I confess, I have had the same problem happens to me and it fits the descriptions above. I even loose complete data connection while on an active session. In most cases a reboot has solved my issue.

Sometimes I get cannot open web page or no Internet connection. Do anyone else have this problem. Im wondering if my data settings are correct. Thanks

I can't access any sites at times. The page loads halfway and just stops. Please help

I've been having similar issues the past few days (maybe as much as 1-2 weeks, I can't remember exactly). The folks over at Howard Forums are reporting the same problem, not only with Straight Talk, but also with other AT&T MVNOs like H2O Wireless and Red Pocket. It looks like it's a problem with AT&T's MVNO network that is used by all of these discount carrier resellers. We can only hope that they will recognize and address the issue soon. I submitted a customer support ticket to Straight Talk, but they basically ignored/deflected/didn't understand the problem I was trying to communicate to them.

Yeah, I hope they rectify it. Maybe AT&T trying to get people to go back to their network?

I had the same cynical thought. It does seem awfully coincidental that these problems started happening right around the same time that AT&T's new mobile share plans are launching.

We'll see. I don't actually use data that much (I'm on wifi most of the time), but I'll be travelling for the next 31 days or so, relying heavily on my iPhone. It'll be interesting to see how reliable the connection is across the country.

Ok I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having problems. I guess I'll just deal with it for I week to see what happens. If anyone gets a resolve please update.
Thanks

Yeap, very awful experience. I feel like "we get what we pay for" approach is the reasoning here :)

Still happening to me in Michigan, but maybe I'm lucky because I'm still able to get Internet access after switching data on and then off.

Same problem here - Southern California.

For the past 8 months I've been with ST, I praised them up highly. However I recently switched to an iPhone 4S on ST and was experiencing these issues everyone has been describing. I initially thought it was that iphone, but I am glad to see others (as cynical as it sounds) others are reporting the same.

I am curious to know if this is an iPhone+Network issue or Network only. I don't have any other phones to test unfortunately. Its been so frequent for me that I have been considering going back to POST paid (that and the additional three phones I will be adding shortly)

No, nothing I'm about to throw the towel.

Same here.. Thinking about throwing in the towel.

I have a Verizon iPad that I sub to the 2GB prepaid plan. I've got 2 ST phones and possibly a third on the way. I am doing the math, $45 X 3 = $135 + 30 = $165/month with no taxes

I was looking in to pricing for the 4/6GB shared plan with 2 SmarthPhones and the third, which is my 10 yr old, a dumb phone plus adding my ipad.

Straight Talk "breaks" iPhone unlock (according to AT&T)

According to AT&T, they refuse to unlock my iPhone 4S (Early Termination Fee completely paid, account closed) due to "ownership being transferred to Tracfone."

Their logic is the following:

Even though I was a paying customer for years, as soon as you put the magical Straight Talk microsim into your iPhone, it will break it. Therefore, they are not allowed to unlock it. "The ownership shows it is from a reseller."

Anyone else have this problem?

Your iPhone doesn't have to be unlocked to use it with Straight Talk. You just need to order a micro SIM card via their web site, and switch out your AT&T SIM with the ST SIM, and activate via their web site.

I purchased a locked AT&T iPhone 4S on eBay, and I had no issues activating my phone (number was ported from VM). So I don't know AT&T is talking about.

Someone should correct them on MMS and update them on the data problems were having...
What should they be corrected about with regard to MMS? That there is actually a convoluted method for activating MMS support that is beyond the technical abilities of the average CoM reader?

True, they are THEORETICALLY incorrect about the lack of MMS support, but they are PRACTICALLY correct.

I've used the process of activating MMS, and have repeatedly posted links to the process here in this thread... but it really is beyond most people's ability to do.

corrected as in it shouldn't require hacking backup files or jailbreaking to gain mms ability. It should just work:rolleyes:

More that I just wish ST would fix mms so that it works right off the bat. I keep meaning to edit my backup file as I am not jailbroken but just can't find the time to restore lol
ah. Yes, I am in total agreement. But it is possible that it is a restriction on Apple's end. It would be nice if Apple simply made the necessary values accessible via settings. Even a factory unlocked direct from Apple iPhone does not have access to those settings.

Sracer is right. It's an Apple issue. Because the iPhone sees the ST sim card as an "AT&T" sim card, it locks down access to all CDN settings. Pop an unofficial sim card in there and you'll have access to all those settings without having to jailbreak.
