these things in China where Mother's Day (a holiday originating out of the United States) really isn't that big of a deal.

I would agree with you if you were right.
But you are wrong.
So I won't.

In the People's Daily, the Chinese government's official newspaper, an article explained that "despite originating in the United States, people in China accept the holiday without hesitation because it is in line with the country's traditional ethics – respect for the elderly and filial piety towards parents.

I was in China last year and saw what a big deal it has become.

After last weekend there was a return in pace. Like you said, about 30 seconds of orders getting through each day with a couple stragglers here and there. Yesterday however, there were no changes from processing to preparing for shipment, and still no updates today except for a few European orders.

Got it! Thanks!

Or maybe the entire shipment was sent to Maxfields? :D

I heard Maxfield's had some, so I went on Monday afternoon and was told that they were out of "tickets" for appointments. They only had 50 appointments a day. I went on Tues mid afternoon and they increased it to 100 appointments a day but they didnt have any 42 SG sports. So I ordered one and I am still waiting. So even though people are getting their watches faster by going to Maxfield's, it is only 50 (now 100) people a day. I seriously doubt that is making any impact on how fast (or slow) the Apple.com orders are being shipped. And most people are taking whatever Maxfield's has in stock so they can have something in hand when they walk out the door.

Slowdown, yes. But we've discovered an important dividing line IMO.
I got in to place an order around :05, but due to some issues with the billing info attached to my account didn't get to actually submit until late :07's. In that time, the shipping window changed on me from the first wave to the 5/3-27 timeframe.

We're seeing a slowdown because Apple has finally fulfilled their first wave. They are under no obligation to move on to that 2nd wave until next week and can use this time in between to build up internal stock, that of their premium retailers, and begin the ramp up for their own stores.

Just some observations given the timing of it all. Could be wrong. But if we didn't come up with hypothesis of some kind, we'd be in the dark completely.

Actually we're still completely in the dark because this hypothesis is nothing more than a guess based on almost no supporting info. Maybe the big slowdown in NA is because they had not been fulfilling European orders and finally sent a big shipment that way? Less MR users from Euro on here so we're hearing less about how many are being delivered.

My comments are based on Hawaii time (6 hours behind EDT). When I looked at reports Tuesday night (just after Midnight so technically Wednesday morning), they had reached 7:13. The next night they had only moved to 7:27 and now I see 7:29 (at 4:30 PM Hawaii time).

I didn't make it a point to note if it was credit card charged, or changed to "preparing to ship", or "shipping" or "delivered". I just figured any of those showed the person was very close to getting it at least.

So today has been really slow. Now, if you work from April 24th to May 5th, that's 12 days to go from 1:00 to about 7:13. Just over 6 minutes (of course, not all orders for the SGS were filled that were within that time frame), so 30 secondss a day - sort of. But not now!

Hope we don't have a second real bad night tonight!

About an hour and 20 min before the first of 5 flights arrive in Louisville from Anchorage. Hope to wake up to some charges tomorrow morning! Night folks.

My puppy somehow got to the band portion of my Black 42mm Sport.

Luckily he only got to the band portion where the holes are on the S/M band.

If there's anyone out there with a large wrist that cannot use their S/M section can I please have it? I'll pay to have it shipped.

Just got it last week so I have no idea how this happened.

Ok, I am confused.

I thought it was determined that the billing happens when the planes take off from China, not when they land.

My accounting and revenue recognition rules are rusty, but I thought that they can bill once they take possession (e.g. from the third party supplier) and put them into the shipping process.

Bill - upon possession (e.g. in China)
Shipping info - once transferred to UPS.

Up for debate

So if apple ha stock in the store before you receive your pre order does that mean you can go to the store for pickup or do you still have to wait for delivery?

I'll be camping out on this forum for the next several overnight hours to see if we can get some movement and/or a wave started. I have plenty of chilled Sam Adams to keep me company.

Anyone else with me?
