There's seems to be an across the board price cut on all the major retailer's websites. Does this mean there's a new iPod Touch on the horizon?

Thats true. the 32gb is 270 and 64 360. that is a big discount. i hope that a new ipod will come out soon. i have been waiting on buying one.

iPod Touch 4G rumour central

Lot of good ideas and wishes for the new 4th generation iPod Touch here.

Besides finding out if Apple will actually deliver any of this to the new iPod Touch, i'm interested in understanding what Apple's product strategy for handheld touch devices will be now that the iPad is launched as well.

There is a lot of cross-over between both the touch, the iPhone, and the iPad, so Apple will need to do a balancing act to ensure that they keep their shareholders happy by driving efficiencies and increased sales from all products.

Could the Touch end up being the odd one out, not getting any significant upgrades (camera etc) and instead a lower price point? Any thoughts?

4 Killer features for the iPod Touch 4G

After further consideration, the features I would like to see on the 4th Generation iPod touch are:

1. A 3G wireless radio with the same data plans AT&T offers for the iPad.
2. A mobile digital TV receiver (this service will be available soon).
3. A 5 mega-pixel still/video camera.
4. A 5" to 6" display with the same resolution as the current display

I have decided to wait for the new ipod touch (if there is one?) i am sick of HD ipods, ive been through to many and would love to order a 64gb ipod touch today, I do hope a 128gb one comes out, as it will be perfect for my needs.

In the mean time as i try fix my ipod classic I shall have to buy a larger sony memory card for my phone to tied me over!

Titanium Case
250 Gigs
12 Mp Camera

That would be something the OLD Apple would deliver. You're lucky you still get even the crappy headphones now.

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but happy waiting for that wishlist.

ditto on the 3G plans

I would LOVE to see the iPad's 3G plans brought to the iPod touch. For those who say, "Get an iPhone," I really don't need (or want to pay for) voice service anymore. I rarely make calls, and when I do, I'm happy to use my Skype account.

That being said, I would be ASTONISHED if they offer this in the near future. An iPod touch with contract-free, cheap, unlimited data plans would cannibalize their iPhone sales.

Wouldn't it?

I currently have the 120 GB Classic and have been wanting the iPod Touch for a while now, but the capacity just wasn't enough as far as I was concerned. This generation seems like it could finally resolve that.

The 2 things I most want from a new iPod Touch are

1.) At least 120 GB of storage, more if possible.
2.) More sorting selections. This one is huge for me. I sort my iTunes by Album Artist. That way I can name something like a soundtrack as Various Artists (Album Name), for example Various Artists (Magnolia Soundtrack). This way, if an album has multiple artists, I can keep the album together and still sort via artist. So if Apple can allow for sort by Album Artist that would be amazing.

A super oled like on the new samsung bada phone so it doesnt look like crap in the sunlight an updated music player. the zune hd's player is so much better so i bet apple 1 ups them pretty soon. even the ipad's player looks awesome, they cant keep using the same player foreve. a camera isnt even really a big deal to me cause it just an extra feature i would never use and i dont want to pay for. i can just use my phones if i really want one.

True.

But at a much more expensive cost. :)

Some of us, you know the ones that paid up the wazoo for the original Macs which were AWESOME, would pay for a truly awesome piece of hardware if given the choice. Our only selection now is great ideas executed half-assedly with a huge dose of stinginess. On the earlier iPods you used to get a dock and all the cables you would ever need. Apple decided it was more important to save that 80 cents of cost than to deliver an overwhelmingly perfect and complete product.

when will we see a 1TB ipod....?

with a nuclear fission hardrive.

and a laser pointer.

a laser pointer would be legit.

this is the 5th gen ipod your talking about, im steves son steve jr so i would know. the laser pointer is pushing it though!!

I was just thinking now...

but could it could be possible that if the Spring rumors are true then could an ipod touch 4th generation come out with a camera in a camera/video and radio and then during the regular September season a camera/video comes out in a better version with HD radio?

Some people can think I'm dumb or "nooby" for thinking that, but it was just a thought.

As for updates I want...
camera/video
radio
an aluminum back like the one's on the nano with colors maybe or a back that doesn't scratch in a day

The ipod touch 4g, in my opinion should have--

A built in mic (so you don't need earphones with a mic)
More gigs
I wouldn't say a brighter screen
The chrome back, i think is pretty cool
a much faster processor
cheaper price for more gigs
bigger screen
brightness controls on the outside of the ipod, no need to go to settings to change it

Software updates i want for it--
View the app store in landscape mode
View your apps in landscape mode

+1 on the HD radio.

I bought a Sansa Fuze as a cheaper stopgap until the next iPod Touch update, hopefully with the HD radio.

Borrowing from Mr. Steve, that idea turned out to be a 'bag of hurt.' Video podcasts... um, no. Audio podcasts... um... sorta.

So, biding my time and squirreling away my toy funds until the offered features list meets the wish list..
