Other different resolutions? And iOS fragmentation?

Absurd if this happens. Appstore developers would be mad.

Haha can u even imagine the world.

5 inch
16gb. Wifi only
16gb. 3G
32gb. Wifi only
32gb. 3G
64gb. Wifi only
64gb. 3G

7 inch
16gb. Wifi only

10 inch
16gb. Wifi only

15 inch

Haha. Oh the possibilities :p

I would assume that if they expand the sizes in the line, that they would eliminate the wifi only option for most models, and eliminate the 3G option for other sizes

I knew it--have posted this before. It's going to be when the new OS for the iPad comes out, which was previously said to be September. I say late September, perhaps November, definitely in time for the official start of the holiday shopping season (Friday after Thanksgiving).

An iPad the approximate form factor of the Kindle would be compelling--still nice and big, probably lighter to hold while reading for extended periods.

Really? A pound and a half. If it's heavy do literally 2 push-ups a day for a week. I'm sure you'll be able to handle it.

Not like my textbooks for school are 8 pounds each. I just couldn't imagine holding a device that weighed a pound and a half. How do you guys do it?

it is heavy, for longer time you need to rest it somewhere. may be 7" iPad makes sense for consuming books and media and browsing.

also 9.7" screen is a expensive; if they can pull of $299 7" iPad who knows it might sell very well ?

if something related to iPad announced on Annual iPod event (Sep 7th) i would assume iOS 4.0 for iPad also coming ...

Why is it so hard to believe that they would make more than 1 model. How many iPod or Mac models are there?

There are two physical aspects that could make a smaller iPad viable against a regular iPad.

1) widescreen

2) small enough to hold in hand, to grip at the side. i.e. no thumb friendly bezel.

But that's not enough to make this seem like a realistic product. I think there is some misinformation going on here, or they're mistaking new iPads for new Dell Streaks.

to targe e-book reader, are those iPads capable of letting people read the screen for hours without suffering eye-bleeding?

or is apple still stand by its statement that people just don't read for a long period of time?

This is a foolish statement.....a lot of people have jobs that entail looking at computer screens 8 hours a day. I haven't heard any news article and I haven't seen any one at my office with bleeding eyes. I can read on my iPad and/or iPhone 4 for hours with no "eye strain"

the current iPad heavy because of Alu back; they might replace with plastic.

but Alu gives the iPad balance and you can leave it with support and it stands with out falling ...

the only reason Gizmodo was able to obtain the phone in the first place was due to the fact that Apple employee had to put the phone down. After all, holding it causes dropping calls, what option did the poor guy have?

now... if iPad shuts off when holding, we might very well have some very juicy leak infos

you must be new to sarcasm ?

I would buy a 5.6" model with 3G in a heartbeat. I see it less as a small iPad, but more of a large iPod Touch. It would be an iPod Touch replacement for me, since it will offer a somewhat nicer Internet browsing experience (what I primarily use my iPod for) while still fitting in my pocket.

Hahaaa, I've been saying it for years that they were gonna do this and there is definitely more to come. All sorts of pocketable devices that handle a myriad of things are on the way, I believe. :D

BS story

Apple isn't dumb. They aren't going to fragment IOS for iPad into 3 different devices before it has even taken off.

That'll be right. Don't worry about the pro-line Macs, Apple. They will update themselves!

So sick of this consumer electronics crap! I want to see an updated Mac Pro, damn it!

This has to be a joke.

Agreed.

"I want to put it in my pocket" is moronic. Who demands that a laptop fits in their pocket? What the iPad needs is greater resolution and capability at this time, and the resolution isn't that bad at this time. Making it smaller would make it more obsolete.

the current iPad heavy because of Alu back
1.5 lb. heavy
You read no book on toilet?
Earth doom.
Lif waits, reed mor.

Makes no sense, Apple won't fragment the iPad market that quickly, especially since the current model is selling so well. Also, no need for such small devices, since you basically are down in the ipod touch/iphone arena then, especially on a 5.6 inch screen.

Targeting ebook readers doesn't seem in Apple's plans, as they are going for a more high end and multiple use platform. I think they are willing to leave that low cost/small screen ebook market to the nook/sony/kindle.

Look at it this way--they've already done the R&D, the OS is going to be the same, and they can capture additional markets--the obvious one being people that want something the size of the Kindle screen for reading, but in color (and the better display from the iPhone 4 would be great). It's not fragmentation, it's expansion.

I say it happens.

These rumors are just getting more and more pathetic!

When are people going to discover that it's just a lame attempt to get some press for these hardware vendors.

I think we should start a contest. Let's create a total fictional rumor/story and see if we can get the mainstream press to pick it up!

White iPhones 4 are for Verizon!

The reason for the delay in the release of the white iPhone 4 is because they are being released exclusively on the Verizon network. And have been dubbed the "Snow in Hell" phone, because everyone thought the day that the iPhone would be released on the Verizon would be the day it snowed in hell.

So brace yourself, the iPhone 4 is coming to Verizon and it's white.

and with that apple says "all your kindle belongs to us" but i do predict that they will all feature a front facing camera at least. it would make no sense for them not to. They've put so much emphasis in FaceTime and there's such a small market for it at the moment. and since all new devices will be running iOS4, it's the most logical decision. I'm looking forward to getting my 32GB iPad 2
