i'm sure straight talk will have micro sims as well. not like its not going to be a standard

It's been discussed, they will not.

If I'm not mistaken its due to contact points being cut on the current micro sims

Okay....makes sense. :) I really hope they don't change - I don't see the need to.

----------

1. Depends (if you're jailbroken, then MMS definitely works)
2. No (at least not that I've seen)

Are you serious :( I can't live without MMS....and I don't really want to jailbreak.

Definitely a con.

From what I understand you don't have to jailbreak for mms.

Andylaiphoto I hope it works out for you as much as ST has worked out for many of us.

Thanks! Hope it all works out as well.

My number is with Virgin Mobile at the moment, any guess as to how long it will take to port my number over? In the past when I switched carriers it was a matter of less than 30min.

Also does Smart Talk ship via ground or do they offer faster shipping during checkout?

If you provide them with everything they need to do the port. Both ports I've done we're within minutes, less then 10 minutes. Now if you're missing something or don't provide the correct password or something, than it can take a while.

If you're purchasing a phone it's usually sent out FedEx 2nd day, same with sims

If LTE wasn't becoming so prevalent I would leave for the more affordable MNVO plans. I miss the convenience of sim cards.

If anyone is interested, I contacted ST asking if they were getting Nano SIM cards. I was told they do not have any information yet if or when they will be offering Nano SIMs for their BYOD program.

When other phones start using the nano sims they'll likely need to offer one. Guess we'll need to wait ... unlocked iphone 5 probably won't be available for a few months anyway.

The factory unlocked iPhone 4S was available right off the bat; it was just labeled a full-price AT&T version.

Plus, you don't need an unlocked iPhone to use it on Straight Talk; you just need the locked AT&T version (at a minimum).

Yes the term was called "device only" if I can remember well. This is how I got mine. You had to tell the genius you wanted to buy an iPhone "off contract" and in the receipt (after paying full price), it would read out "device only". When owners would get home and connect to iTunes, they (including me), would get the "congratulations" message.

But again as the other member said, to use ST you don't need an unlocked iPhone.

Was anybody else able to access the APN settings directly from their iPhone or did you all have to go to the unlockit.co.nz link?

My number is in the porting process.
I checked the network settings on my iPhone and it shows that the SIM is not provisioned. Is this because the number still hasn't fully ported over or did I do something wrong during setup?

So I've been on Straight Talk for the past couple of days. Everything is working perfectly so far.

3G Data speeds are between 2-3Mbps down and 1-2Mbps up. I've had one test that got 3.5 down and about 2.5up.

I'm very pleased with the service and data speeds. Activation was quick and easy.

How about Hotspot? Have you done an iPhone hotspot yet?

there is also NET10 , for some reason I thought straightalk and NET10 were the same, they offer 50 everything unlimited ( they say so ) I'v recently activated a sim card with them few days ago, previously I had H2O worked fine for a few months then started dropping calls like crazy, so far so good with NET10 I do expect them to limit Data use soon just like H2O did, however maybe I configured something wrong but 3G speed is not that fast on their network which is the same as H2O anyways they all run under AT&T just resellers, I can careless about the Speed I use wifi 80% of the time I was more concerned about call quality

I'm lazy

Can someone point me to the post or link that explains how to get a carrier unlocked AT&T iP4S fully-functionable with a straight talk sim.

Sorry, but I just can't be bothered to read through all these posts in reverse.

That is a link to AT&T's unlocking eligibility requirements.

My question is how to fully enable a Straight Talk SIM on a unlocked iP4S. I've seen mention of jailbreaking, swaping SIM's, and editing APN settings to get instant messaging etc.

I was hoping for a one-stop link or post. Thanks though. :)

In order to get MMS need I edit the plist info like this:

1. Make fresh backup of phone in itunes.

2. Open the newest backup of your phone with iBackupBot.

3. Find: com.apple.mms_override.plist

4. Replace the com.apple.mms_override.plist with the one downloaded from this link.http://oron.com/qmlj2jm32wlc .Save and Exit the Plist.

5. Check the box beside Library/Preferences/com.apple.mms_override.plist

6. Find SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist. Search with binoculars apn and replace with ATT.MVNO for all of them.

9. Check the Box to the left of System Configuration/Preferences.Plist

10. Click File, Restore.
