Other 5 a.m./7 a.m./8 a.m. sucks

I was perfectly happy getting up for a few minutes in the middle of the night. But 5:00 is 7:00 my time, and one of the busiest times of my day. Probably worse for people on Eastern Time whose jobs start at 8:00.

As it happens, I took the day off for an entirely unrelated reason, so ordered quite happily. But I'd rather go back to midnight/2:00/3:00!

All the west coast people are going to complain after having the best time for a decade.

Pardon me if I don’t get to upset that you had to get up at 5 AM for a preorder while those of us in CT did a decade at 2 AM when demand was so high that if you didn’t order by 2:10 you might wait a month after release date for your phone.

I'm up at 6:40 so I was just walking out of the bathroom after my shower to head down for breakfast at 7. Opened the app and had my order completed by the time I finished walking down the stairs.

Couldn't be happier with the new times.

it's great because it sucks.
it sucks means less people are staying up for the 'grand opening'.
which means less competition to get day-1 shipment.

I wasn't thrilled with the change but surprisingly it worked out perfectly... THIS YEAR. I think demand is low so it was quite easy to get on and get my phone ordered. Additionally for us... hubby opted out of upgrading his XS to the 11.... Next year he'll probably decide to upgrade which means back to ordering 2 phones and if there are significant changes... then more demand.... etc etc etc.

I get up every morning at 4 a.m. anyways.... but 5 a.m. is my workout start time... that got pushed back and my workout shortened this morning. But I've got a green phone on the way!
8:01am order of 256gb silver 11 pro 2-3weeks delivery time!!!! this sucks big time...
WOW! That really sux!!!!! I got a green 256 pro with 9/20....

What the heck happened with silver this year?

I preferred the middle of the night myself primarily because there was less competition and a higher probability of securing the model(s) you wanted for launch day. I think this new start time changed all of that because many models began slipping ship dates only minutes into ordering versus hours in past years.

West coasters have literally had it good every single year until this year, with a midnight pacific preorder date.

3 am for east coasters year over year has been a tall order too,

FWIW- I don't get why they don't just do like 10pm eastern / 7 pm pacific on a Thursday or that Friday, something less disruptive to one's life, when everyone is off work and settled

Actually, I know why-- because people will do it regardless :D its part of the Apple jumping through hoops game that they enjoy seeing unfold

After having slept through my 2am alarm a couple times for preorders in the past, I was pleased with it. Took maybe 2 minutes out of my morning routine and I was done.

Yea I never minded 3AM. I just went to sleep normal with a 255 alarm, got up, ordered quick, went back to sleep. I was ok this time because I don't start until 930, but I definitely see how it could conflict with a lot of Eastern schedules.
