Another fanboy defending the corporation. Really unless you have a meaningful financial investment in the company, I don’t know why any reasonable consumer would defend them like this.

Fanboy? Defending Apple?

When you throw insults around rather than address my recommendation that if someone isn't happy with Apple, simply find another vender and happiness, it's clear you have nothing meaningful to contribute.

There is nothing morally corrupt about offering 128GB. Not everyone plans on shooting 4K.
I've only found that I can't try 4k videos, is this restricted to specific software or is it going to be possible to at least try 4k vid's with 128gb.
I'm going to try changing to 256gb, hold very little hope of making Friday's delivery....

thanks

But then, as others have pointed out, how is that a "Pro" device? If you're a pro, you'll most likely be shooting in 4k. Rather than disabling the feature, let the user decide how they want to fill up their own device.
I am betting after all the pitchforks have been put down and the torches extinguished it turns out ProRes requires more bandwidth to storage than the 128GB iPhone has available, and the 256GB iPhone has twice the storage bandwidth because it interleaves just like PC RAM.

The only people that care about the pro-res feature are professionals. And for them even the 256 GB option is too small. That and the fact that it takes ages to get the files from the device on to your computer because the lightning connection still uses USB 2.0.

What disappoints me that after a year no one really knows the real reason. Maybe the 128 GB storage option is too slow. Who knows.

I think the issue here, is that the 128GB SSD isn’t fast enough to handle the data.

Same as with the old M1 Macbook Air vs the new M2 MacBook Air fiasco and slow 256GB SSD.

Excellent point. That could very well be the case.

I went with 512GB because as a photographer I make a ton of photos (iPhones have been my main camera for the last 5-7 years; though I still have dSLRs and mirrorless). And with a 48 Mpixel sensor and almost always shooting in RAW, 512GB seemed like a good choice. Really looking forward to picking up my 14 ProMax next Friday.

Wouldn’t most people go with 512GB or 1TB anyway?

128GB isn’t a lot these days. My 6S won’t sync all the content I’d like to put on it as there isn’t enough space on a 128GB phone.

Depends if they're really into shooting a lot of video, or make a lot of photographs. If not, that seems like overkill. No need to pay for something that would never be used.

Apple doing everything it can to squeeze every penny from its consumers.

This company is ethically corrupt.
I would reserve such strong language for companies like Facebook (privacy), Exxon Mobile (climate) and Marlboro (health) which all have massive negative consequences.

The main side effect of what Apple is doing is an empty wallet. You’re more or less complaining about capitalism here.

it's listed in the tech specs page
Not good enough. It's not listed when I go to purchase via a carrier,..nor via the Apple Store! Are staff trained to advise when purchasing? It might be good enough elsewhere, but assumption is always based on the normal buyers ability,..NOT hunting out the tech spec page to locate. Clearly Apple should be advertising this loud and clear.

Good luck with that lawsuit, lol! For people to just blindly purchase a product like this without even reading the specs and then want to blame Apple for that is mind-boggling to me.
Logic is not mind blowing. Not everyone goes to the specs and yes, in Australia, you WOULD be entitled to a full refund if it came up. It does NOT specify this when I chose the Mem option. As I said,..always lowest common denominator and you shouldnt have to look at the spec sheet, it should be clear and visible on EVERY advertisement and at purchase.

Most anyone who is seriously into making videos, especially 4K videos, and is purchasing an iPhone to make videos in ProRes will certainly go to the Tech Specs page for the 12 ProMax to learn about features and limitations.

Similarly, any photographer (such as myself) will go to the Tech Specs page to discover lens apertures, focal lengths, special portrait/night modes, and other features or limitations with the cameras and soak in the information. Before making a purchase.

That's part of taking responsibility as an adult. It really isn't that difficult.
