what i miss most is the stuff i totally forgot i even had.

not having the no accessory splash screen (or whatever its called) is killing me! i have to unplug my iphone every time i want to change what i'm listening to in my car cause my car controls are horrible to navigate through.

got all excited i had an audible credit and went to download the steve jobs audiobook at work today. whoops, file is larger than 20mb. that has to be one of the dumbest things implemented by apple.

i miss pictures being being next to my contacts in my phonebook and messaging app. guess that was bitesms and something else lol.

not going to lie, i feel for the 4S people... After installing dreamboard on my ios 4.3.1 iphone4, a day later it damn near bricked my phone and i had to restore in itunes for it to even recognize anything again.

I lost my jailbreak; since then and It's like coming off of heroin....

I need my jailbreak back :D I'm likely going to resort to a tethered JB today.

I'm holding up just fine as i buy my apps and content and i dont need any hideous themes or buggy tweaks ruining my device. Everything is as intended.

i miss my jailbreak and i buy my apps and content. i don't use themes and my tweaks weren't buggy. you must have either chosen poorly or haven't even tried it. and last time i checked you don't have to be jailbroken to pirate music/movies etc so stop pointing your finger and get a clue.

You sound like you don't have a clue what jail breaking actually is. Jailbreaking does NOT equal pirating! all jail breaking does is give you access to the file system on a phone YOU bought and paid for! That allows third party apps (pad and free) from Cydia to be installed. I bought most of my JB apps... and they worked perfectly! Theming is only an option.

Why I require jail breaking my device? I'd like to be able to block calls from telemarketers (and political parties who are exempt from the national do not call list) - I use iBlacklist for that since Apple will not allow any apps in the app store that do this! I'd also like to be able to use my 6 Gb data plan fully... which I can't do when the iPhone restricts me to 20 Mb downloads, and forces me on to crappy 'mobile' versions of Youtube Videos etc instead of letting me view the HD versions. I use an app called 3G in restrictor to do that... neither of those are illegal and they are paid apps I paid for! I also use Lock Info to display calendar and weather on my lock screen. I really miss that....

Anyway stop being so condescending on those who JB legally and use legal not pirated JB apps!

i keep swiping my finger across the top to access sbsettings like i am on my old phone

This. It + 5-icon dock + iBlank + BossPaper are the things I've found myself missing the most. Oh, and Bite SMS, but the improved notification system has made its absence a little more tolerable.

lol you're really going to piss off some people with that one. I don't know a single person that pirates any apps. Im jb for the purpose of tweaking the os. There are some fantastic tweaks when you start looking. First, though, you need to get a clue of what jb is.

Doing better than I thought....There are a few apps from cydia that I miss, but can live without. The thing that REALLY gets me missing my jailbroken ip4 is 3G unrestrictor. That 20 mb limit really makes streaming video useless on the the iPhone/ipad. Im hoping that as ATT upgrades their infrastructure that will be lifted.

Missing a lot of things without the jailbreak. But this is by far the best OS w/o a jailbreak there is.

Hopefully the jailbreak will come. There are still a couple of things which iOS5 will never solve, nor any other future OS.

I'm missing a few things as well but your right, this is the best OS so far. I can get by just fine until a Jailbreak is released. I'd still take my new super fast 4s over my tired jailbroken 3GS.

I am not a 4S owner, but a 4 owner who has turned down what is essentially a free (for me) Iphone 4S because I think I'd prefer a jailbroken 4 over a stock 4S.

My girlfriend wants to get me a 4S as an early Christmas present, pay for it and use her upgrade, and we were in the Apple Store yesterday, they had Iphones and she was encouraging me to get one.

I put my Iphone next to the 4S and did some speed tests, the 4S was definitely faster, but the 4 speed does not dissapoint me. I don't take a ton of pictures to really make the camera improvement a must-have, and I must have a boring life, because I don't really make calendar appointments and reminders much which would make Siri useful. I could see really utilizing Siri on the commute, which is a big enticement, especially to send texts. But I've been using Vlingo for that and it works pretty good.

Right now I am loving a 4 on jailbroken ios 5, SBSettings, bitesms for quick reply, iblacklist, call bar, facetime from anywhere, theming springboard and notification center, fakeclockup for faster animations, SMS GV extension for sending and receiving Google Voice texts via native messages app (probably #1 for me, as combo of this and imessage = cancelled $20/mo sms plan)

I do think I'll have a 4S in the next couple of months especially if/when a jailbreak comes out, but I think if I had to pay for it myself or use my own upgrade, that I'd pass on this round of Iphone.

Wow, took the words right out of my mouth!! This is exactly how I feel, I just tried to send a group text.. nope, the splash screen makes the phone useless in my gf's car, I hate not having music control pro!!! Trying to use that tiny button to switch songs vs a full screen swipe while using tom tom is dangerous!

I messed with my ip4 to much and told myself I would only instal mywi when the ios5 unteatherd comes out but I'm looking forward to some of the little things now!

That being said.. still love the 4s:D

I miss (in no special order)
iFile
BiteSMS
Terminal
Lockinfo
SMSGVextension
......and 100 others

I miss some of the tweaks like biteSMS, SBSettings, and LockInfo... but honestly, I'm surviving. The 4S is a great device, and iOS5 is working just fine for me. The tweaks are really more luxuries as far as I'm concerned.

i honestly can't believe apple didn't implement a quick-reply feature with the new notification bar...

I know. Even the "update" they made to replying to texts sucks. The whole point was to be able to reply to a text without leaving the screen you were on.

We all love Steve Jobs, but sadly that is the society he envisioned: a society with well-behaving, highly-controlled, submissive customers. :apple:

Don't have 4s but still not holding up good

Just hope an untethered JB is released in the coming weeks preferably before Thanksgiving.

I plan to reformat everything so it would be nice if a JB came in time for the holidays.

I know. Even the "update" they made to replying to texts sucks. The whole point was to be able to reply to a text without leaving the screen you were on.

Actually, the point was to do away with the intrusive pop-ups that went with every single push notification, and relegating the message to the notification tray.

Nothing was ever said about a quick-reply option, sorely needed as it may be.

I need SBSettings, adn the ability to change different themes, but otherwise I will wait for a non tethered JB, do not like tethered ones just in case...

I would love to not jailbreak my phone. If Apple would just come out with something similar to SBSettings I would skip a jailbreak.

There are many other jailbreak apps that I liked using, but they were just luxury, SBSettings is a necessity. I hate that every time I want to change the screen brightness I have to close out of app and open up settings. Or to toggle WiFi.
