Why do people blame Angela?
She's in charge of the Apple Store. She's not in charge of the production of the watch. How is it her fault that the demand is much higher than what Apple can supply?

Yes, it's Tim Cook or the guy who is now COO who needs to step up and explain to the public what's going on with the painfully apparent production delays, esp regarding models that are in short supply or not really available at launch.

OTOH, Angela isn't helping herself either. She was left dealing with a dissatisfied customer base because of production delays which are not her fault, and she could have stepped up and made lemonade from lemon by taking charge of the retail situation. Instead she's coming off as indecisive and not forthcoming.

In the end, I have the feeling this will turn out to be a storm in a teapot that will soon blow over, but it wasn't a good day for the Apple executive team. Remember the me.com rollout disaster, and the Apple maps problems? Steve Jobs and Tim Cook looked decisive and strong after those incidents, quickly apologizing to the public, firing those responsible, and taking steps to remedy the situation. In this case, nobody is admitting publicly that there is a problem -- which is the problem.

EDIT: Found out it was only the pre-auth charge, and so I still have to wait :( how long does it usually take to get charged once the pre-auth goes through?

Talked to an Apple Representative today and asked about the latest you can change the shipping address. She said as long as you change it before "SHIPPED" everything will "work out perfectly" (even after charge and when it says "preparing for shipment").

So either the watches don't have a shipping label before they come in the US OR you are not charged/shipped until the watch LEAVES China.

I'm not upset... I'm actually happy to see that people in my general order group are starting to see movement!

I'm wondering though... if I ever get my watch, what will I do with all this extra time I won't be spending here

We were such a happy group. We were a team. Now envy set in and it's gone to hell.

Morale reaching critical level.

When did you get the news?

The first was notification from the American Express app about the charge sometime between 1am-7-am today. Then the email from Apple about the shipment at 3:50pm today.
I'm in Reston. Good luck.

Is it solid to say that charges happen really late/early in the morning? (maybe when planes hit Louisville?) And, later in the day Apple sends out the email? and MAYBE some time between 7am and 12 pm (Pacific) to "find" your tracking through reference?

I'm really trying to figure this out.

You still have to come here and complain about how buggy the Watch is and how easily it scratches, going by the Threads I am seeing

Ahhh Reston... got a MBP at the Apple store there once! I'm way down southwest near TN and NC. Different UPS Hubs, plus I bet there were way more orders in NOVA.

Post some pics when you get yours!
Thanks for the info!

LOL! I'm in the process of patenting an AWC (Apple Watch Condom) made from a translucent high grade latex/ al you minium blend. It will be revolutionary. I hope to get a Kickstarter going soon ;)

I think we're getting charged when the watch leaves the 'dock' in China. My Amex got charged at 1am and the ups label was created at around 4pm same day. I have no idea how long a cargo jet takes to get from there to here.

From your description, we're not too far away, likely same UPS hub. So, fret not, yours ought to be coming soon enough!

It's about 9.5 hours from Shenzhen to Anchorage and another 6 hours or so from Anchorage to Louisville, KY.

With the layover in Anchorage it's about 18-19 hours from start to finish.
