Apple doing everything it can to squeeze every penny from its consumers.

This company is ethically corrupt.
This is most definitely the most absurd comment ever. It's beyond nonsense. Apple has no obligation to let you decide what would need to occur to be called a "Pro". Apple isn't in business to satisfy your imagination regarding a how a company should be run. No one and I repeat NO ONE is forcing you to buy Apple products. If you don't like it, show Apple by not buying their products. Buy elsewhere.

This decision by Apple makes sense technically. 10 minutes of 10bit RAW 4K video would be ~60GB which is roughly 50% of the capacity of the 128GB SSD. SSD performance (read/write speeds) drops as the SSD fills. Considering the bandwidth required to write a 10bit RAW 4K video, we can see how problematic a 128GB SSD can become with just 10 minutes of video recorded (assuming nothing else is installed on the iPhone).

I wish jobs had it his way and there was still just one iPhone, with different capacities. This whole plus, pro and pro max is only a way to squeeze more money off customers, there should be just one model with all the features available at that time, as it was when jobs was alive.
I disagree. Why do you think the next iPhone after Jobs death was larger, and not long after that we got even more choice in size?

Apple knew they were losing marketshare to the larger Android devices. And that was way before people were locked into the services & ecosystem as they are now.

So what? It's a great way to entice people to buy more phone storage next time around.

Apple is just milking the market.

I'm on the side that for the Pro phones it should include all of Apple's definition of what a Pro is on all the Pro phones, no matter the different storage sizes

I think the storage upgrade pricing is ridiculous. An extra $500 for 1TB? That is not the price of storage.
Not even close to the price of storage. In the quantity Apple buys, if they're paying $30 for the chips, I'd be surprised. Remember, unlike an SSD for a computer, the iPhone is just chips. No PCB, separate SSD controller, etc. Just a couple chips. If I sold a new laptop to a client and upcharged them $500 to go to 1TB, I'd be with one less customer.

You people need to stop complaining and do your research and watch the reviews before purchase. You’re grown adults. Apple isn’t responsible for your uninformed buying decisions.
Do you have links to reviews that show the 128GB Pro model is gimped that came out before Friday?

Right but Apple sells products that people enjoy and Are exclusive to their company such as their software and the ecosystem. In your example you’re not selling anything that anyone can get anywhere else

The fact that they are selling the base model with 128gb is ridiculous still. Upsell away. Pro device that you have to upgrade to use all the Pro features.
Honestly with iCloud Photos, Drive, and Apple Music intelligently using space on device, 128 is sufficient for all but those who purposely want to record in ProRes and Raw. Those customers would never buy the low storage model to begin with and Apple can sell the the best photo camera at a lower price point.

You don't understand. You get everything you just explained in the base 128GB model for $1099. The Apple "exclusives" and ecosystem. Upping the storage is just more storage to the same device with the same iOS. SSD storage is not exclusive to Apple, right? So the act of adding more of what is already there in the base price for way more ($500) than market value ($100) is price gouging. Especially for the reasons you listed -- you can only get the experience (but not the storage) from Apple and they know it. They've got you.

Actually this was the same exact situation as last year‘s phones with reviewers telling people they needed to get at least 256 GB for Pro res. This isn’t a new situation. If you missed the video pro res reviews for the iPhone 13 pro max from last year it might help explain while you’re still in the dark

They are milking the market by price per Gb of storage.

In terms of 128gb not getting 4K ProRes? This proves people do not even know what ProRes even is or means.

You will max out your storage for a few minute video, and for what? What post production editing will you do with that 5 min ProRes video that you can’t do in regular 4K?

Let’s see these 128gb iPhone users computer setup to edit the RAW files they demand on their 128gb iPhones. 😂

It’s very poor customer experience to limit features of the 128 gb model without making this very clear. I do my own research so I knew about it. However, I would gladly bet $1,000 that the majority of buyers don’t know about this limitation.
