I'm on the East Coast. Normally 8am would have been awesome, but now I have a baby that just happens to take a bottle at that time. However, I was still able to feed the baby in one hand and order two iPhones via the app with the other. I mean, I guess I could have waited until the baby was done with the bottle, but then I might not have gotten a phone on launch day. ;)

Now THAT is multi tasking! :D And serious dedication to preordering!

I definitely preferred the 12am preorders since I’m on the left coast. But for central/east coast it wasn’t the best time. I think any time they do it, it’s going to be bad for some people.

This.

Cause it seems a whole bunch of people didn't understand my initial post. I'm on Central time. And at 7:00, I'm on my way to direct middle schoolers off their buses and into the building for breakfast. Some of them have already been on a hot bus for over an hour, and can't wait on the two minutes it took me to order.

Getting up at 2 a.m. I only inconvenienced myself. It's always been worth it.
Exactly! I'm fortunate to not start until 0930 right now, but not everyone's job is so convenient to be able to step away at exactly 0800 to place an order, or even better, not blocking the Apple store on the firewall so you can just order at your desk fast.

So true. I got really lucky I switched departments because in my old dept at work, that would not be an option. Glad I'm able to step away for a minute or two whenever I need to now.

Yea I've always been in processing and now order support, but only through tickets or emails, so we are never bound to exact times like chat and phones.

I was driving to university at 7am.

On the interstate with all the crazies in a rush to get some here flying by at 80+mph.

Usually, I don’t have a problem ordering at 3am because I’m a bit of an insomniac.

It is what it is.

I really don’t understand pre-ordering, especially for those who live in major cities.

+ iPhone X - got the Saturday after launch day, in store, without pre-ordering.
+ iPhone XS Max - got the second Saturday after launch day, in store, without pre-ordering.
+ iPhone 11 Pro Max - ordered yesterday morning, on apple.com, picking up in Apple Store on launch day.

It seems that so many people pre-order that it’s actually easier to get it quicker without pre-ordering. On the XS Max, I probably could have gotten it a few days earlier, but didn’t check during the weekdays after launch.

I was at work and almost forgot mines... almost lost out on 20th too. Well delivery already slipped and I was lucky I was able to spot a 9/20 pickup at my local store... I want 3am ordering back!!!

I ordered on the 14th around mid day. Still picking up in store on the 20th.

Not sure if people are rushing for new iPhones the same way they used to. At least around here in Vancouver, Canada. I noticed the new green colour was backordered earlier than the others.

I love it, it’s closer to when the average worker or student is awake for morning work.

midnight/3am ****ed over the East Coast

Good point. It's only us in BFE that need it. It's just not easy getting to an Apple store when the closest one is two hours and two states away.

(Which is also why I'm now without my iPad for at least a week, cause I had to take it to Best Buy, and they just mail it to Apple. D'oh!)

Much preferred 7:00am. I set my alarm at 5:45 and got ready and then waited to order at 6:45. After ordering, I was off to work. Usually when I woke up at 1:45am to order, even after ordering I’d be so excited to even go back to sleep. This was the first year ever I was able to get on Apple to order. I’m so glad it was changed.

I got my order in at 8:02 eastern time after pressing reload a thousand times. I pulled over in my car and used the Apple app on my iPad mini 5. I would have preferred an earlier time though, when I'm still at home.
